Abstract

Introduction

Sheehan's syndrome is defined by varying degrees of anterior pituitary deficiency due to postpartum ischemic necrosis of the pituitary gland after massive bleeding. It is a rare disorder in western countries and even in Tunisia. Hematologic abnormalities such as normochromic anemia have been reported in these patients. However, pancytopenia is rarely observed.

Case presentation

We describe the case of a 48-year-old Tunisian woman with features of hypopituitarism. Laboratory tests showed pancytopenia that was completely reversed after adequate hormone replacement.

Conclusion

Clinicians should consider the possibility of hypopituitarism as a cause of pancytopenia. This is an original case report that is of interest to hematologists, who should be aware of Sheehan's syndrome as a treatable etiology of pancytopenia for women.</p

L analyse des performances a porté sur la compréhension des liens entre les mécanismes de frottement et d usure, la microstructure et les propriétés des matériaux et leur comportement tribologiqueThe role of the constituents within friction materials for brake lining still largely unknown due to the complexity of these organic composite formulations and to the induced solicitation by braking which generates multiple physical phenomena. Therefore, it is especially difficult to establish the relationship between the composition of a brake lining and its performance. The work has concerned an industrial brake lining for heavy vehicle. A preliminary study was conducted in terms of its microstructure, constituents, properties, elaboration and its braking performance. The experimental approach was based, on the one hand, on the development of a model formulation, derived from the simplification of the industrial one and, on the other hand, on a specific wear test representative of braking solicitations, to take up the tribological behaviour of constituents in the framework of a simplified configuration. Brass particles and glass fibres have been particularly studied, introduced into the model formulation taken as a reference. The analysis of performance has focused on understanding the relationship between friction and wear mechanisms, microstructure and properties of materials, and their tribological behaviourVILLENEUVE D'ASCQ-ECLI (590092307) / SudocSudocFranceF

Tribological properties of Ni–B–TiO2 sol composite coating elaborated by sol-enhanced process: abrasive wear and impact wear

    Get PDF
The development of composite coating with higher dispersive second phase is a crucial goal to achieve its performance against wear. In this respect, an interesting experimental investigation on the behavior of Ni–B–TiO2 sol composite coating towards scratching, sliding and impact loadings was performed. The adhesive strength was determined by progressive scratch test, while the tribological behavior was assessed through rotating and reciprocating sliding tests, as well as the impact-sliding tests. The in-situ formation of TiO2 nanoparticles in Ni–B bath, which is a recently invented technique, significantly improves the scratch response of the composite coating and its abrasive wear resistance. Indeed, the composite coating appears exempt from delamination after both scratch tests and pin-on-disk test, contrary to the pure Ni–B coating. Regarding the impact wear resistance, it was found that the wear severity and damage mechanisms depend strongly on the impact angle, which in turn is controlled by the solicitation type. The SEM observations accompanied with EDS analysis were carried out inside the wear scars to clearly understand the relationship between the surface damage and the contact angle
