Curvature Inspired Cosmological Scenario
Using modified gravity with non-linear terms of curvature, and (with being the positive real number and being the scalar
curvature), cosmological scenario, beginning at the Planck scale, is obtained.
Here, a unified picture of cosmology is obtained from gravity. In this
scenario, universe begins with power-law inflation, followed by deceleration
and acceleration in the late universe as well as possible collapse of the
universe in future. It is different from dark energy models with
non-linear curvature terms assumed as dark energy. Here, dark energy terms are
induced by linear as well as non-linear terms of curvature in Friedmann
equation being derived from modified gravity. It is also interesting to see
that, in this model, dark radiation and dark matter terms emerge spontaneously
from the gravitational sector. It is found that dark energy, obtained here,
behaves as quintessence in the early universe and phantom in the late universe.
Moreover, analogous to brane-tension in brane-gravity inspired Friedmann
equation, a tension term arises here being called as cosmic tension.
It is found that, in the late universe, Friedmann equation (obtained here)
contains a term ( being the phantom energy density)
analogous to a similar term in Friedmann equation with loop quantum effects, if
and brane-gravity correction when Comment: 19 Pages. To appear in Int. J. Thro. Phy
Event by Event Analysis and Entropy of Multiparticle Systems
The coincidence method of measuring the entropy of a system, proposed some
time ago by Ma, is generalized to include systems out of equilibrium. It is
suggested that the method can be adapted to analyze multiparticle states
produced in high-energy collisions.Comment: 13 pages, 2 figure
Modulation of DNA damage tolerance in Escherichia coli recG and ruv strains by mutations affecting PriB, the ribosome and RNA polymerase
RecG is a DNA translocase that helps to maintain genomic integrity. Initial studies suggested a role in promoting recombination, a possibility consistent with synergism between recG and ruv null alleles and reinforced when the protein was shown to unwind Holliday junctions. In this article we describe novel suppressors of recG and show that the pathology seen without RecG is suppressed on reducing or eliminating PriB, a component of the PriA system for replisome assembly and replication restart. Suppression is conditional, depending on additional mutations that modify ribosomal subunit S6 or one of three subunits of RNA polymerase. The latter suppress phenotypes associated with deletion of priB, enabling the deletion to suppress recG. They include alleles likely to disrupt interactions with transcription anti-terminator, NusA. Deleting priB has a different effect in ruv strains. It provokes abortive recombination and compromises DNA repair in a manner consistent with PriB being required to limit exposure of recombinogenic ssDNA. This synergism is reduced by the RNA polymerase mutations identified. Taken together, the results reveal that RecG curbs a potentially negative effect of proteins that direct replication fork assembly at sites removed from the normal origin, a facility needed to resolve conflicts between replication and transcription
Non linear equation of state and effective phantom divide in brane models
Here, DGP model of brane-gravity is analyzed and compared with the standard
general relativity and Randall-Sundrum cases using non-linear equation of
state. Phantom fluid is known to violate the weak energy condition. In this
paper, it is found that this characteristic of phantom energy is affected
drastically by the negative brane-tension of the RS-II model. It is
found that in DGP model strong energy condition(SEC) is always violated and the
universe accelerates only where as in RS-II model even SEC is not violated for
and the universe decelerates
Quantum driven Bounce of the future Universe
It is demonstrated that due to back-reaction of quantum effects, expansion of
the universe stops at its maximum and takes a turnaround. Later on, it
contracts to a very small size in finite future time. This phenomenon is
followed by a " bounce" with re-birth of an exponentially expanding
non-singular universe
Local Variational Principle
A generalization of the Gibbs-Bogoliubov-Feynman inequality for spinless
particles is proven and then illustrated for the simple model of a symmetric
double-well quartic potential. The method gives a pointwise lower bound for the
finite-temperature density matrix and it can be systematically improved by the
Trotter composition rule. It is also shown to produce groundstate energies
better than the ones given by the Rayleigh-Ritz principle as applied to the
groundstate eigenfunctions of the reference potentials. Based on this
observation, it is argued that the Local Variational Principle performs better
than the equivalent methods based on the centroid path idea and on the
Gibbs-Bogoliubov-Feynman variational principle, especially in the range of low
temperatures.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures, one more section adde
