Coexistence of glassy antiferromagnetism and giant magnetoresistance (GMR) in Fe/Cr multilayer structures
Using temperature-dependent magnetoresistance and magnetization measurements
on Fe/Cr multilayers that exhibit pronounced giant magnetoresistance (GMR), we
have found evidence for the presence of a glassy antiferromagnetic (GAF) phase.
This phase reflects the influence of interlayer exchange coupling (IEC) at low
temperature (T < 140K) and is characterized by a field-independent glassy
transition temperature, Tg, together with irreversible behavior having
logarithmic time dependence below a "de Almeida and Thouless" (AT) critical
field line. At room temperature, where the GMR effect is still robust, IEC
plays only a minor role, and it is the random potential variations acting on
the magnetic domains that are responsible for the antiparallel interlayer

Tunable Rashba spin-orbit interaction at oxide interfaces
The quasi-two-dimensional electron gas found at the LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interface
offers exciting new functionalities, such as tunable superconductivity, and has
been proposed as a new nanoelectronics fabrication platform. Here we lay out a
new example of an electronic property arising from the interfacial breaking of
inversion symmetry, namely a large Rashba spin-orbit interaction, whose
magnitude can be modulated by the application of an external electric field. By
means of magnetotransport experiments we explore the evolution of the
spin-orbit coupling across the phase diagram of the system. We uncover a steep
rise in Rashba interaction occurring around the doping level where a quantum
critical point separates the insulating and superconducting ground states of
the system
Dimensions of dynamic marketing capability and export performance
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to develop a conceptual framework on the dimensions of dynamic marketing capability (DMC) and its relationship with export performance. The paper also proposes the mediating role of competitive hybrid strategy and the moderating role of environmental responsiveness in explaining the relationship between DMC and export performance.
Design/methodology/approach
By following the dynamic capability notion of the marketing and competitive strategy literature, this paper proposes a novel conceptualization of the DMC development process and the possible effect of DMC on attaining competitive advantage.
Findings
The paper postulates that a firmâs DMC can reflect complementary power when its higher-level marketing capabilities are bundled together to detect distributing channel membersâ crucial needs, competitorsâ action plans and satisfying market demand. As yet little is known about the main underlying dimensions of higher-level DMC construct, the paper contributes in proposing the key dimensions of DMC.
Originality/value
This research advances the knowledge-based view and resource-based views and evolves a solid foundation of DMC constructs comprising four higher-order marketing capabilities, namely, ambidextrous market orientation, customer relationship management capability, brand management capability and new product development capability. Thus, this paper contributes in DMC literature in explaining export performance
Normal State Magnetic Properties of Ni and Zn Substituted in YBa_{2}Cu_{3} O_{6+x}: Hole-Doping Dependence
We present SQUID susceptibility data on Zn and Ni substituted
YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{6+x}. Cross-checks with NMR yield an unprecedented accuracy in
the estimate of the magnetic susceptibility associated with the substituants,
from the underdoped to the lightly overdoped case. This allows us to determine
the Weiss temperature \theta for YBCO: its value is very small for all hole
dopings n_h. Since in conventional metals, the Kondo temperature,
, magnetic screening effects would not be expected for ; in contrast, increasing n_h produces a reduction of the small moment
induced by Zn^{2+} and a nearly constant effective moment for Ni^{2+}

Two-dimensional quantum oscillations of the conductance at LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interfaces
We report on a study of magnetotransport in LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interfaces
characterized by mobilities of the order of several thousands cm/Vs. We
observe Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations that indicate a two-dimensional
character of the Fermi surface. The frequency of the oscillations signals a
multiple sub-bands occupation in the quantum well or a multiple valley
configuration. From the temperature dependence of the oscillation amplitude we
extract an effective carrier mass \,. An electric field
applied in the back-gate geometry increases the mobility, the carrier density

Correlation length in cuprates deduced from the impurity-induced magnetization
We report a new multi-nuclei based NMR method which allows us to image the
staggered polarization induced by nonmagnetic Li impurities in underdoped O6.6
and slightly overdoped O7 YBa2Cu3O6+y above T_C. The spatial extension of the
polarization xi_imp approximately follows a Curie law, increasing up to six
lattice constants at T=80K at O6.6 in the pseudogap regime. Near optimal
doping, the staggered magnetization has the same shape, with xi_imp reduced by
a factor 2. xi_imp is argued to reveal the intrinsic magnetic correlation
length of the pure system. It is found to display a smooth evolution through

Double Exchange in a Magnetically Frustrated System
This work examines the magnetic order and spin dynamics of a double-exchange
model with competing ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic Heisenberg
interactions between the local moments. The Heisenberg interactions are
periodically arranged in a Villain configuration in two dimensions with
nearest-neighbor, ferromagnetic coupling and antiferromagnetic coupling
. This model is solved at zero temperature by performing a
expansion in the rotated reference frame of each local moment.
When exceeds a critical value, the ground state is a magnetically
frustrated, canted antiferromagnet. With increasing hopping energy or
magnetic field , the local moments become aligned and the ferromagnetic
phase is stabilized above critical values of or . In the canted phase, a
charge-density wave forms because the electrons prefer to sit on lines of sites
that are coupled ferromagnetically. Due to a change in the topology of the
Fermi surface from closed to open, phase separation occurs in a narrow range of
parameters in the canted phase. In zero field, the long-wavelength spin waves
are isotropic in the region of phase separation. Whereas the average spin-wave
stiffness in the canted phase increases with or , it exhibits a more
complicated dependence on field. This work strongly suggests that the jump in
the spin-wave stiffness observed in PrCaMnO with at a field of 3 T is caused by the delocalization of the electrons rather
than by the alignment of the antiferromagnetic regions.Comment: 28 pages, 12 figure
Effects of dilute Zn impurities on the uniform magnetic susceptibility of YBa2Cu3O{7-delta}
The effects of dilute Zn impurities on the uniform magnetic susceptibility
are calculated in the normal metallic state for a model of the spin
fluctuations of the layered cuprates. It is shown that scatterings from
extended impurity potentials can lead to a coupling of the q~(pi,pi) and the
q~0 components of the magnetic susceptibility chi(q). Within the presence of
antiferromagnetic correlations, this coupling can enhance the uniform
susceptibility. The implications of this result for the experimental data on Zn
substituted YBa2Cu3O{7-delta} are discussed.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
