Comparisons for Esta-Task3: Cles and Cesam
We present the results of comparing three different implementations of the
microscopic diffusion process in the stellar evolution codes CESAM and CLES.
For each of these implementations we computed models of 1.0, 1.2 and 1.3
M. We analyse the differences in their internal structure at three
selected evolutionary stages, as well as the variations of helium abundance and
depth of the stellar convective envelope. The origin of these differences and
their effects on the seismic properties of the models are also considered.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures, Joint HELAS and CoRoT/ESTA Workshop on

Does solar structure vary with solar magnetic activity?
We present evidence that solar structure changes with changes in solar
activity. We find that the adiabatic index, Gamma_1, changes near the second
helium ionization, i.e., at a depth of about 0.98 R_sun. We believe that this
change is a result of the change in the effective equation of state caused by
magnetic fields. Inversions should be able to detect the changes in Gamma_1 if
mode sets with reliable and precise high-degree modes are available.Comment: To appear in ApJ Letter

A concern visualization approach for improving MATLAB and octave program comprehension
The literature has pointed out the need for focusing efforts to better support comprehension of MATLAB and Octave programs. Despite being largely used in the industry and academia in the engineering domain, programs and routines written in those languages still require efforts to propose approaches and tools for its understanding. Considering the use of crosscutting concerns (CCCs) to support the comprehension of object-oriented programs, there is room of its use in the context of MATLAB and Octave programs. The literature has purpose and examples in this direction. Considering this scenario, we propose the use of visualization enriched with CCCs representation to support the comprehension of such programs. This paper discusses the use of a multiple view interactive environment called OctMiner in the context of two case studies to characterize how collected information relating to crosscutting concerns can foster the comprehension of MATLAB and GNU/Octave programs. As a result of the conducted case studies, we propose strategies based on OctMiner and tailored to support different comprehension activities of programs written in MATLAB and Octave.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
Barriers to physical activity in the elderly
Nowadays the elderly population is well aware of the benefits of the practice of physical activity, which leads to an increasing demand for specialized physical activity programs in urban centers or recreational self-practice. However, people easily quit those programs or recreational self-practice and return to a sedentary lifestyle. A key factor to avoid this quittance is to keep them motivated to practice and stay in the programs. Objectives: This study aims to understand the motivational factors that lead older people to physical activity in order to improve existing programs so to better meet the needs of this population.peerReviewe
NEAR-SURFACE EFFECTS IN MODELLING OSCILLATIONS OF ETA BOO
Following the report of solar-like oscillations in the G0 V star eta Boo
(Kjeldsen et al. 1995, AJ 109, 1313), a first attempt to model the observed
frequencies was made by Christensen-Dalsgaard et al. (1995, ApJ Letters, in
press). This attempt succeeded in reproducing the observed frequency
separations, although there remained a difference of about 10 microHz between
observed and computed frequencies. In those models, the near-surface region of
the star was treated rather crudely. Here we consider more sophisticated models
that include non-local mixing-length theory, turbulent pressure and
nonadiabatic oscillations.Comment: uuencoded and compressed Postscript (2 pages, including figure); To
