Escherichia coli Phosphoenolpyruvate-Dependent Phosphotransferase System. Evidence That the Dimer Is the Active Form of Enzyme I

In vitro kinetic measurements have been performed by using purified HPr, EI, and a membrane fraction of EII from the Escherichia coli phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent sugar transport system. These measurements reveal very large lag times in the formation of methyl α-glucoside phosphate which are a function of the EI and the EII concentrations. The lag times decrease with increasing concentrations of EI but they increase with increasing concentrations of EII. When EI, together with Mg2+ and phosphoenolpyruvate, is preincubated at 37 °C before starting the kinetic measurements, the lag time can be decreased or eliminated. We have shown that the process responsible for the lag time is the activation of EI by dimerization which is influenced by Mg2+ and phosphoenolpyruvate

Proximité professionnelle et distance scolaire : les jeunes ouvriers qualifiés et leurs trajectoires

À partir d’une enquête qualitative réalisée au sein d’une entreprise de l’industrie automobile, il s’agit dans cet article d’analyser les discours tenus sur l’école et la trajectoire scolaire par des individus classés comme ouvriers qualifiés. Trois types de trajectoire scolaire, qui sont indissociablement trois manières de relire son parcours à l’aune de sa situation présente, peuvent ainsi être distingués: les « repêchés de la relégation», les « recalés de l’enseignement supérieur» et « l’élite des réprouvés». Ces différents types de trajectoire scolaire sont au principe d’une hiérarchisation indigène au sein du groupe des ouvriers qualifiés, qui pose la question de l’unité subjective de la catégorie.Based on a qualitative survey done in an automobile company, the article herein analyses qualified workers’ particular school backgrounds and their views regarding school. Three types of school backgrounds, which are inseparably three ways to view their own career pathways in relation to their present situations, can be detected: those who “barely made it through”, those who “failed in college” and the “best of those who have been turned away”. Those different types of school backgrounds are the basis of an internal hierarchical system within the group of qualified workers that raises the question of subjective unity in that social class.A partir de una encuesta cualitativa realizada dentro de una empresa de la industria automovilística, este artículo analiza los discursos hechos sobre la escuela y la trayectoria escolar por individuos clasificados como obreros cualificados. Tres tipos de trayectoria escolar, que son indisociablemente tres maneras de comprender su trayectoria según la situación presente, pueden diferenciarse como sigue : los «rescatados de la relegación», «los suspendidos de la enseñanza superior» y « la élite de los reprobados ». Estos diferentes tipos de trayectoria escolar representan un principio de jerarquización indígena en el seno del grupo de los obreros cualificados, que plantea la cuestión de la unidad subjetiva de la categoría.Auf Grund einer in einer Firma der Automobilindustrie geführten qualitativen Untersuchung handelt es sich in diesem Artikel darum, die Art und Weise zu analysieren, auf die sogenannte qualifizierte Arbeiter über Schule und schulische Laufbahn sprechen. Drei Typen von schulischer Laufbahn können unterschieden werden, die von drei Art und Weisen nicht zu trennen sind, die eigene Laufbahn nach dem Maß seiner aktuellen Situation abzuschätzen: die „Knapp-Durchgekommenen“, die „An-der-Hochschule-Durchgefallenen“ und die „Elite der Geächteten“. Diese verschiedenen Laufbahn-Typen sind im Prinzip einer eigenen Hierarchisierung in der Gruppe der qualifizierten Arbeiter unterworfen, die die Frage der subjektiven Einheit der Kategorie aufwirft
