A Study of the Revitalization of Indigenous People Annual Rituals in Taiwan

    Get PDF
Over the past 400 years, Taiwan\u27s indigenous people annual rituals have been lost due to the assimilation of foreign regimes and the influence of modern urbanization. However, under the influence of modern social life style and political power, the annual rituals became performance and lost their original significance. But also because of its regeneration, the culture of Taiwan\u27s indigenous people has been revitalized, and has the role of identity and continuity. However, because of the restoration of the annual rituals, the culture of the aborigines has been revitalized, and the role of recognition and continuity has been generated in Taiwan

The entrainer effect on azeotropic distillation column design

A rigorous multistage distillation model was developed for use with non-ideal multicomponent systems. A subsidiary computer program was also developed to handle the problem of two liquid phases after condensation of a vapor. Using the program developed, entrainer entry location and rate effects have been investigated via computer simulation for azeotropic distillation columns. The specific example used to verify the procedure was an ethanol dehydration column using benzene as the entrainer. The results indicate that the entrainer should enter the column two to five theoretical stages above the feed. The optimum entrainer rate was also determined. The overhead vapor product from the azeotropic column, upon condensing to a subcooled liquid, forms two liquid phases in the accumulator. A two-liquid phase separation model was used to deal with the liquid phase splitting. This model has been validated using published data for nonideal ternary and quaternary systems. A study of the accumulator temperature effect on liquid phase splitting was also accomplished for the ethanol dehydration column. The results indicate that at lower accumulator temperatures the benzene loss in the heavy phase can be reduced. Finally, the azeotropic distillation model and the two-liquid phase flash model were included in a representation of a complete industrial ethanol purification plant. Incorporated in the plant simulation is the azeotropic column, two-liquid phase accumulator, a benzene stripping column and an ethanol recovery/water purge column. The ability of this model to converge on the benzene entrainer stream was verified

The Asian Difference in B2B E-Marketplace

This study contends that the low rate of e-marketplace acceptance by Asian firms cannot be fully understood without analyzing the context within which technology is exploited. Current IOS (Inter-Organizational Systems) studies emphasize the removal of barriers to e-marketplace acceptance in relation to technological, organizational, and inter-organizational factors. However, the contextual influences of IOS are largely ignored. We highlight three levels of contextual influences – structural, national/regional, and socio-cultural – that shape the adopters’ expectation of e-marketplace applications in three Asian regions (India, Taiwan, and China). Our study formulates arguments that attempt to flesh out the constraint of context as one of the most significant, but often neglected, dimensions of e-marketplace acceptance

Sequencing-Based Approaches Reveal Low Ambient Temperature-Responsive and Tissue-Specific MicroRNAs in Phalaenopsis Orchid

Plant small RNAs (smRNAs) are short, non-coding RNA molecules that mediate RNA silencing and regulate a group of genes involved in plant development and responses to environmental stimuli. Low temperature is necessary to initiate stalk development in the orchid Phalaenopsis aphrodite subsp. formosana. To identify smRNAs in Phalaenopsis responding to low temperatures, a smRNA profiling analysis using high-throughput sequencing technology was performed. Subsequent bioinformatic analysis was applied to categorize the miRNAs identified. A total of 37,533,509 smRNA reads yielded 11,129 independent orchid miRNA sequences, representing 329 known miRNA families identified in other plant species. Because the genomic resources available for Phalaenopsis are limited, a transcriptomic database was established using deep sequencing data sets to identify miRNAs precursors and their target transcripts. Comparing small RNAs and the transcriptomic database, 14 putative miRNA precursors of 10 miRNA families were identified, as were hundreds of putative targets. Comparing sequencing data and smRNA northern hybridization results identified miR156, miR162, miR528 and miR535 as low temperature-induced miRNAs. In addition, tissue-specific expression of these miRNAs was investigated. It was concluded that miR156 and miR172 may be components of a regulatory pathway mediating transition from the vegetative to the reproductive phase in Phalaenopsis. The smRNA and transcriptomic databases could be the foundations for further research aimed at elucidating the control of the flowering time in orchids

Efficiency Predictions by Fuzzy Piecewise Auto-regression in Dynamic Network System

Workshop 2015 -Advances in DEA Theory and Applications (December 1-2, 2015)Since efficiency prediction can help managers to monitor future performance and detect potential failures, it is important for production and operation management. Data envelopment analysis is comprehensively applied to evaluate the relative performance in various areas. However, only few studies try to forecast the relative performance estimated by data envelopment analysis. We propose a performance forecasting model that integrates the multi-activity dynamic network data envelopment analysis and fuzzy piecewise auto-regression. The proposed approach constructs a dynamic performance measurement with the network structure to calculate the catching-up efficiency index. The catching-up efficiency index is further decomposed into the technical efficiency change and dynamic efficiency change to capture the effect of carry-over items. The fuzzy piecewise auto-regression is applied to regress the possibility and necessity estimation models by catching-up efficiency index for forecasting efficiency. In this paper, a data from banks in Taiwan from 2006 to 2012 are applied. The results indicate that the proposed approach has highly accuracy rate. The workshop is supported by JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science), Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B), #25282090, titled “Studies in Theory and Applications of DEA for Forecasting Purpose.本研究はJSPS科研費 基盤研究(B) 25282090の助成を受けたものです

With the development of the economy, high-quality free travel has become a mainstream leisure tourism method, and tourism-related information has also grown exponentially. Coupled with the diversity of information sources, tourist attraction consumers received a lot of fragmented information. Previous research pointed out that tourist attraction consumers\u27 decision-making basis is increasingly relying on electronic word of mouth. However, the variety of reviews on the Internet makes it easier for tourist attraction consumers to make timely or even wrong judgments due to information integration errors. In order to solve the problems mentioned above, this research is based on big data text mining and sentiment analysis processing analysis, using the existing electronic travel review data to conduct mining analysis, in order to recommend the most useful review information to tourist attraction consumers, allowing tourist attraction consumers to make effective decisions. In other words, tourist attraction consumers can enable users to get advance reminders before making decision and presented with visualization. In this way, tourists who are consumers of tourist attractions can receive the information they need quickly and logically, and quickly make decision. Then, improve user satisfaction. Finally, results provide tourist attractions operators as a reference to improve and strengthen their core business contents and priorities
