Detection Of Defects On Weld Bead Through The Wavelet Analysis Of The Acquired Arc Sound Signal
Recently, the development of online quality monitoring system based on the arc sound signal has become one of the main interests due its ability to provide the non-contact
measurement. Notwithstanding, numerous unrelated-to-defect sources which influence the sound generation are one of the aspects that increase the difficulties of applying this
method to detect the defect during welding process. This work aims to reveal the hidden information that associates with the existence of irregularities and porosity on the weld bead from the acquired arc sound by applying the discrete wavelet transform. To achieve the aim, the arc sound signal was captured during the metal inert gas (MIG)
welding process of three API 5L X70 steel specimens. Prior to the signal acquisition process, the frequency range was set from 20 Hz to 10 000 Hz which is in audible
range. In the next stage, a discrete wavelet transform was applied to the acquired sound in order to reveal the hidden information associated with the occurrence of discontinuity
and porosity. According to the results, it was clear that the acquired arc sound was not giving an obvious indication of the presence of defect as well as its location due to the high noise level. More interesting findings have been obtained when the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) analysis was applied. The analysis results indicate that the
level 8 of the approximate and detail wavelet coefficient have given a significant sign associated with the presence of irregularities and porosity respectively. Moreover,
despite giving the information on the surfaces pores, the detail wavelet coefficient was found to give a clear indication of the sub-surface porosity formation during welding process. Hence, it could be concluded that the hidden information with respect to the occurrence of discontinuity and porosity on the weld bead could be obtained by applying the discrete wavelet transfor
Self-Consistent C-V Characterization of Depletion Mode Buried Channel InGaAs/InAs Quantum Well FET Incorporating Strain Effects
We investigated Capacitance-Voltage (C-V) characteristics of the Depletion
Mode Buried Channel InGaAs/InAs Quantum Well FET by using Self-Consistent
method incorporating Quantum Mechanical (QM) effects. Though the experimental
results of C-V for enhancement type device is available in recent literature, a
complete characterization of electrostatic property of depletion type Buried
Channel Quantum Well FET (QWFET) structure is yet to be done. C-V
characteristics of the device is studied with the variation of three important
process parameters: Indium (In) composition, gate dielectric and oxide
thickness. We observed that inversion capacitance and ballistic current tend to
increase with the increase in Indium (In) content in InGaAs barrier layer.Comment: 5 pages, ICEDSA conference 201

In_xGa_{1-x}Sb MOSFET: Performance Analysis by Self Consistent CV Characterization and Direct Tunneling Gate Leakage Current
In this paper, Capacitance-Voltage (C-V) characteristics and direct tunneling
(DT) gate leakage current of antimonide based surface channel MOSFET were
investigated. Self-consistent method was applied by solving coupled
Schr\"odinger-Poisson equation taking wave function penetration and strain
effects into account. Experimental I-V and gate leakage characteristic for
p-channel InxGa1-xSb MOSFETs are available in recent literature. However, a
self- consistent simulation of C-V characterization and direct tunneling gate
leakage current is yet to be done for both n- channel and p-channel InxGa1-xSb
surface channel MOSFETs. We studied the variation of C-V characteristics and
gate leakage current with some important process parameters like oxide
thickness, channel composition, channel thickness and temperature for n-channel
MOSFET in this work. Device performance should improve as compressive strain
increases in channel. Our simulation results validate this phenomenon as
ballistic current increases and gate leakage current decreases with the
increase in compressive strain. We also compared the device performance by
replacing InxGa1-xSb with InxGa1-xAs in channel of the structure. Simulation
results show that performance is much better with this replacement.Comment: 7 pages, EIT 2012 IUPUI conferenc
Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) Prediction in Humans Using a Modified Back Propagation Neural Network
Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) has become a major source of health problem in industrial workers due to continuous exposure to high frequency sounds emitting from the machines. In the past, several studies have been carried-out to identify NIHL industrial workers. Unfortunately, these studies neglected some important factors that directly affect hearing ability in human. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) provides very effective way to predict hearing loss in humans. However, the training process for an ANN required the designers to arbitrarily select parameters such as network topology, initial weights and biases, learning rate value, the activation function, value for gain in activation function and momentum. An improper choice of any of these parameters can result in slow convergence or even network paralysis, where the training process comes to a standstill or get stuck at local minima. Therefore, this current study focuses on proposing a new framework on using Gradient Descent Back Propagation Neural Network model with an improvement on the momentum value to identify the important factors that directly affect the hearing ability of industrial workers. Results from the prediction will be used in determining the environmental health hazards which affect the workers health
Analyzing the short term and long-term complication of hysterectomy: a prospective study
Background: Hysterectomy is the most common surgical procedure done worldwide in women. Although many studies were done regarding short term complications, long term complications are not very well followed up. The objective of the study is to analyze short term and also long-term complications for the different mode of hysterectomy. Methods: It was a time-bound hospital-based prospective study which includes all the women who underwent hysterectomy for benign conditions in the hospital except women with prior psychiatric, bowel, bladder and sexual dysfunctions. All the patients were followed up for one year using a set of questionnaires to study short term and long-term complications. Results: No significant difference in short term post-operative complications concerning the mode of hysterectomy except for UTI was more common in vaginal hysterectomy group and haemorrhage in TAH route. Sexual dysfunction was noted even after 1 year of surgery in all modes of hysterectomy. Mild urinary dysfunction found statistically significant even at 1 year follow up in vaginal hysterectomy mode however there was no bothersome urinary dysfunction persistent after one year. Conclusions: Sexual dysfunction is the most common persistent long-term morbidity following hysterectomy found in the present study
Pancreatic tubercular abscess in a patient of disseminated tuberculosis
Pancreatic tuberculosis is a rare clinical entity, despite the high prevalence of tuberculosis worldwide. When present pancreatic TB is seen usually associated with military/ disseminated TB inĀ immuno-compromised patients with HIV topping the list in recent times. Here we present an unusual case of an immuno-competent individual with disseminated tuberculosis including pancreatic tubercular abscess a 30-year- old female was admitted with 3 months history of productive cough, constitutional symptoms and persistent epigastric discomfort. Patient had pallor and was febrile with no mass palpable per abdomen. Ultrasonography (USG)/ Contrast enhanced computed tomography (CECT) of abdomen showed cystic pancreatic lesion. Acid fast bacilli (AFB) were demonstrated in sputum as well asĀ material obtained from USG guidedĀ fine needle aspiration (FNA) of pancreatic lesion which after 6 weeks of incubation showed growth of mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) confirming diagnosis of disseminated tuberculosis with pancreatic involvement. Patient was put on antitubercular therapy (ATT) and response was excellent. This case highlights that TB can affect nearly every organ of the body. It should be kept among differentials while evaluating pancreatic lesions. With adequate treatment it is curable

Emergence of Multidrug-Resistant (MDR) and Extensively Drug- Resistant (XDR) Typhoid Fever in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh: A Case Series
Salmonella Typhi is a Gram-negative rod which causes enteric fever in humans. The introduction of antibiotics to treat typhoid has considerably improved its outcome, but rising multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) cases due to injudicious use of antibiotics is a matter of grave concern. This case series presents four cases of XDR typhoid fever from a tertiary care centre in northern India. The patients presented in Pediatrics OPD between June 2022 to August 2022, and were admitted and managed in the Pediatrics ward, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. There were two males and two females with a mean age of 10.5 Ā± 1.73 years. All the patients presented with fever of more than 10 days duration (median duration of symptom before admission 13 Ā± 5.74 days, IQR 10.5-20.5) and had been on oral cefixime for enteric fever. But, these patients did not show clinical resolution of fever and other symptoms such as fatigue, weakness etc. After the addition of Azithromycin, patients showed clinical improvement and were subsequently discharged over a period of 6-7 days. We are witnessing rapid emergence of XDR typhi strains across the world particularly in resource limited countries like ours. Azithromycin can be used as safer alternative in both MDR and XDR salmonella bacteremia. Additionally, blood culture should be sent of all suspected patients before start of antibiotics
