    Unrolled primal-dual networks for lensless cameras

    Conventional models for lensless imaging assume that each measurement results from convolving a given scene with a single experimentally measured point-spread function. These models fail to simulate lensless cameras truthfully, as these models do not account for optical aberrations or scenes with depth variations. Our work shows that learning a supervised primal-dual reconstruction method results in image quality matching state of the art in the literature without demanding a large network capacity. We show that embedding learnable forward and adjoint models improves the reconstruction quality of lensless images (+5dB PSNR) compared to works that assume a fixed point-spread function

    Investigation of heavy-heavy pseudoscalar mesons in thermal QCD Sum Rules

    We investigate the mass and decay constant of the heavy-heavy pseudoscalar, BcB_c, ηc\eta_c and ηb\eta_b mesons in the framework of finite temperature QCD sum rules. The annihilation and scattering parts of spectral density are calculated in the lowest order of perturbation theory. Taking into account the additional operators arising at finite temperature, the nonperturbative corrections are also evaluated. The masses and decay constants remain unchanged under T100 MeVT\cong 100 ~MeV, but after this point, they start to diminish with increasing the temperature. At critical or deconfinement temperature, the decay constants reach approximately to 35% of their values in the vacuum, while the masses are decreased about 7%, 12% and 2% for BcB_c, ηc\eta_c and ηb\eta_b states, respectively. The results at zero temperature are in a good consistency with the existing experimental values as well as predictions of the other nonperturbative approaches.Comment: 11 Pages, 2 Tables and 6 Figure

    Optimizing decomposition of software architecture for local recovery

    Cataloged from PDF version of article.The increasing size and complexity of software systems has led to an amplified number of potential failures and as such makes it harder to ensure software reliability. Since it is usually hard to prevent all the failures, fault tolerance techniques have become more important. An essential element of fault tolerance is the recovery from failures. Local recovery is an effective approach whereby only the erroneous parts of the system are recovered while the other parts remain available. For achieving local recovery, the architecture needs to be decomposed into separate units that can be recovered in isolation. Usually, there are many different alternative ways to decompose the system into recoverable units. It appears that each of these decomposition alternatives performs differently with respect to availability and performance metrics. We propose a systematic approach dedicated to optimizing the decomposition of software architecture for local recovery. The approach provides systematic guidelines to depict the design space of the possible decomposition alternatives, to reduce the design space with respect to domain and stakeholder constraints and to balance the feasible alternatives with respect to availability and performance. The approach is supported by an integrated set of tools and illustrated for the open-source MPlayer software

    PubMed ID: 21231958Aim: Vitamin A deficiency (VAD), especially in its subclinical form, is a world health problem in young children. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of VAD among preschool children in various socio-economic groups in İzmir, Turkey. Methods: One hundred and one children aged 24-59 months were selected for the study with cluster sampling method. A questionnaire was completed by the parents, and the dietary pattern was assessed by using a 3-day dietary record method. Results: Mean serum retinol concentration of the children was 28.3 ± 10.2 µg/dL. Serum vitamin A concentration of two children (2%) was below 10 µg/dL (VAD), whereas 18 (18%) children had vitamin A concentrations between 10 and 20 µg/dL (subclinical deficiency). We did not find any relationship between mean serum retinol concentrations and the independent variables such as socio-economical levels, age groups, birth weight and gestational age. However, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between serum retinol concentrations and weight-for-age and weight-for-height Z scores of the children (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Because one-fifth of the children under 5 years have VAD in İzmir, Turkey, nutrition education must be given to the families during well-child care visits, and routine vitamin supplementation should be considered especially in children with malnutrition. © 2011 The Author(s)

    A female newborn was admitted with the symptoms of mild respiratory distress, protruding tongue, hypotonicity, cutis marmorata, sclerema, myxedema, abdominal distension, and feeding problems on the first day of life. She had a huge neck mass, a large anterior and posterior fontanel, and hoarse cry. She had no umbilical hernia or jaundice. A history of maternal potassium iodine (expectorant) usage without doctor's advice was obtained; the mother had not attended a clinic throughout the pregnancy. On ultrasonographic examination, the thyroid right lobe was 53 x 31 mm and the left lobe was 34 x 31 mm. The results of thyroid hormone tests on the first day were as follows: T3 20 ng/dl (normal: 32-216 ng/dl), T4 0.9 microg/dl (11.8-22.6 microg/dl), TSH 120 mIU/l (2.5-13.3 mIU/l). This patient is presented to emphasize the role of hypothyroidism in drug-induced neonatal goiter and to discuss the possibility of a life-threatening effect of congenital goiter, i.e. respiratory tract obstruction

    Retinol and ?-tocopherol concentrations in breast milk of Turkish lactating mothers under different socio-economic status

    PubMed ID: 17852471Retinol and ?-tocopherol levels in breast milk of Turkish mothers under different socio-economic status were investigated. Mature milk samples were collected from 92 lactating mothers living in Izmir and in Manisa, cities of Turkey, who were at 60-90 days of the lactating period. Socio-economic, anthropometric, and dietary data were collected by means of a questionnaire. The body mass index was used to determine the nutritional status. The retinol and ?-tocopherol contents of breast milk were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography; the concentration of ?-tocopherol was 9.84 µg/ml whereas retinol levels were 81.5 µg/100 ml. The questionnaire survey was used to determine the level of these vitamins in the daily ration of the women.
