Corporate governance structure and firm performance : empirical evidence from Brusa Malaysia, Kuala Lumper
The issue of corporate governance has been emerging as important phenomena that has been searched extensively both in developed countries due to its strategic impact on the monitoring of management activities and firms’ performance. Yet little attempt has been made in developing countries like Malaysia to ascertain what constitute corporate governance and its impact on firm\u27s performance. Therefore, this study aims at examining the structure of the corporate governance and its impact on firm’s performance. This study is based on 100 firms, which are the component of the Composite Index (CI) serve as market barometer. This study employs cross-sectional annual multiple regression model to examine, what constitutes the corporate governance structure and its impact on performance of the firm. The analysis was based on annual regression over 5 years period from 1997 through 2001. Three different blend of surrogate for corporate governance were developed for good corporate governance structure. These are the independent non-executive (outside) directors, audit committee and remuneration committee. To isolate the size effect from the impact of corporate governance structure on firm’s performance, firm’s size was also included are variable in the model. The ratio of net income before tax to total asset is used as a surrogate for firm’s performance. Evidence from the study indicates that there is partial relation between corporate governance structure and corporate performance. The presence of both audit and remuneration committee serves as an important monitoring device to control management activities that lead to increase firm\u27s performance. While on average, the presence of independent nonexecutive directors does not provide any significant explanation for the firm\u27s performance. However, the firm size appears to have significant impact on corporate performance.<br /

Dyeing studies with henna and madder: A research on effect of tin (II) chloride mordant
The present paper deals with the application of natural dyes extracted from powdered henna (Lawsonia inermis) leaves and madder (Rubia cordifolia) roots on woolen yarn and assessment of effect of stannous chloride mordant on dyeability, color characteristics, fastness properties and antifungal activity of dyed woolen yarn. Sixteen shades have been developed for the characterization of their color characteristics and fastness properties. The color strength (K/S value) has been found to be very good in all dyed woolen yarn samples. The color fastness with respect to light exposure, washing and rubbing was quite satisfactory for both henna as well as madder dyed samples. Henna leaves extract was found very effective against Candida glabrata both in solution as well as after application on wool substrate but no antifungal activity is reported in case of madder both in solution as well as on wool substrate
Providing Dynamic TXOP for QoS Support of Video Transmission in IEEE 802.11e WLANs
The IEEE 802.11e standard introduced by IEEE 802.11 Task Group E (TGe)
enhances the Quality of Service (QoS) by means of HCF Controlled Channel Access
(HCCA). The scheduler of HCCA allocates Transmission Opportunities (TXOPs) to
QoS-enabled Station (QSTA) based on their TS Specifications (TSPECs) negotiated
at the traffic setup time so that it is only efficient for Constant Bit Rate
(CBR) applications. However, Variable Bit Rate (VBR) traffics are not
efficiently supported as they exhibit nondeterministic profile during the time.
In this paper, we present a dynamic TXOP assignment Scheduling Algorithm for
supporting the video traffics transmission over IEEE 802.11e wireless networks.
This algorithm uses a piggybacked information about the size of the subsequent
video frames of the uplink traffic to assist the Hybrid Coordinator accurately
assign the TXOP according to the fast changes in the VBR profile. The proposed
scheduling algorithm has been evaluated using simulation with different
variability level video streams. The simulation results show that the proposed
algorithm reduces the delay experienced by VBR traffic streams comparable to
HCCA scheduler due to the accurate assignment of the TXOP which preserve the
channel time for transmission.Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1602.0369
Sains Sebagai Asas Pembinaan Tamadun: Kajian Terhadap Kitab Tabaqat Al-Umam Oleh Sa‘Id Al-Andalusi (1029-1069)
Dalam konteks pengistilahan „sains‟, gambaran fungsi setiap komponan ilmu telah membawa pengertian sains sebagai gagasan pengharmonian alam, manusia dan Tuhan Pencipta
In the context of “science” terminology, the expression of each knowledge component has brought into the meaning of science a construct of the harmonization of nature, human and God the Creato
The motivational aspect: The low and high proficiency undergraduates of Islamic University College of Malaysia (IUCM) in using tell me more (TMM) language learning software
Many learners are excited to use language learning software when the software is introduced. However, it is believed that, the low proficiency users are less motivated
compared to high proficiency users. This study compares the motivational level of low and high proficiency undergraduates of IUCM in using TMM language learning
software. The data was collected by administering the modified Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (IMMS) questionnaire (Keller, 1987) to the respondents
and analyzed using SPSS software to arrive at the statistical figures. The analysis shows that there are not many discrepancies in terms of the motivational level
between the two groups in using the software, thus indicating the strengths of the software in catering for both groups. However, there are also some weaknesses in the
software that will be addressed in this paper. Finally, possible modifications to TMM software pertaining to the features related to the ARCS model (Keller, 1987) will also
be put forth
