    Gastrointestinal Disorders in Cat due to Feed Mycotoxin Contamination

    This case reported about mycotoxin contamination on cat feed cause gastrointestinal disorders. A 5 y.o. male domestic short hair cat (Felix domesticus) was brought to the Animal Hospital, Universitas Airlangga with a history has been lethargic and disphagia for 2 days with vomiting a yellow fluid and diarrhea. Bowel movements, increasing in panting, and urination were examined. Observation in cat with gastrointestinal disorders for 5 days in animal hospital. Abnormal intestine and hepatomegaly based on x-ray were confirmed about mycotoxin contamination on cat food. Treatment for contamination on cat food was done by given protexin like probiotic to stimulate a villi intestinal growth and gastric condition. Itraconazole for antifungal to maintanace mycotoxin contamination was also considered. Our prescription was performed for our management treatment with gastrointestinal disoders. In advice, veterinarians should be giving information about the nutritional diet for a pet animal

    The aim of this research was to determine the level of stability of Megestrole acetate-retention time in storage period for six, eight and 12 hours using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The research method used posttest-only control group design by using three treatments and six repetitions. The three repetitions consist into six hours, eight hours and 12 hours. The data were obtained analyzed by Summery Independent T-Test with SPSS 24 for windows. The result showed six hours retention time of Megestrole acetate is stable and eight hours treatment and 12 hours treatment are not stable there is one unstable point of 12 hours treatment that indicates the substance is break down.     Produksi dan Kualitas Telur Itik Alabio di Daerah Sentra Peternakan Desa Sungai Pandan, Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Utara, Kalimantan Selatan

    Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan 20 itik Alabio betina siap bertelur dengan rentang usia 6 bulan dan untuk pemeriksaan kualitas telur untuk masing-masing kelompok 10 sampel. Pengamatan tingkat produksi telur dilakukan selama tiga bulan dengan 10 pengulangan, kualitas telur (ketebalan kulit telur, persentase kulit telur, persentase kulit telur, persentase albumin, persentase kuning telur, huagh unit, warna kuning telur, kadar protein dan lemak kandungan). Data produksi telur dan kualitas telur diuji menggunakan uji Anova. Hasil pengamatan rata-rata produksi harian telur 15.45 ± 0.12, 14.72 ± 0.10, 14.91 ± 0.09; produksi berat harian (kg/hari) 925.27 ± 7.50, 875.40 ± 6.32, 884 ± 5.03; hasil dari ketebalan kulit telur kualitas 0.33 ± 0.01, 0.33 ± 0.12, 0.33 ± 0.12; persentase kulit telur 11.32 ± 0.93, 11.28 ± 0.10, 11.36 ± 0.05; persentase albumin 55.70 ± 1.08, 56.66 ± 1.22, 56.12 ± 1.00; persen kuning telur 32.07 ± 1.24, 31.55 ± 1.48, 31.64 ± 1.20; Haugh unit 88.70 ± 6.21, 91.41 ± 6.70, 94.51 ± 5.06.     Latar Belakang: Penelitian analisis bioinformatika interaksi dan prediksi identifikasi panel gen protein sebagai target mengevaluasi efek kerusakan yang oleh AFB1 dan menginduksi jejas hepatik. Capsaicin mempunyai aktivitas : 1). Menginduksi apoptosis, 2). Menginduksi siklus sel, 3). Menurunkan regulasi faktor ekspresi transkripsi. Tujuan: Membuktikan capsaicin menghambat ekspresi protein target AKT1 dan MAPK1 pada mencit karena induksi AFB1 secara in silico dan in vivo. Metode: bioinformatika Molecular docking (In silico). IHC menghitung skor ekspresi dengan antibodi monoklonal dan skor patogenisitas jejas hepatik; kongesti, degenerasi dan nekrosis (In vivo). Hasil:. Penambatan molekul molecular docking energi bebas Gibbs bernilai negative. Skoring secara sinergis menghambat regulasi jalur pensinyalan AKT 1 dan MAPK 1 berpotensi sebagai hepatoprotektor. Kesimpulan: Capsaicin terbukti mempunyai efek proteksi terhadap induksi AFB1; pencegahan terjadinya ekpresi AKT1 dan MAPK1 dan jejas hepatik memiliki potensi kandidat herbal medicine sebagai hepatoprotektor

    The Effectiveness of Ethanol Extract of Red Betel Leaf (Piper crocatum) Againts Mortality of Boophilus microplus Larvae In Vitro

    The aims of this study is to know the effectiveness of ethanol extract of red betel leaf (Piper crocatum) against mortality of Boophilus microplus Larvae in Vitro, as well as knowing lethal concentration 50 (LC50) and lethal concentration 90 (LC90). Method that used in the research was completely randomized design. There were five treatments and each treatment was done in five replications. This research used ten Boophilus microplus larvae in each treatment for all replication. The observation and recording of mortality was done at 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 hours. Boophilus microplus larvae were declared dead if there was no movement. The obtained data was analyzed using ANOVA factorial. The result of this research show that ethanol extract of red betel leaf (Piper crocatum) has effectiveness against mortality of Boophlius microplus larvae in Vitro. In the extract 10% concentration, there is effectiveness that almost the same as Noticks®. The higher concentration of the extract, the higher the effectiveness against mortality lavae.In probit analysis show that LC50 achieved by concentration 5,4% or 2.700mg/50ml and LC90 achieved by concentration 11,3% or 5.650mg/50ml.     The effectiveness of Cinnamomum (Cinnamomum burmannii) Essential Oil on the Reduction of Inflamation Levels in White Rat Livers (Rattus norvegicus) Induced by Streptozotocin

    The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of administration of cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmannii) essential oil on hemorrhage, congestion, and inflammatory cell infiltration in the liver of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by streptozotocin to make artificial Diabetes Mellitus (DM). Thirty adult male rats, aged 2-4 months, weighing 130-140 g were divided into six groups. K (-) control group wasgiven drug solvent, K (+) DM rats were given drug solvent, P1 group DM rats were given glibenclamide 0.45 mg/ Kg BW + drug solvent, P2, P3, P4 were group of DM rats given oil therapy Cinnamon volatile with doses of 100mg/kg BW, 200mg/kg BW, and 400mg/kg BW, respectively. Therapy was given orally for 14 days. At the end of the study, all experimental animals were euthanized and their livers were taken. The liver was made histopathological preparations with Hematoxylin eosin staining and calculated bleeding, congestion, and inflammatory cell infiltration. The results showed that the lowest number of hemorrhage, congestion, and inflammatory cell infiltration was in the negative control group (K-), the highest number in the positive control group (K+), and the lowest in the treatment group was P3. The results showed a decrease, but no significant difference in hemorrhage. There are significant differences in inflammatory cell congestion and infiltration.
