The Relationship Between Pre-service Teachers University Preferences and the Sense of Belonging at the University
The study was carried out in order to determine the university preferences of pre-service teacher and their level of belonging to the university, and to reveal the relationship between them. The Preferring University Scale developed by Apaydın and Seçkin-Kapucu (2017) was used to determine the reasons for pre-service teachers university preference, and the Scale of Belonging to the University developed by Kahraman (2013) to determine the level of belonging to the university.The level of pre-service teachers preference for university%253B While informing about the university, job opportunities, geographical location, financial opportunities, close acquaintances, educational material, students studying at the university are considered within the scope of the effect of high school education%253B students%252339%253B university affiliation%253B were examined within the scope of expectation, motivation, and identification dimensions.Data were obtained from 271 pre-service teachers studying at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Faculty of Education. The data obtained from the pre-service teachers were analyzed with the SPSS-23 program, t-Test, ANOVA tests and correlation analysis were used in the data analysis. When the results of the research were evaluated, it was determined that the mean scores of pre-service teachers regarding the level of preference and belonging to the university were at a moderate level. It was determined that the levels of pre-service teachers%252339%253B preference and belonging to the university differed significantly according to the variables of gender, university department, reasons for choosing the university, place of residence, and the type of high school they graduated from. TEACHERS’ MULTICULTURAL COMPETENCE PERCEPTIONS
Teachers are the most important actors in the adoption of the multicultural education approach in schools. Determining the multicultural competence perceptions of teachers will enable the development of practices that can be put forward to create a multicultural education environment in classrooms and therefore schools. The purpose of the current study is to determine the multicultural competence perceptions of classroom teachers and preschool teachers and to examine them according to the different variables. The study was carried out in a survey model suitable for quantitative research methods. The measurement tool was applied to 283 teachers working in a city center and its districts located in the Marmara Region. The data were analyzed and interpreted with the SPSS package program. The multicultural competence perceptions of the teachers differed statistically significantly according to the branch, having students from different cultures in the classroom, working in different regions of the country, the region where he was born/raised, and the working year. Çalışmanın amacı, altı farklı branştan öğretmenlerin sosyal beceri kavramı hakkındaki algılarının belirlenmesidir. Bu çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olgu bilim (fenomenoloji) deseni kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada öğretmenlerin sosyal beceriye yönelik algı olgusu detaylı şekilde incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışma grubu amaçlı örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenmiştir. Araştırma verileri, açık uçlu, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme soruları ile toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi yaklaşımı ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı doğrultusunda gerçekleştirilen veri analizi sonucunda araştırma bulguları%253B sosyal beceri ile ilgili kavramsal bilgiler, sosyal beceri gelişimini etkileyen etmenler, sosyal beceriyi geliştiren etkinlikler ve sosyal beceriyi destekleyen mesleki ve bireysel özellikler olarak temalandırılmıştır. Selective IR response of highly textured phase change VO2 nanostructures obtained via oxidation of electron beam deposited metallic V films
We demonstrate the growth of highly textured VO2 nanocrystals via annealing of e-beam deposited amorphous metallic V. Temperature dependent ellipsometry results reveal the pronounced reflection near the IR spectrum above the transition and an almost temperature independent weak reflection in the visible spectrum. The IR reflection displays a strong hysteresis during heating and cooling near the transition temperature at 68 degrees C. indicating a first order transition and a strain-free structure. Our work demonstrates the feasibility to obtain high quality phase change nanostructures that transmit the visible spectrum but reflect IR and is suitable for large scale fabrication
ÖĞRETMEN ADAYLARININ DİJİTAL OKURYAZARLIKLARI İLE YAŞAM BOYU ÖĞRENME BECERİLERİ ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİNİN İNCELENMESİ
Çalışmada öğretmen adaylarının dijital okuryazarlık ve yaşam boyu öğrenme becerileri incelenmiştir. Eğitim fakültesinde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin dijital okuryazarlık ve yaşam boyu öğrenme becerileri arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma ilişkisel tarama deseninde yapılan nicel araştırmadır. Üniversite öğrencilerinin bölümleri basit rastlantısal örnekleme modeli ile belirlenmiştir. Farklı bölümlerde öğrenim gören öğrencilerden ise tabakalı örnekleme modeline uygun olacak şekilde 309 kişiden veri toplanmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak Tutum’, ‘Teknik’, ‘Bilişsel’ ‘Sosyal’ olmak üzere dört alt boyut ve 17 sorudan oluşan dijital okuryazarlık ölçeği; “Öğrenme” ve “Gelişim” alt boyutları olmak üzere iki alt boyuttan ve 17 sorudan oluşan Yaşam boyu öğrenme ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Çalışma sonuçlarına göre, öğretmen adaylarının dijital okuryazarlık ve yaşam boyu öğrenme becerilerinin yüksek düzeyde olduğu; sivil toplum kuruluşuna üye olma, çevrimiçi kurslara katılım sağlama ve kişisel bilgisayarı bulunma durumlarına göre farklılık gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının dijital okuryazarlık ve yaşam boyu öğrenme becerileri arasında ilişki olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmış; yaşam boyu öğrenme becerilerinin öğretmen adaylarının dijital okuryazarlıklarının yordayıcısı olduğu belirlenmiştir
Turkish translation, validation, and reliability analysis of pediatric eosinophilic esophagitis symptom severity module version 2.0
The Paediatric Eosinophilic Esophagitis Symptom Severity Modules Version 2.0 (T-PEESv2.0) was developed in English as a valid, reliable questionnaire for follow up. This work aimed to develop a Turkish version of T-PEESv2.0 via translation and cultural adaptation and then to test its validation and reliability.
