Certain extremely successful popular culture contents may convey democratic values that can have an impact on the political views of readers and fans. The differences in the values of Harry Potter fans and average Facebook users using social data about public Facebook activity are examined. Even though currently only a minority share the values that the Harry Potter stories embody, they are still an important segment of society that one might not even be aware of if one only follows the state-controlled media and make up a significant majority of the Hungarian media market. Understanding this culturally constructed fan network is thus academically and socially relevant

Kedvelik-e a nemzeti rockerek a McDonald’s-ot?

Tanulmányunkban közösségimédia-lábnyomok vizsgálatán keresztül arra keressük a választ, hogy egy sajátos szubkultúra, a radikális nemzeti rock rajongói körében találunk-e a „kozmopolita” márkák és termékek iránt különös érzékenységet, nyitottságot. Ezt azért tartjuk fontos kérdésnek, mert a szubkultúra-kutatások többsége a konstituáló tevékenységre, esetünkben a nemzeti rock iránti rajongás ideológiai tartalmaira és szemiotikai formáira fókuszál. Bennünket ezzel szemben az érdekelt, hogy e szubkultúra tagjai az élet más területein mennyiben viselkednek az adott csoport tagjaként. A hétköznapi nacionalizmus elméleti keretébe illesztve áttekintjük a témára vonatkozó hazai és nemzetközi irodalmat, majd prezentáljuk az általunk alkalmazott módszertant és vizsgálati eredményeinket. Kutatásunkkal azt is igyekeztünk bizonyítani, hogy a digitális lábnyomokból építkező módszertan új megközelítések irányában nyit lehetőségeket, de egyelőre számos megválaszolandó módszertani kérdést is felvet
