AbstractUsually in order to balance the load demand at high peak hours, hydro electric pumped storage power plant is utilized. In this project a novel design, (CFPID) Cascaded Fuzzy PID (Proportional - Integral - Derivative) controller scheme using B&R (Bernecker & Rainer) Industrial Automation PLC - HMI (Programmable Logic Control - Human Machine Interface) for Efficient Energy management and storage in real time performance of a hydro electric pumped storage power plant is proposed. In this scheme, Fuzzy Level is cascaded with PID Flow for improvement in performance. A prototype model of a hydro electric pumped storage power plant with 22 digital inputs and 14 potential free outputs is fabricated with an objective of controlling the process variables, flow and level is done by using conventional PLC and the proposed CFPID control. There are two tanks in the prototype, lower tank with 2 stages of level and upper tank with 5 stages of level. HMI is used to monitor and operate the process in online - real time, for easy control of the operations. In this paper, the proposed PLC- HMI automation based CFPID control scheme is performed and finally compared with the conventional PLC by experimental results and validated by using real time statistics obtained from the hydro electric pumped storage power plant

Results and prospects on registration of reflected Cherenkov light of EAS from cosmic particles above 10^{15} eV

We give an overview of the SPHERE experiment based on detection of reflected Vavilov-Cherenkov radiation (Cherenkov light) from extensive air showers in the energy region E>10^{15} eV. A brief history of the reflected Cherenkov light technique is given; the observations carried out with the SPHERE-2 detector are summarized; the methods of the experimental datasample analysis are described. The first results on the primary cosmic ray all-nuclei energy spectrum and mass composition are presented. Finally, the prospects of the SPHERE experiment and the reflected Cherenkov light technique are given.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, Proc. PANIC-201

Incomplete financial markets and jumps in asset prices

For incomplete financial markets, jumps in both prices and consumption can be unavoidable. We consider pure-exchange economies with infinite horizon, discrete time, uncertainty with a continuum of possible shocks at every date. The evolution of shocks follows a Markov process, and fundamentals depend continuously on shocks. It is shown that: (1) equilibria exist; (2) for effectively complete financial markets, asset prices depend continuously on shocks; and (3) for incomplete financial markets, there is an open set of economies U such that for every equilibrium of every economy in U, asset prices at every date depend discontinuously on the shock at that date

Enhancer viruses and a transgenic platform for combinatorial cell subclass-specific labeling

The rapid pace of cell type identification by new single-cell analysis methods has not been met with efficient experimental access to the newly discovered types. To enable flexible and efficient access to specific neural populations in the mouse cortex, we collected chromatin accessibility data from individual cells and clustered the single-cell data to identify enhancers specific for cell classes and subclasses. When cloned into adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) and delivered to the brain by retro-orbital injections, these enhancers drive transgene expression in specific cell subclasses in the cortex. We characterize several enhancer viruses in detail to show that they result in labeling of different projection neuron subclasses in mouse cortex, and that one of them can be used to label the homologous projection neuron subclass in human cortical slices. To enable the combinatorial labeling of more than one cell type by enhancer viruses, we developed a three-color Cre-, Flp- and Nigri- recombinase dependent reporter mouse line, Ai213. The delivery of three enhancer viruses driving these recombinases via a single retroorbital injection into a single Ai213 transgenic mouse results in labeling of three different neuronal classes/subclasses in the same brain tissue. This approach combines unprecedented flexibility with specificity for investigation of cell types in the mouse brain and beyond

Lawson criterion for ignition exceeded in an inertial fusion experiment

For more than half a century, researchers around the world have been engaged in attempts to achieve fusion ignition as a proof of principle of various fusion concepts. Following the Lawson criterion, an ignited plasma is one where the fusion heating power is high enough to overcome all the physical processes that cool the fusion plasma, creating a positive thermodynamic feedback loop with rapidly increasing temperature. In inertially confined fusion, ignition is a state where the fusion plasma can begin "burn propagation" into surrounding cold fuel, enabling the possibility of high energy gain. While "scientific breakeven" (i.e., unity target gain) has not yet been achieved (here target gain is 0.72, 1.37 MJ of fusion for 1.92 MJ of laser energy), this Letter reports the first controlled fusion experiment, using laser indirect drive, on the National Ignition Facility to produce capsule gain (here 5.8) and reach ignition by nine different formulations of the Lawson criterion
