Elliptic Genera of Symmetric Products and Second Quantized Strings
In this note we prove an identity that equates the elliptic genus partition
function of a supersymmetric sigma model on the N-fold symmetric product
of a manifold M to the partition function of a second quantized
string theory on the space . The generating function of these
elliptic genera is shown to be (almost) an automorphic form for O(3,2,Z). In
the context of D-brane dynamics, this result gives a precise computation of the

Aerodynamic performance of 0.4066-scale model to JT8D refan stage
The aerodynamic performance of a scale model of the split flow JT8D rafan stage is presented over a range of flows at speeds from 40 to 100 percent design. The bypass stage peak efficiency of 0.800 occurred at a total weight flow of 35.82 kilograms per second and a pressure ratio of 1.697. The stall margin was 15 percent based on pressure ratio and weight flow at stall and peak efficiency conditions. The data indicated that the hub region of the core stators was choked at design speed over the entire flow range tested
Universal nonequilibrium signatures of Majorana zero modes in quench dynamics
The quantum evolution after a metallic lead is suddenly connected to an
electron system contains information about the excitation spectrum of the
combined system. We exploit this type of "quantum quench" to probe the presence
of Majorana fermions at the ends of a topological superconducting wire. We
obtain an algebraically decaying overlap (Loschmidt echo) for large times after the quench, with
a universal critical exponent =1/4 that is found to be remarkably
robust against details of the setup, such as interactions in the normal lead,
the existence of additional lead channels or the presence of bound levels
between the lead and the superconductor. As in recent quantum dot experiments,
this exponent could be measured by optical absorption, offering a new signature
of Majorana zero modes that is distinct from interferometry and tunneling

The overall and blade-element performance of a low pressure ratio, low tip speed fan stage at design speed is presented for tow off-design rotor blade angle settings. The rotor design tip speed is 243.8 m/sec and weight flow per unit annulus area is 175.8 kg/sec. Design weight flow and pressure ratio are 29.9 kg/sec and 1.151, respectively

Combined use of 16S ribosomal DNA and 16S rRNA to study the bacterial community of polychlorinated biphenyl-polluted soil
The bacterial diversity assessed from clone libraries prepared from rRNA (two libraries) and ribosomal DNA (rDNA) (one library) from polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB)-polluted soil has been analyzed. A good correspondence of the community composition found in the two types of library was observed. Nearly 29% of the cloned sequences in the rDNA library were identical to sequences in the rRNA libraries. More than 60% of the total cloned sequence types analyzed were grouped in phylogenetic groups (a clone group with sequence similarity higher than 97% [98% for Burkholderia andPseudomonas-type clones]) represented in both types of libraries. Some of those phylogenetic groups, mostly represented by a single (or pair) of cloned sequence type(s), were observed in only one of the types of library. An important difference between the libraries was the lack of clones representative of the Actinobacteriain the rDNA library. The PCB-polluted soil exhibited a high bacterial diversity which included representatives of two novel lineages. The apparent abundance of bacteria affiliated to the beta-subclass of theProteobacteria, and to the genus Burkholderiain particular, was confirmed by fluorescence in situ hybridization analysis. The possible influence on apparent diversity of low template concentrations was assessed by dilution of the RNA template prior to amplification by reverse transcription-PCR. Although differences in the composition of the two rRNA libraries obtained from high and low RNA concentrations were observed, the main components of the bacterial community were represented in both libraries, and therefore their detection was not compromised by the lower concentrations of template used in this study
