On the Morpho-Syntactic Peculiarities of Laysa A Minimalist Program Approach

The inventory of the negation system in Standard Arabic consists of five commonly used negation elements, (viz.laa, lam, Zan, maa, and laysa), (Abbas, H. 1975). They have different distributional and/or temporal properties. However, the properties of laysa are the most peculiar of all the others (Benmamoun1992).For instance, at the morphological level, it behaves like an auxiliary: it is associated with a present tense specification and it inflects for agreement morphology. At the distributional level, and contrary to the other negation elements, it seems independent of its predicate. In this study, conducted with in the minimalist frame work as developed by Chomsky (1995) and followers in subsequent literature, we propose an analysis which accounts for the peculiarities of laysa and allows its unification with laa and its other variants (viz lam, Zan). The essence of the proposed analysis is to consider laysa a complex word composed of a Neg element and a copular verb

The study of personal names is referred to as anthroponomy. It deals with the study of proper names including their forms and use(see Algeo1992:727).Unlike commonnames, personal names have special characteristics: for instance, they might haves pecials pelling. In all thel anguages that use the Latin alphabet including English, these names are almost always capitalized\u27!\u27,In Arabic, however, these names are never orthographically marked. They are never preceded by a morphologically independent article or other limiting modifiers

DAYLIGHTING DRIVEN DESIGN: OPTIMIZING KALEIDOCYCLE FACADE FOR HOT ARID CLIMATE

Facade design has significant impact on daylight. This paper presents a facade based on origami: kaleidocycle rings that can be morphed enhancing daylight performance in residential spaces, which complies with both LEED V4 and Daylight availability. Daylighting analysis was integrated using Grasshopper, Diva and Genetic optimization for a south-oriented living room facade in Cairo, Egypt, through two phases. First phase dealt with base cases of specific typology. Second phase was conducted using parametric optimization process. Results demonstrate that Kaleidocycle rings of 30 cm size and 64 rotation’s angle reached results that exceed LEED v4 requirements while passing Daylight availability standards
