The effect of electrojet on the seasonal variation of sporadic-E

    No full text
In the present communication, an attempt has been made to judge the extent of electrojet from the seasonal variation curves Æ’oEs. From the analysis of the Es data for the Indian Ionospheric stations near the mangetic equator, it is noted that the change over from the tropical type of Es to the equatorial type is observed to take place between magnetic dip 5° and 10°. The dependence of the electrojet on the sunspot activity as judged by the seasonal variation of Es has also been studied

A study of the sporadic-E layer over Waltair

From the ƒEs data, manually observed at Waltair, during February 1956 to February 1957 and November 1961 to October 1962, the diurnal and seasonal variation of the occurrence of Es is studied. An attempt is made to explain the obtained results. The diurnal and seasonal variations of Æ’Es are studied and the results are in accordance with those obtained at other middle latitude stations. A comparison is made of the diurnal variation of ƒEs at Waltair during 1956-1957 with the other Indian stations during the same period. The Es characteristics at Waltair, except for the percentage occurrence of Es with ƒEs > 7 Mc/s show slight positive correlation with sunspot activity. An analysis of the lunar semi-diurnal tides in ƒEs at Waltair is made
