On the Effect of Correlated Measurements on the Performance of Distributed Estimation

We address the distributed estimation of an unknown scalar parameter in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Sensor nodes transmit their noisy observations over multiple access channel to a Fusion Center (FC) that reconstructs the source parameter. The received signal is corrupted by noise and channel fading, so that the FC objective is to minimize the Mean-Square Error (MSE) of the estimate. In this paper, we assume sensor node observations to be correlated with the source signal and correlated with each other as well. The correlation coefficient between two observations is exponentially decaying with the distance separation. The effect of the distance-based correlation on the estimation quality is demonstrated and compared with the case of unity correlated observations. Moreover, a closed-form expression for the outage probability is derived and its dependency on the correlation coefficients is investigated. Numerical simulations are provided to verify our analytic results.Comment: 5 page

Spectral Data for Generation of Molecular Complexity from Cyclooctatetraene: Preparation of Optically Active Protected Aminocycloheptitols and Bicyclo[4.4.1]undecatriene

Spectral data created in the course of the research project. Supports specific findings in Generation of Molecular Complexity from Cyclooctatetraene: Preparation of Optically Active Protected Aminocycloheptitols and Bicyclo[4.4.1]undecatriene . The racemic (6-cyclo-heptadienyl)Fe(CO)3+ cation ((±)-7), prepared from cyclooctatetraene, was treated with a variety of carbon and heteroatom nucleophiles. Attack took place at the less hindered C1 dienyl carbon and decomplexation of the (cycloheptadiene)Fe(CO)3 complexes gave products rich in functionality for further synthetic manipulation. In particular, a seven-step route was developed from racemic (6-styryl-2,4-cycloheptadien-1-yl)phthalimide ((±)-9 d) to afford the optically active aminocycloheptitols (−)-20 and (+)-20

Translation practices and the nation development: a critical study based on Sri Lanka

Translation is democratizing knowledge. There is a serious demand for Translation and translators in Sri Lanka. There is a considerable lack of good translators. When compared to the contemporary Translation work done in other countries, Sri Lanka is yet to enrich it. In Sri Lanka the Translation practices are not meeting the current demand. Compared to the global trend, today it is not in sufficient to the nation development. There are some contemporary Translation practices, but those are not to the level of expectation. Regarding Translation practices in Sri Lanka there are very few competent translators to meet the needs of the nation. Sri Lanka's multi-lingual and multi-ethnic context, demands more Translation works. In the field of economic, science and information technology. Translations have lost their quality and the public awareness. Unless this situation is remedied, Sri Lanka will be so behind the rest of the world in popular access to disciplinary knowledge, as well as to suffer internally due to the lack of communication between and among its multiple ethnic groups. This research is not a mere attempt to compare both the quality and quantity of Translation in Sri Lanka but it attempts to identify the contribution of Translation practice for the nation development. And the research deals with the social harmony and peace, science and technology and economic development referring the Translation practices. Trans I at ion is a human activity, which enables human beings to exchange ideas and thoughts. Translation acts as a bridge in linking language based communities. Through the Translation the social, cultural and linguistic values are being transferred from one language to another. Translation is an activity of enormous importance in the modern world and it is a needed subject not only to linguists, language teachers and professional translators but also to those who work for social harmony and peace. It is used as an important tool for the development of human race. And the importance of Translation has been thought and practiced from ages. The Translation has become an indispensable necessity all over the world in all movements of life such as academically, administratively, politically, economically, socially and culturally.lt is found through the research that 'The Quality and Quantity of Translations are not satisfactory and sufficient to manage the great demand in the field of Translation for the nation development'. Therefore, it is suggested that the Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka has to pay more attention on the field of Translation in Sri Lanka. And it is suggested that, the government of the socialist republic of Sri Lanka has to establish a National Translation Mission to encourage the Sri Lankan translators, enrich the knowledge and the national integrity and nation development

Optical study of the vibrational and dielectric properties of BiMnO3

BiMnO3 (BMO), ferromagnetic (FM) below Tc = 100 K, was believed to be also ferroelectric (FE) due to a non-centro-symmetric C2 structure, until diffraction data indicated that its space group is the centro-symmetric C2/c. Here we present infrared phonon spectra of BMO, taken on a mosaic of single crystals, which are consistent with C2/c at any T > 10 K, as well as room-temperature Raman data which strongly support this conclusion. We also find that the infrared intensity of several phonons increases steadily for decreasing T, causing the relative permittivity of BMO to vary from 18.5 at 300 K to 45 at 10 K. At variance with FE materials of displacive type, no appreciable softening has been found in the infrared phonons. Both their frequencies and intensities, moreover, appear insensitive to the FM transition at Tc

Suppression of Edge Recombination in InAs/InGaAs DWELL Solar Cells

The InAs/InGaAs DWELL solar cell grown by MBE is a standard pin diode structure with six layers of InAs QDs embedded in InGaAs quantum wells placed within a 200-nm intrinsic GaAs region. The GaAs control wafer consists of the same pin configuration but without the DWELL structure. The typical DWELL solar cell exhibits higher short current density while maintaining nearly the same open-circuit voltage for different scales, and the advantage of higher short current density is more obvious in the smaller cells. In contrast, the smaller size cells, which have a higher perimeter to area ratio, make edge recombination current dominant in the GaAs control cells, and thus their open circuit voltage and efficiency severely degrade. The open-circuit voltage and efficiency under AM1.5G of the GaAs control cell decrease from 0.914V and 8.85% to 0.834V and 7.41%, respectively, as the size shrinks from 5*5mm2 to 2*2mm2, compared to the increase from 0.665V and 7.04% to 0.675V and 8.17%, respectively, in the DWELL solar cells
