Starch-based orodispersible film for diclofenac release

The form of drug administration affects the success of treatment, since it can influence adherence of the patient to the therapy. The use of orodispersible films has emerged as a way to overcome some drawbacks of conventional methods of drug delivery, especially for patients experiencing difficulty in swallowing. These films are prepared using a matrix that incorporates the drug and contains other substances that confer the properties of the system. The present work describes the use of thermoplastic starch as a carrier for the model drug diclofenac, including film preparation and testing of its orodispersible potential. Preparation of the film employed a microwave oven to gelatinize and plasticize corn starch, with incorporation of the model drug, followed by solvent-casting. The samples were characterized using mechanical tests, analyses of water uptake and water content, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The results indicated that the film presented promising properties as an alternative system for oral drug administration, with good incorporation and distribution of the drug in the matrix. The material displayed satisfactory mechanical properties, which are crucial for this type of material, due to the need for oral administration and handling before use

Violência sexual: perfil epidemiológico do município de Araraquara – SP: Sexual violence: epidemiological profile of the municipality of Araraquara – SP

A violência sexual é um agravo de notificação compulsória, cujas informações são registradas na Ficha de Notificação de Violência Interpessoal/Autoprovocada e seus dados alimentam o Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação (SINAN). Objetiva-se conhecer o perfil epidemiológico das vítimas de violência sexual do município de Araraquara – SP, entre os períodos de Julho de 2014 e Dezembro de 2018, ao analisar 137 Fichas de Notificação de Violência Interpessoal/Autoprovocada, do banco de dados do SINAN-NET e Sistema Juarez - Sistema Integrado de Informação e Gestão em Saúde Pública - assinaladas como violência sexual, incluindo outras violências associadas a essa, quando presentes. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram vítimas predominantemente do sexo feminino, idade entre 21 - 49 anos, raça branca, ensino fundamental incompleto e estado civil solteiro. Além disso, os resultados evidenciaram características da violência em período noturno, bairros periféricos, estupro como violência sexual predominante e agressor desconhecido. Os principais procedimentos realizados às vítimas foram profilaxia de DST/HIV/Hepatites virais e contracepção de emergência, e o principal encaminhamento realizado foi à Rede de Saúde do Município. Ao conhecer o perfil epidemiológico das vítimas de violência sexual no município de Araraquara – SP torna-se possível estabelecer estratégias que viabilizem uma assistência direcionada ao perfil das vítimas, a fim de se qualificar ainda mais o atendimento realizado nesse município
