In this paper, we give some requirements under which two self-mappings have a common fixed point in bb-metric-like spaces

Postharvest melatonin treatment reduces chilling injury and enhances antioxidant capacity of tomato fruit during cold storage

In this study, tomato fruit was treated with 50, 100 or 200 ”M melatonin and then stored at 5°C for 28 days to investigate the effect of melatonin treatment on chilling injury, nutritional quality and changes in the antioxidant system. Tomato fruit developed chilling injury, manifested as surface pitting and irregular red color development during storage. These chilling injury symptoms, ion leakage and malondialdehyde content were significantly reduced, and proline and carotenoids contents were significantly increased by melatonin treatment. Meanwhile, melatonin substantially reduced O2- production rate and H2O2 content, which result from significantly higher activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase, and peroxidase than control during the storage. These results suggest that melatonin treatment can effectively enhance chilling tolerance and reduce chilling injury. The reduction in chilling injury by melatonin may be associated with enhanced enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants, in favor of membrane integrity and thus low cellular and tissue damage

The spatial distribution of esophageal and gastric cancer in Caspian region of Iran: An ecological analysis of diet and socio-economic influences

Recent studies have suggested a systematic geographic pattern of esophageal cancer (EC) and gastric cancer (GC) incidence in the Caspian region of Iran. The aims of this study were to investigate the association between these cancers and the region's dietary and socioeconomic risk factors and to map EC and GC after adjustment for the risk factors and the removal of random and geographic variations from area specific age standardised incidence ratios (SIRs)

Applications of SSAFT EOS for determination of the solubilities of solid compounds in supercritical CO2.

Using statistical thermodynamics such as Simplified SAFT equation of state (SSAFTEoS) for estimating phase equilibrium and fluid properties of different materials have been used widely. SSAFT EoS has been developed for associative and non-associative compounds. At high pressure inter molecular forces are very important, on the other hand, in spite of the fact that SSAFT EoS has strength theoretical foundation, it can predict the behavior of high pressure systems. In this research, four solid solubility of benzoic acid, naphthalene, pyrene and Phenanthrene in supercritical carbon dioxide have been studied, SSAFT EoS has been used for modeling. At the end the results have been compared with experimental data. The highest and the absolute average deviation error (AAPD), for carbon dioxide - Phenanthrene and benzoic acid - carbon dioxide systems have been reported 2.22 and 4.43 respectively. Keywords: SSAFT EoS; Supercritical carbon dioxide; Solid compounds; Solubility

Development and validation of an instrument to measure nurse educator perceived confidence in clinical teaching

Teaching nursing in clinical environments is considered complex and multi‐faceted. Little is known about the role of the clinical nurse educator, specifically the challenges related to transition from clinician, or in some cases, from newly‐graduated nurse to that of clinical nurse educator, as occurs in developing countries. Confidence in the clinical educator role has been associated with successful transition and the development of role competence. There is currently no valid and reliable instrument to measure clinical nurse educator confidence. This study was conducted to develop and psychometrically test an instrument to measure perceived confidence among clinical nurse educators. A multi‐phase, multi‐setting survey design was used. A total of 468 surveys were distributed, and 363 were returned. Data were analyzed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. The instrument was successfully tested and modified in phase 1, and factorial validity was subsequently confirmed in phase 2. There was strong evidence of internal consistency, reliability, content, and convergent validity of the Clinical Nurse Educator Skill Acquisition Assessment instrument. The resulting instrument is applicable in similar contexts due to its rigorous development and validation process

Iran is one of the earliest countries involved with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. In the present short report, we have presented our experiences as a cardiovascular tertiary center during the COVID-19 outbreak. At the beginning, we have pursued our activities in four field of administrative, preventative, therapeutic, and research. Then by gaining new experiences, we have tailored our strategies. Finally, we have described our challenges and future strategies on returning to normal activities. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals LL

Qualitative exploration of barriers and facilitators of dental service utilization of pregnant women: A triangulation approach

Abstract Background Pregnant women are vulnerable to a wide range of oral health conditions that could be harmful to their own health and future child. Despite the usefulness of regular dental service utilization in prevention and early detection of oral diseases, it is notably low among pregnant women. In this qualitative study, we aimed to explore barriers and facilitators influencing pregnant women’s dental service utilization. Methods Using a triangulation approach, we included pregnant women (n = 22) from two public health centers, midwives (n = 8) and dentists (n = 12) from 12 other public centers in Tehran (Iran). Data was gathered through face-to-face semi-structured interviewing and focus group discussion methods. The analysis of qualitative data was performed using conventional content analysis with MAXQDA10 software. Results Reported barriers of dental service utilization among pregnant women were categorized under emerging themes: Lack of knowledge and misbelief, cost of dental care, physiological changes, fear and other psychological conditions, time constraint, dentists’ unwillingness to accept pregnant women treatment, cultural taboos and lack of interprofessional collaboration. Solutions proposed by dentists, midwives and pregnant women to improve dental care utilization during pregnancy were categorized under three themes: Provision of knowledge, financial support and establishing supportive policies. Conclusions Understanding perceived barriers of dental service utilization during pregnancy can serve as baseline information for planning and formulating appropriate oral health education, financial support, and legislations tailored for lower income pregnant women, midwives and dentists in countries with developing oral health care system
