Global Capital Markets - An Updated Profile

    Get PDF
More than two decades after the beginning of the financial revolution, globalization of capital flows still attracts considerable attention, from both practitioners and academics. The aim of this paper is to contribute to understanding of some aspects of the global capital scene, as well as to emphasise certain developments which might illustrate its changing profile. Several fundamental perspectives profile the global capital market. A quantitative review provides a sense of sheer volumes, trends, origins and destinations of capital flows; an assessment of the global capital markets degree of integration follows. The emergence of new (types of) actors is another important aspect of the global processes, while illustrations of new market products and emerging segments may add new perspectives on the profile of the global capital market. Finally, the paper concludes with a brief overview of digitalisation of the financial supply chain.Capital markets, Innovation, Electronic trading

Exigency Politics or New World Order?

    Get PDF
Since the onset of the current crisis, numerous intergovernmental organizations made declarations and plans, but only national packages were implemented to minimize adverse effects to real (national) economies. Despite the fact that capital markets have long ago become increasingly complex with a multitude of actors, a state-level approach remains firmly in place. This paper aims to present political responses to the crisis, identifying how politicians envision the future of capital markets and the world economy. The financial crisis might have been a direct motive to start a global political interplay regarding regulation, but it was also a unique opportunity for numerous actors to start pressing for their own agenda vis-à-vis the global economic and political order. Reviewing the responses of several of the most prominent actors on the scene may contribute to understanding how close the world is to having a new financial - or even economic - structure on the global level.Crisis, Capital markets, Regulation, Political agendas

Use of a Laser Scanning System for Professional Preparation and Scene Assessment of Fire Rescue Units

    Get PDF
The paper presents results of a study focused on usability of a 3D laser scanning system by fire rescue units during emergencies, respectively during preparations for inspection and tactical exercises. The first part of the study focuses on an applicability of a 3D scanner in relation to an accurate evaluation of a fire scene through digitization and creation of virtual walk-through of the fire scene. The second part deals with detailed documentation of access road to the place of intervention, including a simulation of the fire vehicle arrival

The Similarity Problem for Z-stable C*-algebras

We show that the tensor product of two unital C*-algebras, one of which is nuclear and admits a unital *-homomorphism from (the building blocks of) the Jiang-Su algebra, has Kadison's similarity property. As a consequence, we obtain that a unital C*-algebra which absorbs the Jiang-Su algebra tensorially also has this property.Comment: 6 page

Almost contact B-metric manifolds with curvature tensors of K\"ahler type

On 5-dimensional almost contact B-metric manifolds, the form of any K\"ahler-type tensor (i.e. a tensor satisfying the properties of the curvature tensor of the Levi-Civita connection in the special class of the parallel structures on the manifold) is determined. The associated 1-forms are derived by the scalar curvatures of the K\"ahler-type tensor for the canonical connection on the manifolds from the main classes with closed 1-forms.Comment: 12 page
