MAP: Microblogging Assisted Profiling of TV Shows
Online microblogging services that have been increasingly used by people to
share and exchange information, have emerged as a promising way to profiling
multimedia contents, in a sense to provide users a socialized abstraction and
understanding of these contents. In this paper, we propose a microblogging
profiling framework, to provide a social demonstration of TV shows. Challenges
for this study lie in two folds: First, TV shows are generally offline, i.e.,
most of them are not originally from the Internet, and we need to create a
connection between these TV shows with online microblogging services; Second,
contents in a microblogging service are extremely noisy for video profiling,
and we need to strategically retrieve the most related information for the TV
show profiling.To address these challenges, we propose a MAP, a
microblogging-assisted profiling framework, with contributions as follows: i)
We propose a joint user and content retrieval scheme, which uses information
about both actors and topics of a TV show to retrieve related microblogs; ii)
We propose a social-aware profiling strategy, which profiles a video according
to not only its content, but also the social relationship of its microblogging
users and its propagation in the social network; iii) We present some
interesting analysis, based on our framework to profile real-world TV shows

Reduced NO levels due to the deficiency of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) contribute to impaired vasodilation in pulmonary hypertension Due to the chemically unstable nature of BH4 it was hypothesised that oxidatively stable analogues of BR, would be able to support NO synthesis to improve Endothelial dysfunction in pulmonary hypertension Two analogues of BH4 namely 6-hydroxymethyl pterin (HMP) and 6-acetyl 7 7-dimethyl 7 8-dihydropterin (ADDP) were evaluated for vasodilator activity on precontracted rat pulmonary artery rings ADDP was administered to pulmonary hypertensive rats followed by measurement of pulmonary vascular resistance in perfused lungs and eNOS expression by immunohistochemistry ADDP and HMP caused significant relaxation in vitro in rat pulmonary arteries depleted of BH4 with a maximum relaxation at 0 3 mu M (both P<005) Vasodilator activity of ADDP and HMP was completely abolished following preincubation with the NO synthase inhibitor L-NAME ADDP and HMP did not alter relaxation induced by carbachol or spermine NONOate BH4 Itself did not produce relaxation In rats receiving ADDP 141 mg/kg/day pulmonary vasodilation induced by calcium ionophore A23187 was augmented and eNOS immunoreactivity was increased In conclusion ADDP and HMP are two analogues of BH4 which can act as oxidatively stable alternatives to BH4 in causing NO-mediated vasorelaxation Chronic treatment with ADDP resulted in Improvement of NO-mediated pulmonary artery dilation and enhanced expression of eNOS in the pulmonary vascular endothelium Chemically stable analogue, of BH4 may be able to limit endothelial dysfunction in the pulmonary vasculatur
Use of a venous assist device after repair of complex lesions of the right heart
Sixteen patients underwent hemodynamic evaluation of a venous assist device after complex operations on the right side of the heart. The device consists of an inflatable abdominal binder attached to a Jobst extremity pump causing intermittent external compression of the abdomen. In addition, six of these patients were evaluated using total lower body compression for comparison. Modifications of the Fontan procedure were performed in 14 patients, mitral valve anuloplasty and tricuspid valve replacement in 1 patient and reconstruction of the right ventricular outflow tract for treatment of pulmonary atresia with intact septum in 1 patient. The patients' ages ranged from 23 months to 31 years (mean 10.7 ± 1.8 years). Systemic blood pressure, right and left atrial pressures, heart rate and arterial-mixed venous oxygen saturation difference were recorded in each patient with and without the device in place.With the venous assist device, mean systolic pressure increased from 95 ± 4 to 122 ± 3 mm Hg (p < 0.05) and diastolic pressure rose from 57 ± 3 to 70 ± 3 mm Hg (p < 0.05). Left atrial pressure increased from 7 ± 1 to 15 ± 1 mm Hg and right atrial pressure from 15 ± 1 to 23 ± 1 mm Hg (both p < 0.05). In addition, arterial-mixed venous oxygen saturation difference decreased from 29% without the device to 23% with the device in place (p < 0.05). Total lower body compression gave similar results to intermittent abdominal compression alone.Use of the venous assist device improves postoperative circulatory performance in patients after complex procedures on the right side of the heart. Cardiac filling pressures and systemic blood pressure rose while peripheral perfusion was improved. The ease and effectiveness of application of abdominal compression alone offer some advantage over the previously described technique of total lower body compression