Methods: The PEESv2.0 was translated into Turkish by standardized procedural steps completed in cooperation with the Mapi Research Trust. The final version of the questionnaire was submitted to eosinophilic oesophagitis patients or their parents at 2 times point separated by 1 week. An age-matched control group was used to test the discriminant validity. Construct validity was tested using the Wilcoxon test, and internal consistency was tested using Cronbach's alpha. Test-retest reliability was measured with Cohen's kappa and intraclass correlation coefficient.
Results: One hundred twenty-eight participants (70 patients, 58 parents) were enrolled. Fifty-eight (39.1%) of them completed T-PEESv2.0-parent by proxy and 70 (54.7%) were T-PEESv2.0. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient and intraclass correlation coefficient for test-retest reliability were >0.70 for both questionnaires and for all domain (frequency and severity) and total scores. For discriminant validity analysis, subscale (frequency and domain) and total scores of the patient group were compared with those of the control group. The subscale and total scores were significantly different between the groups (P < 0.05).
Conclusion: T-PEESv2.0 appeared to be valid and reliable, ready to be introduced as a clinical and research tool for the assessment of patients with eosinophilic oesophagitis
An Overview of One Health Concept Focusing on Toxoplasmosis
The "One Health" concept is a universal approach to sustainably balancing and optimizing the health of humans, animals, and ecosystems. This approach is based on the health of humans, domestic and wild animals, and plants in a wider environment in which self-renewable ecosystems exist, with essential characteristics of integration, unifying and holistic perspective. Toxoplasmosis, one of the most common zoonotic infections in both terrestrial and oceanic ecosystems in the world, is an ideal model disease for the “One Health” approach. Toxoplasmosis is a zoonotic disease caused by the obligate intracellular pathogen protozoan Toxoplasma gondii. In the life cycle of T. gondii, the definitive host is domestic cats and felines, and the intermediate hosts are all mammals (including humans), birds and reptiles. The infected cats have primary importance and play a crucial role in the contamination of habitats in the ecosystems with T. gondii oocysts. Thus, ecosystems with domestic cats and stray cats are contaminated with cat feces infected with T. gondii oocytes. T. gondii positivity has been scientifically demonstrated in all warm-blooded animals in terrestrial and aquatic habitats. The disease causes deaths and abortions in farm animals, resulting in great economic losses. However, the disease causes great problems in humans, especially pregnant women. During pregnancy, it may have effects such as congenital infections, lesions in the eye and brain of the fetus, premature birth, intrauterine growth retardation, fever, pneumonia, thrombocytopenia, ocular lesions, encephalitis, and abortion. The mechanism of death and abortion of the fetus in a pregnant woman infected with T. gondii occurs as a result of complete disruption of the maternal immune mechanism. The struggle against toxoplasmosis requires the universal collaboration and coordination of the World Organization for Animal Health, the World Health Organization and the World Food Organization in the "One Health" concept and integrative approaches of all responsible disciplines. Establishing universal environmental safety with the prevention and control of toxoplasmosis requires the annihilation of the feces of the infected cats using suitable techniques firstly. Then routinely, the monitoring and treatment of T. gondii positivity in cats, avoiding contact with contaminated foods and materials, and development of modern treatment and vaccine options. Particularly, mandatory monitoring or screening of T. gondii positivity during the pregnancy period in humans should be done. It would be beneficial to replace the French model, especially in the monitoring of disease in humans. The Effects of L-NAME and Agmatine in The Nucleus Accumbens Core Regıon on Morphine Withdrawal Syndrome
