Joule Heating and Current-Induced Instabilities in Magnetic Nanocontacts
We consider the electrical current through a magnetic point contact in the
limit of a strong inelastic scattering of electrons. In this limit local Joule
heating of the contact region plays a decisive role in determining the
transport properties of the point contact. We show that if an applied constant
bias voltage exceeds a critical value, the stationary state of the system is
unstable, and that periodic, non-harmonic oscillations in time of both the
electrical current through the contact and the local temperature in the contact
region develop spontaneously. Our estimations show that the necessary
experimental conditions for observing such oscillations with characteristic
frequencies in the range Hz can easily be met. We also show a
possibility to manipulate upon the magnetization direction of a magnetic grain
coupled through a point contact to a bulk ferromagnetic by exciting the
above-mentioned thermal-electric oscillations.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, submitted to Physical Review
Superconductivity in thin films of RuN
Superconductivity has been found in RuN films obtained by reactive magnetron
sputtering. This is a novel member of the metal nitride superconductors family.
The critical temperature of the superconducting transition varies depending on
the substrate and ranges from 0.77 K to 1.29 K. The parameters of the crystal
lattice of superconducting films have been determined: the lattice is distorted
cubic with parameters \AA , . A zero temperature upper critical magnetic field and
the coherence length were found from the experimental data using WHH model.
T- 4.1 T for different substrates and exceeds the upper
paramagnetic limit, as well as nm. An s-wave single band energy gap
meV was revealed by self-field critical current experiment
at temperatures down to 10 mK, exceeding the BCS ratio

Transkingdom Networks: A Systems Biology Approach to Identify Causal Members of Host-Microbiota Interactions
Improvements in sequencing technologies and reduced experimental costs have
resulted in a vast number of studies generating high-throughput data. Although
the number of methods to analyze these "omics" data has also increased,
computational complexity and lack of documentation hinder researchers from
analyzing their high-throughput data to its true potential. In this chapter we
detail our data-driven, transkingdom network (TransNet) analysis protocol to
integrate and interrogate multi-omics data. This systems biology approach has
allowed us to successfully identify important causal relationships between
different taxonomic kingdoms (e.g. mammals and microbes) using diverse types of
data
Soils of the polar archaeological site “Settlement Labytnangi 1 (Komy village)”: morphological analysis and chemical composition
Soils of archaeological sites are highly interesting objects for multidisciplinary research in various fields of soil science, ecology, archaeology, anthropology and other sciences. Currently, the soils of archaeological sites in the Arctic regions have not been studied sufficiently, although many ancient monuments beyond the polar circle have been found. This work is devoted to the study of morphological and chemical properties of soils of the archaeological site “Settlement Labytnangi 1”, which is located beyond the northern polar circle, near the cities of Labytnangi and Salekhard (Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug). Development of these territories (according to archaeological research) began in the Eneolithic (Late IV – III millennia BC) and continues to the present day. Soil types on the territory of the monument are represented by soil-like bodies (urbikvazizems), podzols, turbozems, urbo-agrozems and peat soils with inclusions of archaeological and anthropogenic artifacts dating back to the XX century. Most of the studied soils were previously subjected to the processes of cryoturbation, although at present the lower boundary of the active layer of permafrost lies at a depth of 120–130 cm, according to the conducted electrophysical sounding. Significant changes occurred in the acid-base properties of the studied soils. In addition, anthropogenic activity entailed the introduction of biophilic elements and organic matter into the soil profile, in particular phosphorus, which is concentrated in the urbanized soil horizons (phosphorus concentrations above 2 800 mg/kg were recorded). The concentrations of heavy metals in the soils are at/below the conventional background (vicinity of Salekhard and Labytnangi). However, some excess concentrations of copper (up to 87.5 mg/kg), zinc (up to 303.3 mg/kg), lead (up to 76.1 mg/kg), and cadmium (up to 2.1 mg/kg) in the urbanized soil horizons have been detected. According to the results of the work, we can conclude that the soils of the archaeological site were formed under the strong influence of modern and past anthropogenic activity, which determined their morphological structure and chemical characteristics at present
ИНСУЛИН И ИНСУЛИНОРЕЗИСТЕНТНОСТЬ: НОВЫЕ МОЛЕКУЛЫ-МАРКЕРЫ И МОЛЕКУЛЫ-МИШЕНИ ДЛЯ ДИАГНОСТИКИ И ТЕРАПИИ ЗАБОЛЕВАНИЙ ЦЕНТРАЛЬНОЙ НЕРВНОЙ СИСТЕМЫ
The review summarizes current data on the role of insulin in the regulation of t glucose metabolism in the central nervous system at physiologic and pathologic conditions. For many years, the brain has been considered as an insulin-independent organ which utilizes glucose without insulin activity. However, it is become clear now that insulin not only regulates glucose transport and metabolism, but also has modulatory efftects in impact on excitability, proliferation and differentiation of brain progenitor cells, synaptic plasticity and memory formation, secretion of neurotransmitters, apoptosis. We have critically reviewed literature information and our own data on the role of insulin and insulin resistance in neuron-glia metabolic coupling, regulation of NAD+ metabolism and action of NAdependent enzymes, neurogenesis, brain development in (patho)physiological conditions. The paper clarifies interrelations between alterations in glucose homeostasis, development of insulin resistance and development of neurodegeneration (Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease), autism, stroke, and depression. We discuss the application of novel molecular markers of insulin resistance (adipokines, α-hydroxybutyrate, BDNF, insulin-regulated aminopeptidase, provasopressin) and molecular targets for diagnostics and treatment of brain disorders associated with insulin resistance.В статье рассматриваются вопросы, связанные с ролью инсулина в обмене глюкозы в центральной нервной системе в физиологических условиях и при развитии нейродегенеративных заболеваний и инсулинорезистентности. Долгие годы головной мозг считался инсулиннезависимым органом, способным утилизировать глюкозу без участия инсулина. В настоящее время инсулину принадлежит не только роль регулятора транспорта глюкозы и ее метаболизма, но и модулятора таких процессов, как электровозбудимость нейронов, пролиферация и дифференцировка прогениторных клеток, синаптическая пластичность, формирование памяти, секреция нейротрансмиттеров, апоптоз. В настоящем обзоре критически проанализирована современная литература, с учетом собственных данных, о роли инсулина и инсулинорезистентности в регуляции нейрон-глиального метаболического сопряжения, поддержании гомеостаза НАД+ и регуляции активности НАД+ -зависимых ферментов, нейрогенеза и развития мозга в (пато)физиологических условиях. Раскрываются причинно-следственные связи между нарушением гомеостаза глюкозы, развитием инсулинорезистентности и нейродегенеративными заболеваниями (болезнь Альцгеймера и Паркинсона), аутизмом, острым нарушением мозгового кровообращения, депрессией. Обсуждается применение новых молекул-маркеров инсулинорезистентности (адипокины, α-гидроксибутират, BDNF, инсулинрегулируемая аминопептидаза, провазопрессин) и молекул-мишеней для диагностики и терапии заболеваний головного мозга, ассоциированных с развитием инсулинорезистентности.

