We show that K1(E) of an exact category E agrees with K1(DE) of the associated triangulated derivator DE. In this paper we show how to modify cofibrations in a monoidal model category so that the tensor unit becomes cofibrant while keeping the same weak equivalences. Cylinders for non-symmetric DG-operads via homological perturbation theory

We construct small cylinders for cellular non-symmetric DG-operads over an arbitrary commutative ring by using the basic perturbation lemma from homological algebra. We show that our construction, applied to the A-infinity operad, yields the operad parametrizing A-infinity maps whose linear part is the identity. Moduli spaces of algebras over non-symmetric operads

In this paper we study spaces of algebras over an operad (nonsymmetric) in symmetric monoidal model categories. We first compute the homotopy fiber of the forgetful functor sending an algebra to its underlying object, extending a result of Rezk. We then apply this computation to the construction of geometric moduli stacks of algebras over an operad in a homotopical algebraic geometry context in the sense of To¨en and Vezzosi. We show under mild hypotheses that the moduli stack of unital associative algebras is a Zariski open substack of the moduli stack of non-necessarily unital associative algebras. Homotopy theory of bicomplexes

We define two model structures on the category of bicomplexes concentrated in the right half plane. The first model structure has weak equivalences detected by the totalisation functor. The second model structure’s weak equivalences are detected by the E2-term of the spectral sequence associated to the filtration of the total complex by the horizontal degree. K-theory of derivators revisited

We define a K-theory for pointed right derivators and show that it agrees with Waldhausen K-theory in the case where the derivator arises from a good Waldhausen category. This K-theory is not invariant under general equivalences of derivators, but only under a stronger notion of equivalence that is defined by considering a simplicial enrichment of the category of derivators. Torsion homology and cellular approximation

We describe the role of the Schur multiplier in the structure of the p-torsion of discrete groups. More concretely, we show how the knowledge of H2G allows us to approximate many groups by colimits of copies of p-groups. Our examples include interesting families of noncommutative infinite groups, including Burnside groups, certain solvable groups and branch groups. Motivos de beleza e amor no cancioneiro popular português e sérvio

Tese de doutoramento, Linguística (Linguística Aplicada), Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Letras, 2014E objetivo central desta dissertação realizar um estudo de literatura de expressão oral portuguesa e servia, enfatizando a relevância dos motivos de beleza e amor na poesia lírica popular destes dois povos. Observaremos o modo como a poesia popular portuguesa e sérvia encaram os motivos de beleza e amor e ainda como este modo influencia o comportamento, o pensamento, ação e construção de imagens por estas duas comunidades culturais. Apesar da ausência de grandes contactos históricos e geográficos, pretendemos demonstrar que portugueses e sérvios se expressam acerca do sentimento amoroso e apreciam a beleza de forma semelhante. Os tópicos a discutir passam necessariamente pelo questionamento da existência dos conceitos da alma portuguesa e alma eslava que durante séculos tem servido para explicar determinadas reações e comportamentos das duas entidades culturais em questão como culturalmente condicionados. Um outro tópico importante sobre que recairá a nossa reflexão será a (im)possibilidade da tradução do vocábulo e do conceito de saudade para a língua servia, sendo que um dos dicionários consultados propõe o substantivo čežnja. Pretendemos defender a ideia de que o conceito subjacente a estes dois termos e praticamente equivalente no contexto da expressão de amor. Embora os motivos de beleza e amor possam ser encarados isoladamente, tentaremos averiguar da estreita relação entre estas duas categorias. Investigaremos os padrões (locais e universais) da beleza masculina e feminina e a sua relação com a virtude e outros fatores motivadores deste sentimento. No quadro do estudo do amor, concentrar-nos-emos nas vertentes platónica e anti platónica (os beijos, os abraços, as caricias), diretamente conexionadas. Estudaremos também a problemática da identidade, diferença e cliché no contexto dos dois motivos a comparar. We will observe the way in which folk poetry treats the motifs of beauty and love and how they influence behavior; thought; action, and the construction of images by these two cultural communities. Despite not having had many historical and geographical contacts, we intend to show that the Portuguese and the Serbs express their emotions and appreciation of beauty in very similar ways. he topics we will discuss necessarily include the questioning of the concepts of the Portuguese soul and the Slavic soul, which over the centuries have been used to explain certain reactions and behaviour of these two peoples, as culturally conditioned. Another important topic to be reflected is the (im)possibility of translating the word and the concept of saudade into the Serbian language. Since one of the dictionaries we consulted proposes the noun čežnja, we shall defend the idea that the concept underlying these two terms is practically equivalent in the context of the expression of love. Although the motifs of beauty and love can be observed separately, we will also examine the close relationship between these two categories. We will research both (local and universal) patterns of masculine and feminine beauty and their relation to virtue and other factors that give rise to the feeling of love. Within the context of the study of love, this feeling will be analysed from its platonic and antiplatonic variants (embracing, kissing, fondling), which are directly connected. We will also study the problems of identity, difference and cliche in the context of the two motifs to be compared. We will devote attention to the relationship between these categories and otherness, in the sense of discovering how these concepts are reflected in the vision of beauty and love in Portuguese and Serbian folk poetry
