    La1−xCaxMnO3 bulk ceramic with Ca content of 0.28 was sintered from nano-powders synthesized by sol–gel method. Epitaxial thin films of La0.72Ca0.28MnO3 have been prepared on both untilted and 15° vicinal cut LaAlO3 (0 0 1) substrates by pulsed laser deposition technique. The structure and surface morphology of LCMO samples (powders, target and films) were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and atom force microscope. The temperature dependence of the resistance was also studied. Large temperature coefficient of resistance value of 11.3% at 234.1 K was obtained for the film grown on titled substrate

    Evaluation of Milk Clotting and Proteolytic Activity of Moringa oleifera L.

    Extracts from fruits and plants were used as milk coagulants in many areas of the world. The aim of the present study was to investigate the milk clotting and proteolytic enzyme activity of Moringa oleifera L. seed kernels with the aim of establishing the optimal conditions (pH, temperature and concentrations of enzyme) to be used for making cheese. In addition, the effects of calcium ions and cysteine on milk clotting and proteolytic enzyme activities were also studied. Moreover, the qualitative proteolytic enzyme activity was investigated utilizing the used X-ray film. The optimal conditions (pH, temperature and concentrations of enzyme) and effects of calcium ions and cysteine on proteolytic enzyme activities were determined by spectrophotometric method using Folin-Ciocalteu's reagent. Furthermore, the cheese was made by using the best optimal conditions of the enzyme solution of Moringa oleifera L

    Electrical transport properties and laser-induced voltage effect in La0.8Ca0.2MnO3 epitaxial thin films

    La0.8Ca0.2MnO3 (LCMO) thin films about 200 nm thickness were grown on untilted and tilted (5°, 10° and 15°) LaAlO3 (100) single crystal substrates by pulsed laser deposition technique. Electrical properties of the epitaxial thin films were studied by conventional four-probe technique and the anisotropic thermoelectric properties of the films grown on the tilted substrates have been investigated by laser-induced voltage (LIV) measurements. X-ray diffraction analysis and atomic force microscopy results show that the prepared LCMO thin films have a single phase and high crystalline quality. The remarkably large temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) values (above 11 %/K) are observed in the all films. TCR value reaches 18 %/K on the film grown on 10° tilted substrate. The intensity of LIV signals monotonously increases with the tilting angles, and the largest signal is 148 mV with the fast time response 229 ns for the film grown on 15° tilted substrate

    La1−xCaxMnO3 (x¼0.33 and 0.28) powders were prepared by both coprecipitation and sol–gel methods. Circular pellets with different radial shrinking ratios (RSR) were obtained by changing the calcination temperature of the powders. The influence of the powder synthesis process and the shrinking ratio of the sample on the structural, morphological and electrical properties of the ceramics were investigated. It has been found that sol–gel method is more efficient and stable to obtain ceramic samples with good electrical properties. The radial shrinking ratio of the ceramic increases with the decreasing calcination temperature. The experimental results show that RSR significantly affects the electrical properties of the ceramics prepared by coprecipitation method and has negligible influence on the samples made by sol–gel method. The coprecipitation samples with larger RSR have higher insulator to metal transition temperature Tp which is comparable to that of the sol–gel samples

    Influence of Ca Content on LITV Effect of La1-xCaxMnO3 Epitaxial Thin Films

    La1-xCaxMnO3 (x=0.0-1.0) epitaxial thin films were deposited on both tilted and untilted LaAlO3 (0 0 1) single crystalline substrates using PLD (pulsed laser deposition) technique, in which the employed qualified polycrystalline La1-xCaxMnO3 targets were synthesized by sol-gel method. The structural properties and the ultraviolet LITV (laser induced thermoelectric voltage) effect of the as-grown films on the tilted substrates were studied. The results demonstrate that the intensities of the LITV signals depend non-monotonously on Ca content, that is, the peak values of the LITV signals firstly increase and then decrease with Ca content increasing. The maximal peak value of LITV was found in the film with Ca=0.33

    Synthesis and Characterization of Nanocrystalline La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 Powder by a Simple Sol-gel Metthod

    Nanocrystalline powders of manganite perovskite La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 were prepared by a simple sol-gel method at relatively low temperature.Single nanosized perovskite phase can be produced when the dried gel was calcined at the temperature as low as 500 ℃ without any intermediate step that was confirmed by X-ray diffraction.The prepared calcined powders are nanocrystalline up to 900 ℃(particle size ranging from 30 nm to 80 nm).However the crystalline particles are significantly grown(micron-sized grain) after the powders had been pressed into pellets and sintered at 1100 ℃.The morphology of bulk polycrystalline target and their electrical transport measurements were performed by using scanning electron microscope(SEM) and a conventional four probe technique,respectively.Remarkably sharp peaks of the resistivity vs.temperature(ρ-T) curves with insulator-metal transition temperature TIM(around 270 K) can be observed

    Acute-phase Serum Cytokine Levels and Correlation with Clinical Outcomes in Children and Adults with Primary and Secondary Dengue Virus Infection in Myanmar between 2017 and 2019

    The dengue virus (DENV) has been endemic in Myanmar since 1970, causing outbreaks every 2–3 years. DENV infection symptoms range from mild fever to lethal hemorrhage. Clinical biomarkers must be identified to facilitate patient risk stratification in the early stages of infection. We analyzed 45 cytokines and other factors in serum samples from the acute phase of DENV infection (within 3–5 days of symptom onset) from 167 patients in Yangon, Myanmar, between 2017 and 2019. All of the patients tested positive for serum DENV nonstructural protein 1 antigen (NS1 Ag); 78.4% and 62.9% were positive for immunoglobulin M (IgM) and G (IgG), respectively; and 18.0%, 19.8%, and 11.9% tested positive for serotypes 1, 3, and 4, respectively. Although the DENV-4 viral load was significantly higher than those of DENV-1 or DENV-3, disease severity was not associated with viral load or serotype. Significant correlations were identified between disease severity and CCL5, SCF, PDGF-BB, IL-10, and TNF-α levels; between NS1 Ag and SCF, CCL5, IFN-α, IL-1α, and IL-22 levels; between thrombocytopenia and IL-2, TNF-α, VEGF-D, and IL-6 levels; and between primary or secondary infection and IL-2, IL-6, IL-31, IL-12p70, and MIP-1β levels.
