    Quantum Criticality in Dimerized Spin Ladders

    We analyze a possibility of quantum criticality (gaplessness) in dimerized antiferromagnetic two- and three-leg spin-1/2 ladders. Contrary to earlier studies of these models, we examine different dimerization patterns in the ladder. We find that ladders with the columnar dimerization order have lower zero-temperature energies and they are always gapped. For the staggered dimerization order, we find the quantum critical lines, in agreement with earlier analyses. The bond mean-field theory we apply, demonstrates its quantitative accuracy and agrees with available numerical results. We conclude that unless some mechanism for locking dimerization into the energetically less favorable staggered configuration is provided, the dimerized ladders do not order into the phase where the quantum criticality occurs.Comment: 7 pages, 9 figure

    Exposure to the News Networks Through Social Media Sites and Their Reflections on Spreading Rumors among Students – Field Study

    The scientific study aimed to identify rumors in the students society in the age of social media sites and confrontation mechanisms. The research community included a sample of experts who use new media. Descriptive and statistical approaches (interviews and questionnaires) are used to analyze and understand rumors through social media sites and how to confront them. The study came up with results, the most important of them are as follows: 62% of the research community believes that students (young people) use of news networks via social media sites affects the spread of rumors, while 63% of the research community considers that the quality of social media sites used by young people helps spread rumors, and 43% of the research community agree that technology users are predominantly young people, which helps spread the rumor. Finally, the study recommended that news sites pay attention to the method of dealing with crises, investigate accuracy and credibility, and increase the effective communication between the leaders and students institutions

    Determinants of nutritional outcome among beneficiaries of Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre

    Background: Under Mission Balam Sukham, children of 6 months to 5 years having severe acute malnutrition (SAM) along with complications are managed at Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC). They are admitted for 14 days with the provision of a nutritional diet and medicines. Objectives: To explore determinants of nutritional outcome of SAM children admitted at NRC Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted comprising 63 children aged 6 months to 5 years having SAM along with complications admitted at NRC of New Civil Hospital, Surat (NCHS) for 10 months. Results: The majority of participants were boys (54%), 12-23 months of age (50.8%), and Grade III socioeconomic class (39.6%). The duration of stay ranged from 2-36 days. The average duration of stay was 12.78 + 6.49 days; 14.26 ± 5.99 days for boys and 11.10 + 6.73 for girls. 18.8% stayed at NRC for 14 days. The average weight gain was 5.46 g/kg/day. A significant improvement in weight was seen in boys (t=2.20, p<0.05), working mothers (t=2.44, p<0.01), exclusively breastfed children (t=3.62, p<0.01) of 6-11 months, full-term children of 12-23 months (t=4.0, p<0.05). The children of 12-23 months (t=2.90, p<0.01) and boys (t=2.15, p<0.05) showed significant improvement in underweight (WAZ). Wasting improved significantly in age below 36 months (p<0.05). 20.6% could achieve the target weight. Conclusion: NRC is an effective life-saving modality for malnutrition but its outcome is associated with factors like boys, exclusive breastfeeding, and full-term

    Patient’s Perception of Community Pharmacist in North Malabar region of Kerala, India: A questionnaire based study

    Pharmacists as vital healthcare professionals play significant role in effective medication management and their use among the patients. However the perception of community pharmacist  among the public needs to be assessed for effective role and further patient care. This questionnaire based study was aimed to identify the perception of patients towards the community pharmacist in north Malabar region of Kerala, India. The questionnaire consisted of 16 questions with sections evaluating the demographic details (age, sex, marital status, education level & occupation) and the perception of patients towards the community pharmacist. The results were prepared based upon the responses obtained from 110 patients. The study respondents consisted of 51 (46.36%) adults (18-59 years) and 59 (53.63%) geriatrics (above 60 years). Based on their education level, 9 (8.18%), 35 (31.81%) and 66 (60%) participants were illiterate, secondary school and graduate holders respectively. The respondents of the study informed that the pharmacist enquired about their past medication history (58, 52.73%), any allergic reactions (21, 19.1%) and use of any herbal medication (31, 28.18%) prior to the dispensing process. The patients also responded that proper advice regarding dosage (90%), side effects (25%), storage (12%), healthy eating & exercise (10%) were also provided by the concerned pharmacist. As a matter of fact, 91 out of 110 patients thought the pharmacist service were good, 17 thought they were fairly good and 2 were of the opinion that it was poor. The pharmacy rating was evaluated as good by 32 (29.09%), fairly good by 78 (70.90%) and no respondents were of opinion that the pharmacy was poor in its service. Through this study, we found that the overall perception of patients towards the pharmacist in concerned community pharmacy setting was good. To further improvise their role, continued pharmacy education programmes, better communication skills and good professional training must be imparted among the community pharmacists

