Phase synchronization in an array of driven Josephson junctions

We consider an array of N Josephson junctions connected in parallel and explore the condition for chaotic synchronization. It is found that the outer junctions can be synchronized while they remain uncorrelated to the inner ones when an external biasing is applied. The stability of the solution is found out for the outer junctions in the synchronization manifold. Symmetry considerations lead to a situation wherein the inner junctions can synchronize for certain values of parameter. In the presence of a phase difference between the applied fields, all the junctions exhibit phase synchronization. It is also found that chaotic motion changes to periodic in the presence of phase differences.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figures, accepted for publication in "CHAOS

    Get PDF
The dynamic nature of the distribution network challenges the stability and control effectiveness of the microgrid in autonomous mode. In this paper, nonlinear model of microgrid operating in autonomous mode has been presented. The controller parameters and power sharing coefficients are optimized in case of autonomous mode. The control problem has been formulated as an optimization problem where Ant colony optimization is employed to search for optimal settings of the optimized parameters. In addition, nonlinear time-domain-based objective function has been proposed to minimize the error in the measured power and to enhance the damping characteristics, respectively. Finally, the nonlinear time-domain simulation has been carried out to assess the effectiveness of the proposed controllers under different disturbances and loading conditions. The results show satisfactory performance with efficient damping characteristics of the microgrid considered in this study

Coping Strategies among Employed Widows in Lalgudi Taluk, Trichy District

A widow can be especially socially vulnerable in some countries due to the lack of protection of a male figure, and sometimes face significant economic problems as a result. It is estimated that there are over 245 million widows across the globe with over 500 million dependent children. A widow’s economic dependence is a severe threat to her self-esteem and her sense of identity. The stigma of widowhood itself negatively affects a woman and she falls in her own esteem.  The aim of this study is to describe the coping pattern among the widows working in informal sectors in Trichy. The present study is descriptive in nature. The universe of includes all the population of widow women workers in Lalgudi taluk of Trichy district and  the researcher  used the non-probability snow ball sampling method for collecting the sample. Results revealed that low level coping is seen among the dimensions like instrumental social support, active coping, denial, behavioural, emotional social support, acceptance, suppression and planning. High level of coping is seen among the dimensions like Positive, mental disengagement, religious coping, focused, substance, Restraint and Humor. Keywords: women, widow, problems, workers and coping

Effective action approach to strongly correlated fermion systems

We construct a new functional for the single particle Green's function, which is a variant of the standard Baym Kadanoff functional. The stability of the stationary solutions to the new functional is directly related to aspects of the irreducible particle hole interaction through the Bethe Salpeter equation. A startling aspect of this functional is that it allows a simple and rigorous derivation of both the standard and extended dynamical mean field (DMFT) equations as stationary conditions. Though the DMFT equations were formerly obtained only in the limit of infinite lattice coordination, the new functional described in the work, presents a way of directly extending DMFT to finite dimensional systems, both on a lattice and in a continuum. Instabilities of the stationary solution at the bifurcation point of the functional, signal the appearance of a zero mode at the Mott transition which then couples t o physical quantities resulting in divergences at the transition.Comment: 9 page

Descriptive Survey Method has been adopted for the conduct of the study. Emotional Competency Inventory for Teachers (Balasubramanian and Abilash Babu, 2009) has been used to collect the required data from the sample chosen. The inventory contains 20 positive items and 5 negative items. The number of items selected for the inventory falling under four major dimensions viz. Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness and Relationship Management. In line with the Stratified Random Sampling Technique, 50 Principals of Colleges of Education from three districts of Tamilnadu state have been chosen for the study. Descriptive, differential and correlation analysis have been undertaken for data analysis adopting appropriate statistical techniques. It is found that there is significant difference at 0.05 level between the means of the scores of the Principals of the Colleges categorized based on their marital status with regard to their scores on Self Awareness, as one of the components of Emotional Competence. The mean value of the unmarried Principals has been found to be greater than that of married Principals. Hence, it is concluded that the unmarried principals possess more of Self-Awareness when compared to their married counter parts. It is also found that there is no significant difference between the means of the Principals of Colleges of Education on the scores of the most of the dimension of emotional competence of the principals irrespective of their sex and marital status as well as the locality and type of the institution. It is also found that there is significant and positive correlation at 0.01 level among different components of Emotional Competence viz. Self-Awareness and Self-Management & Relationship-Management, Self-Management and Social Awareness & Relationship-Management, Social Awareness and Self-Management & Relationship-Management. However, there is no significant relationship between Self-Awareness and Social Awareness, Social Awareness and Relationship Management.  Article visualizations

Birth of human is a gift and that is why Auvaiyar says that giving birth as human being is a gift and it is rare. Both men and women are important in worldly life. Relationships are the main reason for the ups and downs in a society. In the beginning matriarchal society developed and later patriarchal society started and after this woman are not given equal freedom. Today’s world view women as an object who does all the household duties. Women are controlled by men. This runs like a formula that men to rule and women to nurture. Even today there are many beliefs like woman was created using a man’s rib, lord Easen gave half of his boy to create a woman. The article discusses about women’s responsibility of maintaining a home, bearing children, marital violence, family violence and in addition it describes how a woman can get her freedom and how she can be equally treated

Descriptive Survey Method has been adopted to collect the required data from the Principals of the Colleges of Education. In line with Stratified Random Sampling Technique, 50 Principals of Colleges of Education from three districts of Tamilnadu state have been chosen for the study. Burnout Inventory for Teachers (Balasubramanian and Abilash Babu, 2009) was used to collect the required data from the sample chosen with regard to Burnout scores. The sample is comprised of male and female Principals with the age range between 30+ and 50 and above working in rural and urban areas. Descriptive, differential and correlation studies have been adopted to analyze the data. It is found that there is significant difference at 0.05 level between the means on the scores of Depersonalization of the Principals of Colleges of Education located at rural and urban areas. The mean value of the Principals of the urban area has been found to be greater than that of the those of the rural area. Hence, it is concluded that locality of the college has certain influence on the Depersonalization of the Principals. It is also found that there is no significant difference between the means of the scores of the Principals of Colleges of Education on various dimensions of their Burnout irrespective of their sex and marital status as well as the locality and type of college of education. Hence, it is concluded that sex and marital status of the Principals and the location and type of the colleges have no significant influence on the different dimension of Burnout. It is also found that there is significant and positive correlation at 0.01 level among the scores of various components of Burnout of the Principals of Colleges of Education viz. Emotional Exhaustion, Depersonalization, Reduced Personal Accomplishment and the Burnout total score. Hence, it is concluded that there has been significant and positive correlation among the various components of Burnout of the Principals of Colleges of Education. It means that the sense of wearing out, the emotional separation from the clients and the feeling of not achieving the set goals among the Principals are mutually influencing the other. Higher in one component of Burnout will result higher in other components also.     Article visualizations
