Technological Policing: Big data vs real data
Big Data assume um papel preponderante na intervenção nas mais diversas áreas, Ã
qual não é alheia a área policial. O presente artigo teórico procura de abrir caminhos para a
compreensão do fenómeno Big Data na intervenção policial a nÃvel micro e macro, enquanto
ferramenta inserida na tecnologia policial. Por outro lado, apresentar o conceito agregado à data
real, e o seu distanciamento na intervenção policial. A metodologia utilizada para o efeito foi a
de análise bibliográfica, em que se apresentar critérios de inclusão e exclusão, por forma, a
consolidar a análise em questão. Na perspetiva dos autores salienta-se que enquanto instrumento
da tecnologia policial, Big Data providencia a informação necessária, em termos de volume e
quantidade, tendo em conta, os diferentes nÃveis de intervenção policial, e é um recurso que
incrementa a sua eficiência na manutenção da ordem pública.Big Data assumes a preponderant role in the intervention in the most diverse areas of

understand the Big Data phenomenon in police intervention at micro and macro levels, as a tool
inserted in police technology. On the other hand, to present the concept aggregated to real data,
and its distancing in police intervention. The methodology used for this purpose was literature
analysis, in which inclusion and exclusion criteria are presented to consolidate the analysis in
question. From the authors' perspective, it is pointed out that as an instrument of police
technology, Big Data provides the necessary information, in terms of volume and quantity, taking
into account the different levels of police intervention, and is a resource that increases efficiency

Spatio-temporal conjecture for diffusion
We present here a conjecture about the equivalence between the noise density
of states of a system governed by a generalized Langevin equation and the
fluctuation in the energy density of states in a Hamiltonian system. We present

Synchronization in the presence of memory
We study the effect of memory on synchronization of identical chaotic systems
driven by common external noises. Our examples show that while in general
synchronization transition becomes more difficult to meet when memory range
increases, for intermediate ranges the synchronization tendency of systems can
be enhanced. Generally the synchronization transition is found to depend on the
memory range and the ratio of noise strength to memory amplitude, which
indicates on a possibility of optimizing synchronization by memory. We also
point out on a close link between dynamics with memory and noise, and recently
discovered synchronizing properties of networks with delayed interactions
The Ferromagnetic Potts model under an external magnetic field: an exact renormalization group approach
The q-state ferromagnetic Potts model under a non-zero magnetic field coupled
with the 0^th Potts state was investigated by an exact real-space
renormalization group approach. The model was defined on a family of diamond
hierarchical lattices of several fractal dimensions d_F. On these lattices, the
renormalization group transformations became exact for such a model when a
correlation coupling that singles out the 0^th Potts state was included in the
Hamiltonian. The rich criticality presented by the model with q=3 and d_F=2 was
fully analyzed. Apart from the Potts criticality for the zero field, an
Ising-like phase transition was found whenever the system was submitted to a
strong reverse magnetic field. Unusual characteristics such as cusps and

Anisotropic Energy Distribution in Three-Dimensional Vibrofluidized Granular Systems
We examine the energy distribution in a three-dimensional model granular
system contained in an open cylinder under the influence of gravity. Energy is
supplied to the system by a vibrating base. We introduce spatially resolved,
partial particle-particle ``dissipations'' for directions parallel and
perpendicular to the energy input, respectively. Energy balances show that the
total (integrated) ``dissipation'' is less than zero in the parallel direction
while greater than zero in the perpendicular directions. The energy supplied to
the perpendicular directions is dissipated by particle-wall collisions. We
further define a fractional energy transfer, which in the steady state
represents the fraction of the power supplied by the vibrating base that is
dissipated at the wall. We examine the dependence of the fractional energy
transfer on the number of particles, the velocity of the vibrating base, the
particle-particle restitution coefficient, and the particle-wall restitution
coefficient. We also explore the influence of the system parameters on the
