To design the planting, separating, threshing, sizing and packing machines for agricultural products, physical and mechanical properties of the products should be known. In this paper, some physical properties of red radish seeds were studied. Dimensional parameters, when moisture content equals to 5.65% based on dry bases (d.b), were measured using image processing technique. Effects of moisture content on gravimetrical and frictional properties of the seeds, including mass of single seed, 1000-unit seed, bulk density, true density, porosity, static coefficient of friction on various surfaces, and angle of repose based on pouring, Hele-Shaw, empting and filling methods were studied. Effects of volume of the container (150, 350, 550 and 750 mL) and height of fall on bulk density and porosity of the radish seeds when moisture content equals to 5.65% (d.b) were studied. Also length, width, thickness and mass distributions of radish seeds were modeled using Gamma, Generalized Extreme Value and Weibull distributions. Results showed that length, width and thickness of the seeds ranged from 0.660 to 0.900 mm, 0.524 to 0.763 mm and 0.490 to 0.759 mm, respectively. With increasing volume of the container from 150 to 550 mL, bulk density of the seeds increased; but with increasing volume of the container from 550 to 750 mL, bulk density of the seeds decreased. With increasing volume of the container from 150 to 550 mL, bulk density of the seeds increased; but with increasing volume of the container from 550 to 750 mL, bulk density of the seeds decreased. With increasing moisture content from 5.65 to 21.71% (d.b) , bulk and true density of the seeds decreased from 694.807 to 654.889 kg/m3 and 1141.810 to 1057.795 kg/m3; but with increasing moisture content from 5.65% to 21.71% (d.b) , 1000-unit mass increased from 6.98 to 7.17 g

Urban geology is a preliminary study for the construction and development of cities, which has been more prominent in recent decades in some countries despite its long application history. It assesses the impact of geological and natural phenomena on urban space and available structures. The earthquake on Nov. 21, 2017, inflicted a lot of damage to the city of Sarpol-e Zahab, west of Iran, including financial losses and casualties. Reconstruction of this city and planning for its sustainable development entail conducting urban geological studies. In the present study, the effect of natural phenomena on Sarpol-e Zahab County was studied by investigating its geology and geomorphology. The results showed that, in addition to the earthquake that habitually affected the city of Sarpol-e Zahab, the hazards of other phenomena are also significant. Recorded horizontal acceleration in the recent earthquake confirmed the high seismicity of Sarpol-e Zahab has

To design the planting, separating, threshing, sizing and packing machines for agricultural products, physical and mechanical properties of the products should be known. In this work some physical properties of parsley seeds were studied. Dimensional parameters including three principle dimensions, geometric mean diameter, equivalent diameter, arithmetic mean diameter, sphericity, volume, surface area, projected area, flakiness ratio and elongation ratio were measured using image processing technique. Also length, width and thickness distributions of parsley seeds were modeled using Gamma, Generalized Extreme Value and Weibull distributions. Gravimetrical properties including mass of single seed, thousand seed mass, bulk density, true density and porosity were measured. Effect of the container volume and fall height on bulk density and porosity were studied. Frictional properties of parsley seeds (static coefficient of friction on various surfaces and repose angle of based on bypouring, Hele-Shaw, empting and filling methods) were measured. Results showed that length, width and thickness of the seeds ranged (0.660 - 0.883mm), (0.524 - 0.752mm) and (0.490 - 0.744 mm), respectively. With increasing the container volume from 150 to 550 mL, bulk density of the seeds increased; but from 550 to 750 mL, it was decreased. True density and thousand seed mass of the seeds were 884.658 kg/m3 and 1.390 g. The values of friction coefficient on plywood, rubber, iron and galvanized surfaces were 27.35ᵒ, 24.17ᵒ, 19.31ᵒ and 14.77ᵒ, respectively. The values of filling and empting repose angles were 32.64ᵒ and 40.16ᵒ

Introduction: Joint disorders are considered a major burden in our health system. The annual cost of managing various joint problems in the society is remarkable. The exact role of nutrition in management of joint disorders in modern medicine is not clear. On the other hand, Iranian Traditional Medicine (ITM) has various dietary plans for a range of joint problems that can even have therapeutic effects on the disease. In this article different types of foods and diets for various joint problems were introduced according to major references of ITM. Method: A number of major ITM references were reviewed to explore dietary approach towards rheumatologic problems. The data regarding the food instructions in each disease were collected. A search in PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, and some other Databases up to July 2016 was done to obtain related modern medical data about this field Result: According to the specific disease and the type of humor involved as well as the stage of the disease, Persian medical books present a wide view regarding foods, fruits and drinks which, by adjusting the temperament, can control the disease process. Conclusion: The use of diet in ITM plays an important role in the management of joint disorders. According to the nature of the disease the type of foods and drinks can vary. On many occasions the adjustment of food intake as a part of lifestyle management can have therapeutic effect in joint complaints. In the future, more research regarding specific dietary instructions for a variety of joint disorders is needed. Utilizing social virtual reality robot (V2R) for music education to children with high-functioning autism

    Get PDF
Virtual Reality (VR) technology is a growing technology that has been used in various fields of psychology, education, and therapy. One group of potential users of VR are children with autism who need education and have poor social interactions; this technology could help them improve their social skills through real-world simulation. In this study, we evaluated the feasibility of conducting virtual music education programs with automatic assessment system for children with autism at treatment/research centers without the need to purchase a robot, resulting in the possibility of offering schedules on a larger scale and at a lower cost. Intervention sessions were conducted for five children with high-functioning autism ranging in age from 6 to 8 years old during 20 weeks which includes a baseline session, a pre-test, training sessions, a post-test, and a follow-up test. Each music education sessions involved teaching different notes and pieces of music according to the child’s cooperation, accuracy, and skill level utilizing virtual reality robots and virtual musical instruments. Actually, by analysis of psychological tests, and questionnaires conducted by a psychologist, we observe slight improvements in cognitive skills because of the ceiling effect. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of the proposed method was proved by conducting statistical analysis on the child’s performance data during the music education sessions which were obtained by using both video coding and the proposed automatic assessment system. Consequently, a general upward trend in the musical ability of participants was shown to occur in these sessions, which warrants future studies in this field