Electric circuit parameters determination possibility is considered, in particular, harmonic current description, by the increase of current in time dependences on delta-function with the different discrete intervals.Рассмотрена возможность определения параметров электрических цепей, в частности, гармонической характеристики тока четырех проводной электросети 0,4 кВ с нелинейными видами нагрузок, путем умножения зависимостей тока во времени на решетчатую дельта-функцию с разными интервалами дискретизации.Розглядається можливість визначення параметрів електричних кіл, зокрема, гармонійної характеристики струму чотирьох дротяної електромережі 0,4 кВ з нелінійними видами навантажень, шляхом множення залежностей струму від часу на гратчасту дельта-функцію з різними інтервалами дискретизації

Analysis of Techniques for Verification of Coating Thickness Gauges
An analysis of the structure and content of verification technique MP 002.D4-14, extends to coating thickness gauges TM-2, TM-3, TM-4, and TM-4T, technique MP 159-261-2016 for verification of SaluTrjn coating thickness gauges, and a technique for verification of coating thickness gauges regulated by GOST 8.502–84 is performed. It is shown that the first two techniques do not take into account the random component of the error, while the third technique does take into account the random component but not correctly. These factors all lead to a high probability of a wrong identification of a model of a thickness gauge that is, in reality, defective to be, instead, a working model or, on the other hand working devices may be incorrectly identified as being defective. To increase the reliability of the results of a verification of coating thickness gauges, recommendations that suggest incorporating them into the content of a verification technique regulated by GOST 8.502–84 are proposed. © 2019, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature
