Spherical CR Dehn Surgery

Consider a three dimensional cusped spherical $\mathrm{CR}$ manifold $M$ and suppose that the holonomy representation of $\pi_1(M)$ can be deformed in such a way that the peripheral holonomy is generated by a non-parabolic element. We prove that, in this case, there is a spherical $\mathrm{CR}$ structure on some Dehn surgeries of $M$. The result is very similar to R. Schwartz's spherical $\mathrm{CR}$ Dehn surgery theorem, but has weaker hypotheses and does not give the unifomizability of the structure. We apply our theorem in the case of the Deraux-Falbel structure on the Figure Eight knot complement and obtain spherical $\mathrm{CR}$ structures on all Dehn surgeries of slope $-3 + r$ for $r \in \mathbb{Q}^{+}$ small enough.Comment: 27 page

On the dimension of discrete valuations of k((X1,...,Xn))

Let $v$ be a rank-one discrete valuation of the field k((\X)). We know, after \cite{Bri2}, that if $n=2$ then the dimension of $v$ is 1 and if $v$ is the usual order function over k((\X)) its dimension is $n-1$. LA INTENCIONALIDAD EN MARITAIN Y HUSSERL

La teoría de la intentio hoy conocida como “intencionalidad” había pasado desapercibida en la filosofía moderna y fue recuperada por Brentano, pero sobre todo fue puesta de relieve por Husserl, quien se apoyó en ella como uno de los elementos básicos de su fenomenología. Sin embargo, en esta corriente la intencionalidad perdió su sentido clásico. Así lo pone de manifiesto Jacques Maritain en su gnoseología. ¿Por qué Husserl cambia el sentido del concepto?, ¿cuál es la crítica principal de Maritain a este hecho? Parece pertinente esclarecer ambas visiones a fin de comprender el sentido que ha prevalecido en la Filosofía de la Mente contemporánea y las Neurociencias. Lo que se halla en juego es nuevamente la antigua confrontación entre inmanentismo y realismo gnoseológico: admitir en qué consiste la intencionalidad es el punto de inflexión entre estas posiciones. En este trabajo pongo de manifiesto que la forma de asumir un legítimo realismo es mediante una metafísica del ser que reclama una intencionalidad radicada no solamente en el sujeto cognoscente sino además en su relación con la cosa conocida y no sólo con los meros objetos mentales. El propósito de esta publicación es mostrar el punto de quiebre que se lleva a cabo en la teoría del conocimiento y en la psicología racional con respecto al concepto “intencionalidad” del realismo metafísico. La teoría de la intentio en F. Brentano recoge la idea original de los medievales pero sin ser muy explícito en los términos gnoseológicos ya que su objetivo primario consistió sobre todo en superar el psicologismo de su época. En cambio, esa teoría heredada por Husserl se ve alterada completamente con respecto a su sentido primigenio cuando aplica su método trascendental. Esto se puede apreciar en varias partes de su obra "Ideas relativas a una fenomenología pura y una filosofía fenomenológica" (1913)

NATURALEZA Y TECNOLOGÍA: RUPTURA Y RECONCILIACIÓN

Que la tecnología nos ha cambiado la vida es una verdad de perogrullo. Y, la pertinencia de una reflexión científica sobre la tecnología, a estas alturas, tampoco plantea dudas. La técnica nos rodea y no es posible ignorarla ni detenerla, ya no hay vuelta atrás, a menos que se produzca una catástrofe. Pero, ¿es posible que se produzca? En esta comunicación pongo de manifiesto la necesidad de congeniar dos puntos que suelen presentarse enconados: la naturaleza y la tecnología. Esta necesidad no viene impuesta por un deseo romántico de contemporizar a los partidarios de ambos extremos, sino de poner de manifiesto que este enfrentamiento y ruptura es uno de los peligros que pueden impedir la prolongación de la vida de la especie humana. Deseo a toda costa evitar el catastrofismo, pero también mostrar que con la tecnología, en poco tiempo, hemos llegado muy lejos y es perentorio asumir responsabilidades

LA FUNCIÓN INTEGRADORA DEL CONOCIMIENTO POR CONNATURALIDAD

Desde la consideración de Tomás de Aquino del conocimiento por connaturalidad, "el conocimiento que aporta a la inteligencia más datos que los puramente racionales, especialmente todos los datos proporcionados por la afectividad", es posible hacer un acercamiento integral a la realidad y establecer una relación con otras áreas de sabiduría y sus objetos de estudio. Esto ayuda a confrontar algunos problemas filosóficos reales, como la pérdida de la visión holística de la realidad, el reduccionismo epistemológico y el relativismo gnoseológico. Recordar el estudio iniciado en la primera parte del siglo XX por tomistas bien conocidos sobre la connaturalidad ayudaría a comprender mejor la realidad y el ser humano, y facilitaría el diálogo entre Filosofía, Ciencia y Teología sobre temas como Ecología, Estética o Mística

On the limit set of a spherical CR uniformization

We explore the limit set of a particular spherical CR uniformization of a cusped hyperbolic manifold. We prove that the limit set is the closure of a countable union of $\mathbb{R}$-circles, is connected, and contains a Hopf link with three components; we also show that the fundamental group of its complement in $S^3$ is not finitely generated. Spherical CR uniformization of Dehn surgeries of the Whitehead link complement

We apply a spherical CR Dehn surgery theorem in order to obtain infinitely many Dehn surgeries of the Whitehead link complement that carry spherical CR structures. We consider as starting point the spherical CR uniformization of the Whitehead link complement constructed by Parker and Will, using a Ford domain in the complex hyperbolic plane $\mathbb{H}^2_{\mathbb{C}}$. We deform the Ford domain of Parker and Will in $\mathbb{H}^2_{\mathbb{C}}$ in a one parameter family. On the one side, we obtain infinitely many spherical CR uniformizations on a particular Dehn surgery on one of the cusps of the Whitehead link complement. On the other side, we obtain spherical CR uniformizations for infinitely many Dehn surgeries on the same cusp of the Whitehead link complement. These manifolds are parametrized by an integer $n \geq 4$, and the spherical CR structure obtained for $n = 4$ is the Deraux-Falbel spherical CR uniformization of the Figure Eight knot complement.Comment: 70 pages, 15 figures, comments are welcom
