Culture Shock-One of Common Problems in Intercultural Communication
Communicating successfully with people from different cultures can be a real challenge. Cultural differences may lead to tensions, arguments, and even wars between peoples and nations. This paper deals with one of the most common problems in intercultural communication-cultural shock, it introduces its concepts and basic traits, causes and symptoms, stages of adjustment and strategies of overcoming culture shock with the aim of improving intercultural communication competence for smoothing intercultural communication
A silicon knife design and fabrication
In this thesis, the design and fabrication of a silicon knife is described. The device design is based on the principle of oxidation sharpening.
The knife is made from a silicon wafer and can be made to be any chosen length up to 150 mm. It was made with the same basic procedures used in semiconductor chip manufacturing. This type of processing/manufacturing results in a knife with a high degree of sharpness and smoothness compared with existing knife technology.
The knife fabrication plan combines IC processing, techniques including anisotropic and isotropic etching of silicon, plasma dry etching and chemical etching dry oxidation, and KOH etching
Outstanding supercapacitive properties of Mn-doped TiO2 micro/nanostructure porous film prepared by anodization method.
Mn-doped TiO2 micro/nanostructure porous film was prepared by anodizing a Ti-Mn alloy. The film annealed at 300 °C yields the highest areal capacitance of 1451.3 mF/cm(2) at a current density of 3 mA/cm(2) when used as a high-performance supercapacitor electrode. Areal capacitance retention is 63.7% when the current density increases from 3 to 20 mA/cm(2), and the capacitance retention is 88.1% after 5,000 cycles. The superior areal capacitance of the porous film is derived from the brush-like metal substrate, which could greatly increase the contact area, improve the charge transport ability at the oxide layer/metal substrate interface, and thereby significantly enhance the electrochemical activities toward high performance energy storage. Additionally, the effects of manganese content and specific surface area of the porous film on the supercapacitive performance were also investigated in this work

Low-carbon Economy and Research on the Strategy Transformation of China’s Small and Medium Enterprises
At present, low-carbon economy has become the great trend in the development of global economy under the serious climate environment gradually. China’s small and medium enterprises (SME) have taken the large proportions in national economy, which face large amount of opportunities and challenges in the wave of reform. This article analyses the current situation and the problems on development strategy, technology innovation and the path of reform of China’s SME, which takes examples by the SME in some regions to improve the operating environments. It expects to change the extensive production mode, strengthen the management capability and technology innovation in China’s SME. Under the basis of this research, the article concludes the relevant strategy transformation modes, which provides the references and evidences for China’s SME
High dimensional latent panel quantile regression with an application to asset pricing
We propose a generalization of the linear panel quantile regression model to
accommodate both \textit{sparse} and \textit{dense} parts: sparse means while
the number of covariates available is large, potentially only a much smaller
number of them have a nonzero impact on each conditional quantile of the
response variable; while the dense part is represent by a low-rank matrix that
can be approximated by latent factors and their loadings. Such a structure
poses problems for traditional sparse estimators, such as the
-penalised Quantile Regression, and for traditional latent factor
estimator, such as PCA. We propose a new estimation procedure, based on the
ADMM algorithm, consists of combining the quantile loss function with
\textit{and} nuclear norm regularization. We show, under general conditions,
that our estimator can consistently estimate both the nonzero coefficients of
the covariates and the latent low-rank matrix.
Our proposed model has a "Characteristics + Latent Factors" Asset Pricing
Model interpretation: we apply our model and estimator with a large-dimensional
panel of financial data and find that (i) characteristics have sparser
predictive power once latent factors were controlled (ii) the factors and
coefficients at upper and lower quantiles are different from the median