Encryption and decryption of files and file names which is used symmetric and asymmetric algorithm respectively. The unique key is generated for every users to protect other user cannot access the files. While implementing this project the user can understand very simple environment. The user can reduce incapable systems in server side process to hold most of the processes. The client side system has used less work for the corresponding task to perform the necessary role like arranging and ranking the files from requested order. This project can apply in various applications for this user friendly

    Active absorbent for the removal of SO2 in flue gas from combustion system was prepared from oil palm ash,calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) and calcium sulfate (CaSO4) using water hydration process. The effect of various absorbent preparation variables; hydration period, amount of oil palm ash and amount of CaSO4 used in the preparation mixture towards the BET (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) specific surface area of the resulting absorbent were studied using Central Composite Design (CCD).     Natural genetic variation in Calligonum Tunisian genus analyzed by RAPD markers

    The Calligonum genus is one of the most economically important resources of the Tunisian desert, playing an important role in the lives of desert local population. A great range of genetic diversity could be seen in diverse populations of this genus which are spread all over Tunisian areas. DNA-based molecular markers are playing increasingly important role in the analysis of genetic diversity in wide range of plants. This study is an attempt to collect, compile and collate information on the existing natural genetic diversity, at intra-specific and inter-populational levels in Calligonum genus (C.azel, C.arich and C.comosum). This study deals with 16 genotypes of Calligonum (Polygonaceae) collected from different regions of Tunisian desert using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) marker. In total, 46 polymorphic bands amplified by 4 random primers, with the polymorphic rate of 89.06% were recorded. The commercial software package SPSS 16 was used to develop similar matrices based on the Dice coefficient which is defined as 2a/2a+u, where “a” is the number of positive matches and “u” is the number of non-matches. From the analysis, it is imperative that predominantly obligate out breeding behavior of Calligonum genus, helps these diverse accessions to spread and occupy specific geographical niches in the Tunisian arid regions.Key words: Calligonum, genetic diversity, Inter-specific variation, RAPD marker, Tunisian desert

    In the title compound, C20H21N5O, the conformation about the imine bond [1.289 (3) Å] is E. Overall, the mol­ecule is disk-shaped with the imidazole ring located above the remainder of the mol­ecule and with the dihedral angles of 10.97 (15) and 12.11 (15)°, respectively, between the imidazole ring and the phenyl and methyl­benzene rings; the dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 8.17 (14)°. Within the urea unit, the N—H atoms are anti to each other and one of the N—H atoms forms an intra­molecular N—H⋯N hydrogen bond. Helical supra­molecular chains along [001] are formed via N—H⋯N(imidazole) hydrogen bonds in the crystal structure. These are connected into a three-dimensional architecture by C—H⋯O(carbon­yl) and C—H⋯π inter­actions

    Micromechanical modeling of the machining behavior of natural fiber-reinforced polymer composites

    This paper aims to develop a 2D finite element (FE) model at microscale for numerical simulation of the machining behavior of natural fiber-reinforced polymer (NFRP) composites. The main objective of this study is to reproduce the experimentally observed specific cutting behavior of natural fibers within the composite material. Flax fiber-reinforced polypropylene (PP) composites are modeled separately using an elasto-plastic behavior with a ductile damage criterion for flax fibers and PP matrix, while the microscopic interfaces are represented using the cohesive zone modeling (CZM). Numerical outputs are compared with experimental results for the FE model validation. Results show that the proposed FE model can reproduce the cutting force with a good precision for a large cutting speed range (12–80 m/min). The FE model shows also an efficiency and accuracy in predicting the cutting behavior of flax fibers by reproducing the fiber deformation, the fibers torn-off, and the fracture of the interfaces during machining. Moreover, the FE model can be an effective tool for analyzing the quality of the microscopic interfaces in the NFRP composites after machining

    Metallic Cylinder Reflected Power Measurement For 93.1GHz Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave Radar Calibration

    A metallic cylinder is one of the best materials and shapes to calibrate a radar system performance. The measurement of a 4cm diameter and 3cm-height metallic cylinder as a target has been presented for the analysis at the millimeter-wave (mm-wave) spectrum. This experiment was conducted in a real airport environment at Kuala Lumpur International Airport considering clear sky conditions. The measurement was carried out at 93.1 GHz which uses Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar to consistently detect the target. The radar cross-section (RCS) of the metallic cylinder is measured with respect to the angle of runway pavement. It is found that the measurements exhibited smaller RCS value with an average of –43.47 dBsm at a longer range compared to –30.16 dBsm at a shorter range with a total change of 13.31 dBsm. The reflectivity characteristics of the radar target, theoretical measurement of the metallic cylinder, its incident angle from the radar target, and measurement evaluation are presented in this paper
