    Concomitant use of isotretinoin and lasers with implications for future guidelines: An updated systematic review

    It is generally believed that intervention on skin while on isotretinoin or within 6 to 12 months after treatment can lead to prolonged healing and abnormal scarring. The objective of this systematic review is to evaluate the body of evidence on concomitant use of isotretinoin and lasers for adverse events as a consequence of treatment. A PRISMA‐compliant systematic review (Systematic Review Registration Number: CRD42017056492) of 12 electronic databases was conducted for the terms “laser” and “isotretinoin” or associated brand names from inception until June 2020. Subsequent reference search of studies meeting predefined inclusion criteria were conducted, and all articles were evaluated for bias and assigned levels of evidence to facilitate data synthesis. The search strategy produced 29 studies. Of 871 patients included in the studies of interest, 12 experienced transient adverse effects that resolved spontaneously, and only two presented with keloid formation, both from case reports. This systematic review suggests the risk associated with concomitant isotretinoin and laser use is small to absent.     Gravitomagnetic Resonance Shift due to a Slowly Rotating Compact Star

    The effect of a slowly rotating mass on a forced harmonic oscillator with two degrees of freedom is studied in the weak field approximation. It is found that according to the general theory of relativity there is a shift in the resonat frequency of the oscillator which depends on the density and rotational frequency of the gravitational source. The proposed shift is quite small under normal physical situations however it is estimated that for compact x-ray sources such as white dwarfs, pulsars, and neutron stars the shift is quite appreciable.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures, Accepted for Publication in Inter.     Chaotic Accretion in a Non-Stationary Electromagnetic Field of a Slowly Rotating Compact Star

    We investigate charge accretion in vicinity of a slowly rotating compact star with a non-stationary electromagnetic field. Exact solutions to the general relativistic Maxwell equations are obtained for a star formed of a highly degenerate plasma with a gravitational field given by the linearized Kerr metric. These solutions are used to formulate and then to study numerically the equations of motion for a charged particle in star's vicinity using the gravitoelectromagnetic force law. The analysis shows that close to the star charge accretion does not always remain ordered. It is found that the magnetic field plays the dominant role in the onset of chaos near the star's surface.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure

    Transcendence over Diversity: black women in the academy

    Universities, like many major public institutions have embraced the notion of ‘diversity’ virtually uncritically- it is seen as a moral ‘good in itself’. But what happens to those who come to represent ‘diversity’- the black and minority ethnic groups targeted to increase the institutions thirst for global markets and aversion to accusations of institutional racism? Drawing on existing literature which analyses the process of marginalization in higher education, this paper explores the individual costs to black and female academic staff regardless of the discourse on diversity. However despite the exclusion of staff, black and minority ethnic women are also entering higher education in relatively large numbers as students. Such ‘grassroots’ educational urgency transcends the dominant discourse on diversity and challenges presumptions inherent in top down initiatives such as ‘widening participation’. Such a collective movement from the bottom up shows the importance of understanding black female agency when unpacking the complex dynamics of gendered and racialised exclusion. Black women’s desire for education and learning makes possible a reclaiming of higher education from creeping instrumentalism and reinstates it as a radical site of resistance and refutation

    Performance of sustainable alkali activated mortars containing solid waste ceramic powder

    As the cement industry contributed to increasing the global carbon dioxide emissions, researchers looked for other sustainable alternatives. Among them, one of the alternatives is alkali activated mortar containing no cement at all. Alkali-activated mortar is manufactured using industrial and agricultural wastes like ceramics, palm-oil fuel ash (POFA), granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS), fly ash (FA), metakaolin (MK), etc. Compared with Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), alkali-activated is considered as a highly environmental product based mortar. The alkali activated mortar feasibility production using ceramic waste binder was evaluated in this study. The effect of replacing GBFS binder by ceramic powder (by varying percentage) upon its fresh-state properties, like workability, setting time, density and hardened properties such as compressive, tensile and flexural strengths of alkali-activated mortar was concurrently examined. The impact of curing regime on strength development of ceramic-GBFS based alkali activated was evaluated as well. Results revealed that with increased ceramic to GBFS content, the workability and setting time of mortar improved whereas the density decreased. On the other hand, when ceramic was replaced by up to 50 % of GBFS, it showed higher strengths as compared to OPC mortar. It is concluded that alkali activated mortar incorporating 100 percent wastes could be used in the construction industry with the almost negligible amount of environmental problems

    Structure design of Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital designed by SNI 03‒2847‒2002 and SNI 1726‒2012, where analysis of earthquake load structure the building made by Spectrum Analysis Method of Dynamic Response. The analysis dynamic response spectrum of building structure is included in Seismic Design Criteria of type D with high seismicity level of risk, so that the planning system is the method used by the building frame structure configuration bearers Special Moment Frame System(Sway‒special). Sway‒special system is designed to be the building does not collapse during an earthquake in excess of the earthquake that has been designed, therefore Sway‒special the model is designed to qualify the strong column weak beam, where the columns are designed to withstand the beam when the beam undergo plastic hinge. Additionally joint should also be designed to prevent well collapse when the beam experiencing first plastic hinge. The structure design of Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital has asymmetrical shape configuration , so when an earthquake the building will undergo rotational stiffness caused by the center of mass and the center of rigidity is not located in a single point, so that should be dilated so that the center of mass and center of stiffness becomes coincide

    Effect of binder to fine aggregate content on performance of sustainable alkali activated mortars incorporating solid waste materials

    This article investigated the effects of binder to aggregate ratio on the properties of granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) alkali activated mortar incorporated with fly ash (FA), waste ceramic (CP) and bottle glass wastes (GP). Five types of alkali-activated mortars were prepared with a different binder to fine aggregate ratio (B:A) 0.30, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5. Sodium hydroxide (NH) with 6 molar concentrations added to sodium silicate (NS) and used as alkali activator solution, alkaline liquid to binder ratio (S:B) was kept 0.25 for all mixtures. Alkali-activated samples cured at ambient temperature (27 °C) and relative humidity (75 %). The results indicated that 1.0 (B:A) ratio was achieved the optimum results flow and bending stress, increasing binder to fine aggregate content effect negatively on workability and strength properties of alkali-activated mortars. The results also presented the porosity of alkali-activated samples has been influenced by increase binder content to fine aggregate from 1.0 to 2.5

    Hairy roots induction and artemisinin analysis in Artemisia dubia and Artemisia indica

    Transformation of two Artemisia species (Artemisia dubia and Artemisia indica) was carried out by using two Agrobacterium rhizogenes strains LBA 9402 and 8196 for hairy roots production. Induction of hairy roots was higher in both Artemisia species when infected with LBA9402 as compared to 8196. When biomass of roots along with their artemisinin content was evaluated, a significant effect of Agrobacterium strain on fresh weight of roots was observed. While artemisinin content was significantly affected by both plant species as well as Agrobacterium strains used for infection. However roots of A. dubia infected either with LBA9402 or 8196 produced maximum artemisinin (0.603% and 0.753, respectively). When transformed roots were cultured in liquid medium, highest root fresh weight as well as artemisinin content (3.9 g and 0.042%, respectively) was observed in hairy roots of A. indica induced by Agrobacterium 819
