    Minimal Uncertainty in Momentum: The Effects of IR Gravity on Quantum Mechanics

    The effects of the IR aspects of gravity on quantum mechanics is investigated. At large distances where due to gravity the space-time is curved, there appears nonzero minimal uncertainty Δp0\Delta p_{0} in the momentum of a quantum mechanical particle. We apply the minimal uncertainty momentum to some quantum mechanical interferometry examples and show that the phase shift depends on the area surrounded by the path of the test particle . We also put some limits on the related parameters. This prediction may be tested through future experiments. The assumption of minimal uncertainty in momentum can also explain the anomalous excess of the mass of the Cooper pair in a rotating thin superconductor ring.Comment: 8 pages, revised version accepted by PR

    Gravitomagnetic Resonance Shift due to a Slowly Rotating Compact Star

    The effect of a slowly rotating mass on a forced harmonic oscillator with two degrees of freedom is studied in the weak field approximation. It is found that according to the general theory of relativity there is a shift in the resonat frequency of the oscillator which depends on the density and rotational frequency of the gravitational source. The proposed shift is quite small under normal physical situations however it is estimated that for compact x-ray sources such as white dwarfs, pulsars, and neutron stars the shift is quite appreciable.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures, Accepted for Publication in Inter.     Riau Islands Province is an island-based region consisting of a group of islands. The Province has a very strategic geographic location due to bordering the neighboring countries in Southeast Asia, viz. Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Vietnam. It is different from other an Island-based province, in which it lies in the hub areas of Malacca Strait. It shows that the Province is an important location to trade from America, Europe, and Asia, in addition to a plenty of marine resources that will potentially maximize local government's revenue and prosper society in the province. However, such marine resources have not been well-managed by the local government by which in 2013 the figure shows poverty rate remains high. The decline of poverty rate counts only in urban areas where they do not lie in submarine areas, but the poverty has increased and could not be well-resolved. It asserts that the Government of Riau Islands has not maximized local powers to resolve poverty problems in the region. Keywords: Policy, Local Government, National Marine Resource

    Chaotic Accretion in a Non-Stationary Electromagnetic Field of a Slowly Rotating Compact Star

    We investigate charge accretion in vicinity of a slowly rotating compact star with a non-stationary electromagnetic field. Exact solutions to the general relativistic Maxwell equations are obtained for a star formed of a highly degenerate plasma with a gravitational field given by the linearized Kerr metric. These solutions are used to formulate and then to study numerically the equations of motion for a charged particle in star's vicinity using the gravitoelectromagnetic force law. The analysis shows that close to the star charge accretion does not always remain ordered. It is found that the magnetic field plays the dominant role in the onset of chaos near the star's surface.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure

    REPRODUCTIVE EFFICIENCY OF JERSEY COWS UNDER SUBTROPICAL CONDITIONS OF THE PUNJAB

    Various parameters of reproductive efficiency of Jersey cows kept at the Livestock Experiment Station, Bhunikey (Pattoki), District Kasur, for the period from 1991 to 2000 were studied. The average values of age at maturity and age at first calving were 615.48 ± 8.23 and 926.48 ± 10.29 days, respectively and the differences of these parameters during different seasons of birth were statistically non-significant. The average calving to first insemination interval, service period and calving interval were 86.65 ± 1.71, 152.66 ± 4.85 and 430.15 ± 4.87 days, respectively. The differences of calving to first insemination interval among cows calved during different seasons were statistically non-significant. But the differences of calving to first insemination interval during 1st lactation were significant (P<0.05) with those of 6th, 7th and 9th lactations. Service period and calving interval in the Jersey cows calved during humid hot season were significantly (P<0.05) shorter as compared to those of cows calved during dry hot and spring seasons. Effect of parity on the service period was non-significant, but the effect of parity on the calving interval was significant (P<0.05), when the difference of calving interval during 7th and 8th lactation was compared. The average number of services per conception was 2.81 ± 0.09. The effect of parity on the number of services per conception was significant (P<0.05). The average gestation period was 277.63 ± 0.21 days. Higher gestation period was observed in cows carrying male calves than those carrying female calves (P<0.05). The frequency of calvings during winter, spring, dry hot, humid hot and autumn seasons was 19.32, 19.20, 9.79, 33.25 and 18.44 percent, respectively

    The aims of this research is to analyze result of the student's work in resolving problem about word problem. The method of this research is descriptive method in form of case study. The subject of the research is from VIII class of SMP Negeri 6 Pontianak which amounted to 6 students. The results of data analysis that strategies of problem-solving used shows strategies being applied by the students such as are thinking logically, find patterns, and symbolic model used by 6 students, picture's assistance used by 4 students, estimation used by 1 students, and moving backward used by 2 students. There are two kinds of problem solving phases being applied among students such as are 4 students perform 3 phases of problem-solving, while 2 students perform 2 phases of problem-solving and there is difference at strategy, and phases of problem-solving being applied by students from top academic ability, middle academic ability, and low academi cability

    Pengaruh Perendaman Larutan KOH Dan NaOH Terhadap Kualitas Alginat Rumput Laut Sargassum Polycycstum C.A. Agardh

    Sargassum polycystum seaweed is a type of brown algae that contains alginate. Alginate from S. polycystum did not optimally and alginate has an importnat role from a variety of industries. Alginate ekstraction obtained by submersion wes using NaOH and KOH solvent, then continued using Na2CO3 solvent. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of immersion with KOH and NaOH with concentration 0,3%, 0,5% and 0,7% solution to the quality alginate from brown seaweed S. polycystum. Experimental design used was Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). The results showed that aging of the KOH solution has a lower water content and higher viscosity than NaOH solution. The concentration of the solution used also affects the yield, moisture content, ash content and viscosity alginate S. polycystum. The higher concentration of the solution then the yield, moisture content and lower ash content, while viscosity alginate increased. The best results obtained in the treatment with a solution of KOH concentration of 0.7%

    Implementasi Pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar dan Disposisi Matematis

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan pendidikan matematika realistik terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar dan disposisi matematis siswa di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 2 Pontianak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pre-eksperimental dengan rancangan penelitian one group pretest-posttest dengan subjeknya adalah 37 siswa kelas VII C di SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes essay untuk mengukur hasil belajar dan angket untuk mengukur disposisi matematis siswa. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan pendekatan pendidikan matematika realistik berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar dengan Effect Size 4,55 berkategori tinggi dan disposisi matematis dengan Effect Size 0,93 berkategori tinggi.     Ruppeiner Geometry of RN Black Holes: Flat or Curved?

    In some recent studies \cite{aman1, aman2, aman3}, Aman {\it et al.} used the Ruppeiner scalar as a measure of underlying interactions of Reissner-Nordstr\"{o}m black holes, indicating that it is a non-interacting statistical system for which classical thermodynamics could be used at any scale. Here, we show that if we use the complete set of thermodynamic variables, a non-flat state space will be produced. Furthermore, the Ruppeiner curvature diverges at extremal limits, as it would for other types of black holes.Comment: 9 page
