Substrate-induced magnetic anisotropy in La0.7Sr 0.3MnO3 epitaxial thin films grown onto (110) and (118) SrTiO3 substrates

We show a detailed magneto-optical Kerr study at room temperature of well characterized epitaxial La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (LSMO) thin films grown onto (110) and (118) SrTiO3 substrates. The films present a well-defined uniaxial (two-fold) magnetic anisotropy ascribed to substrate-induced anisotropy. In particular, the in-plane uniaxial anisotropy in the(110)-oriented LSMO films originates from the existence of elongated in-plane [001]-oriented structures. Similar elongated structures, parallel to the [110] crystallographic direction, are found for LSMO films grown on (118) STO surfaces. In all films, such a uniaxial magnetic anisotropy is characterized by an easy axis lying along the elongated structures. Furthermore, the vectorial-resolved hysteresis loops as a function of the in-plane applied field direction are interpreted in terms of rotation and propagation and nucleation of magnetic domains processes. Our results demonstrate the tailoring of magnetic anisotropy by exploiting the substrate-induced anisotropy in epitaxial thin filmsThis work was supported in part by the Spanish MICINN through Project No. CSD2007-00010 and by the Comunidad de Madrid through Project No. S2009/MAT-1726. Magnetization reversal signatures in the magnetoresistance of magnetic multilayers

The simultaneous determination of magnetoresistance and vectorial-resolved magnetization hysteresis curves in a spin valve structure reveals distinct magnetoresistive features for different magnetic field orientations, which are directly related to the magnetization reversal processes. Measurements performed in the whole angular range demonstrate that the magnetoresistive response originates from the intrinsic anisotropic angular dependence of the magnetization orientation between the two ferromagnetic layers. This also provides direct proof that the spin-dependent scattering in the bulk of the magnetic layers is at the origin of the magnetoresistive signal

The present paper researches the problem of foreign-language communicative competence of adult learners on the basis of authentic materials. Learner-centered and competence approaches were determined to form a foreign-language communicative competence.Theoretical and methodological backgrounds of oral foreign language communication of non-linguistic academic staff were formed. Theoretical backgrounds showing oral foreign language communication teaching techniques with the help of authentic materials(printed, audio, video) were proved, different methods and teaching techniques were analyzed taking into account the peculiarities of adult learners. As a result of conducted scientific research the theoretically proved and experimentally tested methodology (set of exercises with the use of aut

Quasiantiferromagnetic 120° Néel state in two-dimensional clusters of dipole-quadrupole-interacting particles on a hexagonal lattice

The magnetostatic interactions of colloidal particles, capped with radially magnetized Co/Pt multilayers, are modeled. Motivated by experiment the particles are arranged in microscopic two-dimensional clusters on a hexagonal lattice and are free to rotate. The thermodynamically stable states of clusters containing up to 108 particles are calculated theoretically by means of Monte Carlo simulations in the framework of multipole expansion. It is shown analytically that radially magnetized hemispheres have higher-order multipole moments beyond the dipole. Depending on geometrical details also even order moments appear. The even order moments break the inversion symmetry of the magnetic potential of a single particle. For a specific mixing ratio of dipole and quadrupole moments, the experimentally observed antiferromagnetic 120° Néel state in the clusters is found