INTRACELLULAR COPPER ACCUMULATION ENHANCES THE GROWTH OF KINEOCOCCUS RADIOTOLERANS DURING CHRONIC IRRADIATION
The actinobacteria Kineococcus radiotolerans is highly resistant to ionizing radiation, desiccation, and oxidative stress; though the underlying biochemical mechanisms are unknown. The purpose of this study was to explore a possible linkage between the uptake of transition metals and extreme resistance to ionizing radiation and oxidative stress. The effects of 6 different divalent cationic metals on growth were examined in the absence of ionizing radiation. None of the metals tested were stimulatory, though cobalt was inhibitory to growth. In contrast, copper supplementation dramatically increased cell growth during chronic irradiation. K. radiotolerans exhibited specific uptake and intracellular accumulation of copper compared to only a weak response to both iron and manganese supplementation. Copper accumulation sensitized cells to hydrogen peroxide. Acute irradiation induced DNA damage was similar between the copper-loaded culture as the age-synchronized no copper control culture, though low molecular weight DNA was more persistent during post-irradiation recovery in the Cu-loaded culture. Still, the estimated times for genome restoration differed by only 1 hr between treatments. While we cannot discount the possibility that copper fulfills an unexpectedly important biochemical role in a radioactive environment; K. radiotolerans has a high capacity for intracellular copper sequestration, and presumably efficiently coordinated oxidative stress defenses and detoxification systems, which confers cross-protection from the damaging affects ionizing radiation
Aharonov-Bohm cages in the GaAlAs/GaAs system
Aharonov-Bohm oscillations have been observed in a lattice formed by a two
dimensional rhombus tiling. This observation is in good agreement with a recent
theoretical calculation of the energy spectrum of this so-called T3 lattice. We
have investigated the low temperature magnetotransport of the T3 lattice
realized in the GaAlAs/GaAs system. Using an additional electrostatic gate, we
have studied the influence of the channel number on the oscillations amplitude.
Finally, the role of the disorder on the strength of the localization is

Searches for New Quarks and Leptons Produced in Z-Boson Decay
We have searched for events with new-particle topologies in 390 hadronic Z decays with the Mark II detector at the SLAC Linear Collider. We place 95%-confidence-level lower limits of 40.7 GeV/c^2 for the top-quark mass, 42.0 GeV/c^2 for the mass of a fourth-generation charge - 1/3 quark, and 41.3 GeV/c^2 for the mass of an unstable Dirac neutral lepton
Measurement of Z Decays into Lepton Pairs
We present measurements by the Mark II experiment of the ratios of the leptonic partial widths of the Z boson to the hadronic partial width. The results are Γ_(ee)/Γ_(had)=0.037_(-0.012^()+0.016),Γ_(µµ)/Γ_(had)=0.053-_(0.015)^(+0.020), and Γ_(ττ)/Γ_(had)=0.066_(-0.017)^(+0.021), in good agreement with the standard-model prediction of 0.048. From the average leptonic width result, Γ_(ll)/Γ_(had)=0.053_(-0.009)^(+0.010), we derive Γ_(had)=1.56_(-0.24)^(+0.28) GeV. We find for the vector coupling constants of the tau and muon v_τ^2=0.31±0.31_(-0.30)^(+0.43) and v_μ^2=0.05±0.30_(-0.23)^(+0.34)
