Evaluasi Desain Dan Stabilitas Kapal Penangkap Ikan Di Palabuhanratu (Studi Kasus Kapal Psp 01) Fishing Vessel Design and Stability Evaluation in Palabuhanratu (Case Study of Psp 01 Training-fishing Vessel)

PSP 01 is a training-fishing vessel that was built in a traditional dock yard in Palabuhanratu, so it was not completed with design drawings and stability calculation. This paper discusses on determining the vessel\u27s suitability of design and stability condition followed by redesign of main dimension to obtain more optimal design. Simulation carried out in various load conditions and different vessel sizes to get the considerably ideal size of the vessel. The main dimension ratio and coefficient of fineness analysis showed that the vessel was appropriate as multipurpose vessel for fishing activities. Stability condition of the vessel either empty or in existing load condition met the criteria recommended by IMO with a maximum GZ was 0.33 m and an initial GM was 0.64 m. To improve the stability and fish hold capacity, the breadth and depth needed to be increased. The redesign resulted an alternative size ofmain dimensions which were LOA = 14.30 m; B = 5.14 m; D = 2.12 m

Vasopressin for the management of catecholamine-resistant anaphylactic shock

    Get PDF
Severe anaesthetic anaphylaxis is relatively uncommon. Oxygen, fluids and epinephrine are considered to be the mainstay for treatment of cardiovascular collapse and current guidelines for the management of anaphylaxis list only epinephrine as a vasopressor to use in the event of a cardiovascular collapse. Recently, evidence has emerged in the support of the use of vasopressin in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, it is also recommended for the treatment of ventricular fibrillation, septic shock and post-cardiopulmonary bypass distribution shock. Currently, there is no algorithm or guideline for the management of anaphylaxis that include the use of vasopressin. We report a 24-year-old woman who developed severe anaphylactic shock at induction of anaesthesia while undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Circulation shock was refractory to epinephrine and high doses of pure alpha-agonist phenylephrine and norepinephrine. Single intravenous dose of two units of vasopressin re-established normal circulation and blood pressure

Spontaneous emission by rotating objects: A scattering approach

We study the quantum electrodynamics (QED) vacuum in the presence of a body rotating along its axis of symmetry and show that the object spontaneously emits energy if it is lossy. The radiated power is expressed as a general trace formula solely in terms of the scattering matrix, making an explicit connection to the conjecture of Zel'dovich [JETP Lett. 14, 180 (1971)] on rotating objects. We further show that a rotating body drags along nearby objects while making them spin parallel to its own rotation axis

A diagrammatic expansion of the Casimir energy in multiple reflections: theory and applications

We develop a diagrammatic representation of the Casimir energy of a multibody configuration. The diagrams represent multiple reflections between the objects and can be organized by a few simple rules. The lowest-order diagrams (or reflections) give the main contribution to the Casimir interaction which proves the usefulness of this expansion. Among some applications of this, we find analytical formulae describing the interaction between "edges", i.e. semi-infinite plates, where we also give a first example of blocking in the context of the Casimir energy. We also find the interaction of edges with a needle and describe analytically a recent model of the repulsion due to the Casimir interaction

Possible large direct CP asymmetry in hadronic B+- -> \pi+- \eta' decays

We calculate the branching ratio and direct CP asymmetry in nonleptonic two body B decays B^+- ->\pi^+- \eta'. It is shown that the tree diagram and gluon fusion mechanism via penguin diagram have comparable contributions to these decays which, as a result, could provide an interesting venue for investigating CP violation. Our estimate shows that the direct CP asymmetry in the above decays could be as large as 75% which along with a branching ratio B(B^- ->\pi^- \eta')=3.4 X 10^{-6} should be accessible to experiment in the near future.Comment: 13 pages, Revtex, 4 figures (included

Bragg solitons in nonlinear PT-symmetric periodic potentials

    Get PDF
It is shown that slow Bragg soliton solutions are possible in nonlinear complex parity-time (PT) symmetric periodic structures. Analysis indicates that the PT-symmetric component of the periodic optical refractive index can modify the grating band structure and hence the effective coupling between the forward and backward waves. Starting from a classical modified massive Thirring model, solitary wave solutions are obtained in closed form. The basic properties of these slow solitary waves and their dependence on their respective PT-symmetric gain/loss profile are then explored via numerical simulations.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, published in Physical Review
