Hybrid fuel cell-supercapacitor system: modeling and energy management using Proteus

    Get PDF
The increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) presents a promising solution for achieving sustainable transportation and reducing carbon emissions. To keep pace with technological advancements in the vehicular industry, this paper proposes the development of a hybrid energy storage system (HESS) and an energy management strategy (EMS) for EVs, implemented using Proteus Spice Ver 8. The HESS consists of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) as the primary source and a supercapacitor (SC) as the secondary source. The EMS, integrated into an electronic board based on the STM32, utilizes a low-pass filter algorithm to distribute energy between the sources. The accuracy of the proposed PEMFC and SC models is validated by comparing Proteus simulation results with experimental tests conducted on the Bahia didactic bench and Maxwell SC bench, respectively. To optimize energy efficiency, simulations of the HESS system involve adjusting the hybridization rate through changes in the cutoff frequency. The analysis compares the state-of-charge (SOC) of the SC and the voltage efficiency of the fuel cell (FC), across different frequencies to optimize overall system performance. The results highlight that the chosen strategy satisfies the energy demand while preserving the FC’s dynamic performance and optimizing its utilization to the maximum

ACE-HoT: Accelerating an extreme amount of symmetric Cipher Evaluations for High-Order avalanche Tests

In this work, we tackle the problem of estimating the security of iterated symmetric ciphers in an efficient manner, with tests that do not require a deep analysis of the internal structure of the cipher. This is particularly useful during the design phase of these ciphers, especially for quickly testing several combinations of possible parameters defining several cipher design variants. We consider a popular statistical test that allows us to determine the probability of flipping each cipher output bit, given a small variation in the input of the cipher. From these probabilities, one can compute three measurable metrics related to the well-known full diffusion, avalanche and strict avalanche criteria. This highly parallelizable testing process scales linearly with the number of samples, i.e., cipher inputs, to be evaluated and the number of design variants to be tested. But, the number of design variants might grow exponentially with respect to some parameters. The high cost of CPUs, makes them a bad candidate for this kind of parallelization. As a main contribution, we propose a framework, ACE-HoT, to parallelize the testing process using multi-GPU. Our implementation does not perform any intermediate CPU-GPU data transfers. The diffusion and avalanche criteria can be seen as an application of discrete first-order derivatives. As a secondary contribution, we generalize these criteria to their high-order version. Our generalization requires an exponentially larger number of samples, in order to compute sufficiently accurate probabilities. As a case study, we apply ACE-HoT on most of the finalists of the NIST lightweight standardization process, with a special focus on the winner ASCON

Background: Sickle cell disease is one of the most common genetic disorders in the world, with a high prevalence in Africa. It is a pathology that threatens the maternal-fetal prognosis in case of pregnancy. The objective of this study was to describe the maternal-foetal complications and to identify the factors associated with maternal-foetal complications in sickle cell pregnant women (SP).Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection over a period of 4 years (01 January 2015 to 31 August 2019). The study population was All SP who had given birth in the maternity ward of the UH of Borgou/Alibori.Results: We recorded 130 SP out of 10087 admissions, either a frequency of 1.3%. There were 119/130 exploitable files. Maternal complications during pregnancy were: vaso-occlusive crises 79%; severe anaemia 27.7%; hyponatremia 10.1%; vasculo-renal syndromes 18.4%; infections 74.8%. The foetal complications during pregnancy were: Preterm births 38.6%, in utero deaths 17.6%, low birth weight 54.7%. Early neonatal mortality was 8.4% (8/95). There was a 4.2% (5/119) of maternal deaths. Low educational level of the SP, SS genotype, insufficient antenatal follow-up and antenatal follow-up outside the specialized center for the care of sickle cell pregnant women (SCCSP) were the factors associated with maternal-foetal complications in the SP.Conclusions: The association of pregnancy and sickle cell disease is frequent in West Africa, particularly in Benin, and is characterised by numerous maternal-foetal complications that are associated with certain factors

CLAASP: a Cryptographic Library for the Automated Analysis of Symmetric Primitives

This paper introduces CLAASP, a Cryptographic Library for the Automated Analysis of Symmetric Primitives. The library is designed to be modular, extendable, easy to use, generic, efficient and fully automated. It is an extensive toolbox gathering state-of-the-art techniques aimed at simplifying the manual tasks of symmetric primitive designers and analysts. CLAASP is built on top of Sagemath and is open-source under the GPLv3 license. The central input of CLAASP is the description of a cryptographic primitive as a list of connected components in the form of a directed acyclic graph. From this representation, the library can automatically: (1) generate the Python or C code of the primitive evaluation function, (2) execute a wide range of statistical and avalanche tests on the primitive, (3) generate SAT, SMT, CP and MILP models to search, for example, differential and linear trails, (4) measure algebraic properties of the primitive, (5) test neural-based distinguishers. In this work, we also present a comprehensive survey and comparison of other software libraries aiming at similar goals as CLAASP

More on the profit shifting costs function. Analysis of the literature and other modelling approaches

AbstractIn this paper, we study another approach to the profit shifting costs function of multinational profit shifting. First, we describe the modelling approaches of such costs functions and provide a synthesized analysis. More precisely, we investigate the involved resource costs that multinational firms incur through a tax-motivated reallocation of profit across tax jurisdictions. Second, we set up a simple theoretical model of a representative multinational firm within which we conceptualize our new cost function. We expand the literature by including a relationship between profit shifting costs and tax uncertainty. Furthermore, we describe the costs split, the property of our costs function and we express its parameters. Finally, we discuss our results in conjunction with the literature, emphasizing that profit shifting costs and tax uncertainty cause more concerns for developing countries than advanced economies

Modeling and Control of Fuel Cell/Supercapacitor Hybrid Source Based on Energetic Macroscopic Representation

    Get PDF
In this paper, we present a dynamic simulator that uses a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). This source, is used as a primary source with a supercapacitor (SC) considered as a secondary source. This simulator integrates a PEMFC’s dynamic model, validated on the Bahia bench and a semi-empirical model of SC. The developed model is implemented using the macroscopic energetic representation tool (EMR). The energy management system (EMS) is based on rule-based power management, where a low-pass filter splits the power among sources (PEMFC and SCs) using a cut-off frequency of 0.2Hz, and a controller block that regulates the bus voltage deduced by the EMR’s inversion-based control approach

Effets du stress d immobilisation sur la neurogenèse et les neuropeptides contrôlant la prise alimentaire dans le complexe vagal dorsal chez le rat adulte

    No full text

Contours detection is a key component of many image processing and computer vision. This paper proposes and validates a new efficient gradient method for detecting the contours in grayscale image. This method is based on the average of two derivatives, obtained from two different steps. This mathematical formulation, derived from a discrete numerical differentiation of image, plays a central role in this method. There are presented some operators and mask of discrete functions, which are effective for the detection of contours. Comparison of the mask obtained using the two derivatives operator, with the usual linear masks, allows us to show the efficiency of the new mask
