IPOs as Catalysts for Retail Investor Wealth Creation: Evidence from the Indian Stock Market
The study delves into the dynamics of wealth creation for retail investors in the context of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) within the Indian equity markets. Against the backdrop of a burgeoning retail investor base, the research offers a comprehensive analysis spanning April 2012 to December 2022, evaluating short-term and long-term IPO performance metrics. The study reveals nuanced insights into wealth creation dynamics by scrutinizing listing day returns, first-week to third-year returns, and market-adjusted returns vis-à-vis the Nifty50 Index. Notably, the research suggests that while IPOs exhibit promise with positive listing day returns, sustaining growth over extended horizons poses challenges. The hypothesis of inflation serving as a pragmatic hurdle rate for retail investors is explored, offering a novel perspective on wealth preservation. It also sheds light on the significant variability in the Real Rate of Returns (RRRs) among IPOs, with some contributing to wealth generation while others result in wealth erosion. This underscores the importance of retail investors carefully assessing and managing risks, emphasizing the need for prudent portfolio diversification and effective risk mitigation strategies, particularly over longer investment horizons

Antidiabetic Activity of Vinca rosea Extracts in Alloxan-Induced Diabetic Rats
The present study was carried out to evaluate the antidiabetic activity of Vinca rosea methanolic whole plant extracts in alloxan induced diabetic rats for 14 days. The methanolic whole plant extract at high dose (500 mg/kg) exhibited significant anti-hyperglycemic activity than whole plant extract at low dose (300 mg/kg) in diabetic rats. The methanolic extracts also showed improvement in parameters like body weight and lipid profile as well as regeneration of β-cells of pancreas in diabetic rats. Histopathological studies reinforce the healing of pancreas, by methanolic Vinca rosea extracts, as a possible mechanism of their antidiabetic activity
Comprehensive Performance Measurement Methodology for Reverse Logistics Enterprise
Nowadays, due to increased competition caused by globalization and high rates of innovation supply chains continue to have shorter life-cycle products. More liberal return policies, increasing enforcement of take-back laws, heightened environmental regulations, increase in financial returns, good corporate image, increasing customer demands, have made enterprises face the challenges of strategically managing the returned and discarded products. Therefore, handling of product returns has led the reverse logistics activities to be effective and efficient. Efficiency of reverse logistics is achieved by reducing the waste, recapturing recovered value, reducing inventory investments, and optimizing the collection networks. Reverse logistics effectiveness allows enterprises an opportunity to improve competitiveness by building consumer confidence through handling of returned products, liberalized returns policies, operations of take-back networks, and green aspects of performance. But due to the intrinsic complexities of reverse logistics operations, such as uncertainty in quality, quantity, and timing of returns, makes the product returns process more complicated. The present literature on reverse logistics focuses on the factors that support the enterprises to manage and optimize their operations to remain competitive, but does not reflect upon the comprehensive performance measurement on how enterprises have to measure their reverse logistics activities. To contribute to the field, this research is carried out to study the performance measurement in reverse logistics enterprise to fill the gap in the literature. This dissertation presents a CRLEPMS - Comprehensive Reverse Logistics Enterprise Performance Measurement methodology to facilitate performance measurement and decision making for the enterprise involved in reverse logistics. It examines different performance measurement attributes and criteria for measuring reverse logistics performance. It investigates the inner and inter relationships among different criteria of attributes and also among clusters of attributes applying DEMATEL, FANP and AHP MCDM methods. Further, the enterprise computes the comprehensive overall performance index in order to benchmark its performance with best in class practices. The application of the CRLEPMS methodology provides the enterprises with a real world viewpoint of what and how performance attributes and measures impact the comprehensive overall performance index, so that they get feedback and continuously improve their product returns practices
PRICE DEMAND MODEL FOR A CLOUD CACHE
Cloud applications that offer data management services are emerging. Such clouds support caching of data in order to provide quality query services. The users can query the cloud data, paying the price for the infrastructure they use. Cloud management necessitates an economy that manages the service of multiple users in an efficient, but also, resource economic way that allows for cloud profit. Naturally, the maximization of cloud profit given some guarantees for user satisfaction presumes an appropriate price-demand model that enables optimal pricing of query services. The model should be plausible in that it reflects the correlation of cache structures involved in the queries. Optimal pricing is achieved based on a dynamic pricing scheme that adapts to time changes. This paper proposes a novel price-demand model designed for a cloud cache and a dynamic pricing scheme for queries executed in the cloud cache. The pricing solution employs a novel method that estimates the correlations of the cache services in an time-efficient manner. The experimental study shows the efficiency of the solution

Phytochemical, elemental and biotechnological study of Cryptocarya latifolia
Background: Existing populations of Cryptocarya latifolia (Lauraceae) are rapidly declining as a consequence of their substitutive use for Ocotea bullata. The uncontrolled and excessive removal of the bark and roots of this species has led to the death of many of these plants and may eventually result in its depletion in the natural habitat.Materials and Methods: The secondary metabolites from the leaves and fruits of C. latifolia were extracted using solvents of various polarities, isolated using column chromatography and identified using spectroscopic techniques. The in vitro free radical scavenging activity (antioxidant capacity) of selected phytocompounds at varied concentrations was determined by the 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. A propagation study of the species was also conducted. Results: The compounds isolated from the plant were the novel compound, α-pyrone (5-hexyltetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-one) and known compounds quercetin- 3-O-rhamnoside, β-sitosterol, copaene and nerolidol. The radical scavenging activity of the isolated compounds indicated moderate to good anti-oxidant activity. Treatment of explants with BAP: NAA at 1.0:0.01 mg L-1 produced the highest percentage of shoots (94%) and longest shoot length (8.06 mm). Conclusion: This study validates the ethno-medicinal use of the plant and supports the replacement of bark and roots by leaves and fruits for the management and conservation of this declining plant species. The benefits of consuming the fruits are two-fold as they can also contribute to the recommended dietary allowances of most essential elements for the majority of individuals.Key words: secondary metabolites, antioxidants, bud break, nutrition
