    Evaluation of ampicillin, vancomycin, and gentamycin antibiotic resistant among lactobacillus isolates / Rozila Alias... [et al.]

    Antibiotic resistance is an ever-increasing in worldwide problem nowadays. It is happened when the exten- sive use of antibiotics which will creates the selective pressure resulting from mutation of normal genes and spreading of a variety of an antimicrobial resistance. Uses of Lactobacillus as probiotics or in starter cultures may serve as hosts of antibiotic resistance genes, which could be transfer or resistance to multiple antibiotics. Therefore, it is important to screen the susceptible or resistance towards antibiotics which will not transferable resistance genes. In the recent study, a total of 37 strains of Lactobacillus species isolated from various milk and dairy products such as goat’s milk, cattle’s milk, human’s milk, homemade yogurt and commercial yogurt were examined for the antibiotic profile using Kirby-Bauer method. The results of this study show that human’s milk has a high number of Lactobacillus isolates resistant to ampicillin (75%), vancomycin (62.5%) and gentamycin (62.5%). Whereas Lactobacillus isolated from cattle’s milk have resistant to ampicillin (42.1%), vancomycin (42.1%) and susceptible to gentamycin (0%). But however, goat’s milk still has lower percentage number of resistant to ampicillin (28.0%), vancomycin (14.3%) and are susceptible to gentamycin (0%). These results indicate that ampicillin and vancomycin resistant seems to be very common among Lactobacillus isolates but gentamycin are still susceptible used. Vancomycin resistant are more concerned because of the emerging problem in hospital and often described as one of the last resorts against the infection caused by multidrug-resistant pathogens. Therefore, lactobacilli as probiot- ics would be more monitoring when applied in food industry and clinical especially for immune compromised patients or during anti-biotherapy.     Patriotisme adalah sikap perasaan cinta yang kuat terhadap tanah air. Nilai- nilai dalam patriotisme pula terdiri daripada berbangga sebagai rakyat Malaysia, bersemangat setia negara, bersemangat kekitaan dan berdisiplin. Ciptaan karya- karya kreatif dapat mengekspresikan nilai- nilai patriotisme yang telah diterapkan kepada masyarakat sejak mencapai pasca kemerdekaan suatu ketika dahulu. Maka kertas kerja ini adalah bertujuan untuk membincangkan dan mengupas nilai- nilai patriotism yang diterapkan dalam reka bentuk arca pelajar. Selain daripada itu, ia juga bertujuan untuk mengenalpasti faktor- faktor keberkesanan reka bentuk arca dalam mendokong semangat kemerdekaan. Kajian lebih tertumpu kepada kaedah tinjauan dan kajian lapangan. Sementara, instrument yang digunakan dalam kajian adalah kamera DSLR dan sesi temubual. Analisis kajian pula berfokus kepada analisis tampak berdiskriptif dan analisis fakta. Hasil daripada kajian, didapati dari aspek estetika nilai- nilai patriotisme dapat dihayati melalui reka bentuk arca berpresentasi figura yang dinamik yang dapat dimanifistasikan sebagai semarakkan semangat waja. Reka bentuknya yang jitu pada struktur dan bentuk keseluruhan arca mengibarkan bendera Malaysia melambangkan kekukuhan, kesetiaan dan kecintaan rakyat terhadap negara. Dari aspek formalistik pula, faktor- faktor keseimbangan, strukur yang dinamik, kepelbagaian elemen, keharmonian warna dan bentuk berperanan untuk melonjakkan nilai- nilai estetika arca. Faktor- faktor teknikal seperti teknik penghasilan arca yang baik serta kukuh dapat menyokong nilai keindahan arca. Kesimpulannya seni yang diciptakan dapat dihubungkan melalui meningkatkan nilai kesedaran dan semangat kecintaan terhadap negara seterusnya mewujudkan perpaduan dikalangan masyarakat

    Security, privacy, and reliability in digital healthcare systems using blockchain

    According to the security breach level index, millions of records are stolen worldwide on every single day. Personal health records are the most targeted records on the internet, and they are considered sensitive, and valuable. Security and privacy are the most important parameters of cryptography and encryption. They reduce the availability of data on patients and healthcare to the appropriate personnel and ultimately lead to a barrier in the transfer of healthcare into a digital health system. Using a permission blockchain to share healthcare data can reduce security and privacy issues. According to the literature, most healthcare systems rely on a centralized system, which is more prone to security vulnerabilities. The existing blockchain-based healthcare schemes provide only a data-sharing framework, but they lack security and privacy. To cope with these kinds of security issues, we have designed a novel security algorithm that provides security as well as privacy with much better efficiency and a lower cost.     A novel secure blockchain framework for accessing electronic health records using multiple certificate authority

    Blockchain is a promising technology in the context of digital healthcare systems, but there are issues related to the control of accessing the electronic health records. In this paper, we propose a novel framework based on blockchain and multiple certificate authority that implement smart contracts and access health records securely. Our proposed solution provides the facilities of flexible policies to update a record or invoke the policy such that a patient has complete authority. A novel approach towards multiple certificate’s authority (CA) is introduced in the design through our proposed framework. Our proposed policies and methods overcome the shortcoming and security breaches faced by single certificate authority. Our proposed scheme provides a flexible access control mechanism for securing electronic health records as compared to the existing benchmark models. Moreover, our proposed method provides a re-enrolment facility in the case of a user lost enrolment

    Investigation on Wearable Antenna under Different Bending Conditions for Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) Applications

    This paper analysed the effects of bending on the performance of a textile antenna wherein the antenna under test was made of felt substrate for both industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band and WBAN applications at 2.45 GHz. Moreover, the conductive material was used for the patch, and the ground plane used a 0.17 mm Shieldit textile. Meanwhile, the antenna structure was in the form of rectangular, with a line patch in between elements to abate the mutual coupling effect. The measured operating frequency range of the antenna spanned from 2.33 GHz to 2.5 GHz with a gain of 4.7 dBi at 2.45 GHz. In this paper, the antenna robustness was examined by bending the structure on different radii and degrees along both X- and Y-axis. Next, the effects on return loss, bandwidth, isolation, and radiation characteristics were analysed. This paper also discovered that the antenna’s performance remained acceptable as it was deformed, and the measured results agreed well with the simulation
