Abstract Taxonomic and stratigraphic problems of the family Tmetoceratidae and the genera Dumortieria, Catulloceras, Cotteswoldia, Pleydellia and Tmetoceras included in it are briefly discussed. Fifteen species of Tmetoceratidae are described and illustrated from the Upper Toarcian-Aalenian ammonite assemblages of the Gerecse Mts (NE Transdanubian Range, Hungary). The fauna described here is closely allied to the Mediterranean Province of the Mediterranean-Caucasian Realm

The study of Oxfordian Perisphinctidae (Ammonoidea) from the Andean Province (Chili), shows a marked Iow share of typically european representatives (Perisphinctinae), the þroportion being somewhat higher in the case of true tethyan elements (Passendorferiinae), and specially high for cuban elements (Vinalesphinctes). lt seems, therefore, adequate individualising this last genus and related forms under a new subfamilia/ taxa: Vinalesphinctinae, nov. Its origin as a true Eastern Pacific Realm group, or else, as a «peripheral stem» of Tethyan stock, is stil under discussio
