HRM in Israel: new challenges
This paper considers the development of HRM strategies and practices in Israel. It provides a comprehensive analysis of how Israeli firms deal with people-related issues and situations in a demanding and unique environment. Based on both an historical perspective and empirical findings, it depicts the development of HRM in Israel throughout its existence, up to its present state. The HRM function is examined in the light of the dynamics of economy, technology and the legal system. We employ examples from two different sectors (high technology and healthcare) to reflect the strategy and practice that characterize HRM in Israel. We end by portraying a projected future picture of people management in Israel
Strengthening graduate education and addressing environmental challenges through solutions-oriented partnerships and interdisciplinary training
Abstract Graduate students across disciplines are eager for experiential training that enables them to address real-world environmental challenges. Simultaneously, communities across the world face numerous environmental challenges, including increased frequency of extreme heat in summer and poor air quality, and could benefit from the expertise and engagement of graduate students with the requisite skills and interests to address these challenges. In this paper we bring together lessons learned from three interdisciplinary graduate training programs focused on preparing graduate students to contribute to urban environmental solutions by working in partnerships with non-academic organizations. We discuss the multiple elements required for partnerships to be mutually beneficial, including using a T-shaped approach to training that incorporates both depth and breadth while making strong efforts to broaden participation. We share lessons with the goal of enhancing graduate programs to improve training of students to address urban environmental challenges globally. This training aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 17, “Partnership for the Goals,” which aims to achieve sustainable development goals through partnerships among entities

This article proposes a common approach for various taxonomies concerning the evolution stages of environmental management in organizations presented in the specialized literature. The analysis of the contributions related to the understanding of environmental management in companies found in the literature was based on their similarities. The aim of this analysis was to outline a proposal of a common approach concerning the evolution stages for environmental management. This taxonomy was then related to the evolution of both organizational configurations, as well as the human resource and production management areas. A common taxonomy related to the analysis of environmental management consisting of the three following evolution stages is proposed: functional specialization, internal integration and external integration of the environmental variable in organizations. These stages tend to follow the evolution of both organizational configurations, as well as the human resource and production management areas. This article systematizes the similarities of various taxonomies concerning environmental management in companies that appear to be disconnected in the literature. This paper contributes to the scarce literature related to the understanding of the integration of environmental management by considering the taxonomies of the evolution of organizational configurations, as well as the production and human resource management areas. It allows the experts involved in decision-making to comprehend the current maturity level of the company's environmental management and the necessary efforts to achieve superior performance
