Six-dimensional Abelian vortices with quadratic curvature self-interactions
Six-dimensional Nielsen-Olesen vortices are analyzed in the context of a
quadratic gravity theory containing Euler-Gauss-Bonnet self-interactions. The
relations among the string tensions can be tuned in such a way that the
obtained solutions lead to warped compactification on the vortex. New regular
solutions are possible in comparison with the case where the gravity action
only consists of the Einstein-Hilbert term. The parameter space of the model is

Model Checking Probabilistic Real-Time Properties for Service-Oriented Systems with Service Level Agreements
The assurance of quality of service properties is an important aspect of
service-oriented software engineering. Notations for so-called service level
agreements (SLAs), such as the Web Service Level Agreement (WSLA) language,
provide a formal syntax to specify such assurances in terms of (legally
binding) contracts between a service provider and a customer. On the other
hand, formal methods for verification of probabilistic real-time behavior have
reached a level of expressiveness and efficiency which allows to apply them in
real-world scenarios. In this paper, we suggest to employ the recently
introduced model of Interval Probabilistic Timed Automata (IPTA) for formal
verification of QoS properties of service-oriented systems. Specifically, we
show that IPTA in contrast to Probabilistic Timed Automata (PTA) are able to
capture the guarantees specified in SLAs directly. A particular challenge in
the analysis of IPTA is the fact that their naive semantics usually yields an
infinite set of states and infinitely-branching transitions. However, using
symbolic representations, IPTA can be analyzed rather efficiently. We have
developed the first implementation of an IPTA model checker by extending the
PRISM tool and show that model checking IPTA is only slightly more expensive

Superconformal Yang-Mills quantum mechanics and Calogero model with OSp(N|2,R) symmetry
In spacetime dimension two, pure Yang-Mills possesses no physical degrees of
freedom, and consequently it admits a supersymmetric extension to couple to an
arbitrary number, N say, of Majorana-Weyl gauginos. This results in (N,0) super
Yang-Mills. Further, its dimensional reduction to mechanics doubles the number
of supersymmetries, from N to N+N, to include conformal supercharges, and leads
to a superconformal Yang-Mills quantum mechanics with symmetry group
OSp(N|2,R). We comment on its connection to AdS_2 \times S^{N-1} and reduction

Cross Section and Transverse Single-Spin Asymmetry of Mesons in Collisions at GeV at Forward Rapidity
We present a measurement of the cross section and transverse single-spin
asymmetry () for mesons at large pseudorapidity from
~GeV collisions. The measured cross section for

next-to-leading-order perturbative-quantum-chromodynamics calculation. The
asymmetries have been measured as a function of Feynman- () from

meson production in Au collisions at GeV
The PHENIX experiment has measured meson production in Au
collisions at GeV using the dimuon and dielectron decay
channels. The meson is measured in the forward (backward) -going
(Au-going) direction, () in the transverse-momentum
() range from 1--7 GeV/, and at midrapidity in the
range below 7 GeV/. The meson invariant yields and
nuclear-modification factors as a function of , rapidity, and centrality
are reported. An enhancement of meson production is observed in the
Au-going direction, while suppression is seen in the -going direction, and
no modification is observed at midrapidity relative to the yield in
collisions scaled by the number of binary collisions. Similar behavior was
previously observed for inclusive charged hadrons and open heavy flavor

Measurements of double-helicity asymmetries in inclusive production in longitudinally polarized collisions at GeV
We report the double helicity asymmetry, , in inclusive
production at forward rapidity as a function of transverse momentum
and rapidity . The data analyzed were taken during
GeV longitudinally polarized collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion
Collider (RHIC) in the 2013 run using the PHENIX detector. At this collision
energy, particles are predominantly produced through gluon-gluon
scatterings, thus is sensitive to the gluon polarization
inside the proton. We measured by detecting the decay
daughter muon pairs within the PHENIX muon spectrometers in the
rapidity range . In this kinematic range, we measured the
to be ~(stat)~~(syst). The
can be expressed to be proportional to the product of the
gluon polarization distributions at two distinct ranges of Bjorken : one at
moderate range where recent RHIC data of jet and
double helicity spin asymmetries have shown evidence for significant gluon
polarization, and the other one covering the poorly known small- region . Thus our new results could be used to further

L\'evy-stable two-pion Bose-Einstein correlations in GeV AuAu collisions
We present a detailed measurement of charged two-pion correlation functions
in 0%-30% centrality GeV AuAu collisions by the
PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The data are well
described by Bose-Einstein correlation functions stemming from L\'evy-stable
source distributions. Using a fine transverse momentum binning, we extract the
correlation strength parameter , the L\'evy index of stability
and the L\'evy length scale parameter as a function of average
transverse mass of the pair . We find that the positively and the
negatively charged pion pairs yield consistent results, and their correlation
functions are represented, within uncertainties, by the same L\'evy-stable
source functions. The measurements indicate a decrease of the
strength of the correlations at low . The L\'evy length scale parameter
decreases with increasing , following a hydrodynamically
predicted type of scaling behavior. The values of the L\'evy index of stability
are found to be significantly lower than the Gaussian case of
, but also significantly larger than the conjectured value that may
characterize the critical point of a second-order quark-hadron phase