Aim:The mesocorticolimbic dopaminergic system, especially the nucleus accumbens, is an important region in opioid dependence and withdrawal. Studies have shown that nitric oxide synthase inhibitors modulate the development of tolerance to opioids, opioid dependence, and withdrawal. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of local injections of L-NAME and agmatine into the nucleus accumbens core (NAcc), one of the nucleus accumbens subregions on withdrawal signs and locomotor activity behavior during naloxone-induced withdrawal in morphine-dependent rats.Materials and Methods:Twenty-four adult Sprague-Dawley rats were used in the study. Morphine dependence was developed in all animals after guide cannula implantation into the NAcc region. On the last day of experiment, following bilateral L-NAME, agmatine or artificial cerebrospinal fluid (aCSF, control group) microinjections morphine withdrawal was induced by naloxone.Results:Local administration of agmatine and L-NAME into the NAcc significantly suppressed the jumping number during naloxone induced withdrawal. Local agmatine treatment significantly suppressed the score of teeth chattering, although the L-NAME did not change. No significant difference was observed in withdrawal symptoms such as wet dog shakes and defecation after local agmatine and L-NAME treatment. Agmatine increased stereotypic movements, but did not change locomotor activity behaviors such as ambulatory activity and total covered distance. Local administration of L-NAME into the NAcc did not increase stereotypic and ambulatory movements, and total covered distance during naloxone-induced withdrawal.Conclusion:These results suggest that inhibition of nitric oxide synthesis in NAcc plays a role in morphine withdrawal symptoms, but it is not responsible alone
The Representation of The Family in Pre-School Books (1980-2023)
Okul öncesi çocuk kitaplarında ailenin işleniş şekillerinin 1980 – 2023 aralığı
içinde incelendiği bu çalışmada, çocuğun aile içindeki konumunu daha net
anlayabilmek adına aile tipleri ve çocuk ile ebeveynin iletişimi hususunda ebeveyn
tutumlarına odaklanılmıştır. Çocuğun rol model aldığı ebeveyn tipini görmek
amacıyla tarihsel ve toplumsal değişimlerin aile üzerinden okunarak açıklanmasına
çalışılmıştır. Tüm bu açıklamalar yapılırken çocukluğun küçük yetişkin biçiminde
tanımlandığı dönemlerden on beşinci yüzyıl ortalarında çocukluğun icadı sonrası
okuma yazma yeterliğine dayandırılan anlayışla birlikte okullaşma sürecine
ulaşılmıştır. Ardından da öncelikle burjuva ailelerde var edilen çocukluğun, devlet
için geleceğin teminatı ve büyük bir yatırım olarak görüldüğünden bahsedilmiş,
günümüzde geldiği noktada ise, uzman bilgisiyle performansa dayalı
anne/babalıktan, çocuk merkezli ailelerden söz edilmiştir. İncelenen çocuk
kitaplarında modernleşme ile kategorize edilen ailenin standart tanımlar içine dahil
edilemediği görülmekle birlikte, bahsi geçen kitaplardaki hikâyeler içinde en yaygın
temsilin de çekirdek aile olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmaktadır. Bundaki en büyük etmen,
toplumsal değişimlerin gözle görülür bir şekilde gerçekleşmesidir. Ayrıca anne artık
iş hayatına dahil olmuş, babanın evi geçindirme sorumluluğu paylaşılmış, böylece
daha katılımcı ve esnek olan aile yapısının çocuk kitaplarındaki temsili de artmıştır.
Öte yandan, ailenin çözülmesinden duyulan endişeyle geleneksel cinsiyet rollerinin
ifade bulduğu çocuk kitaplarının da günümüzde var olduğu görülmektedir.
Günümüzde yayımlanan kitaplara baktığımızda çocuğunun ihtiyaçlarına karşı
duyarlı, ilgi ve beklentilerini karşılayan, onunla vakit geçiren ilgili destekleyici bir
baba figürüyle karşılaşmaktayız. Üstelik babanın merkeze alındığı kitapların sayısı
da oldukça fazladır. Geçmişte yayımlanan kitaplara bakıldığında ise bunun tersi bir
durum söz konusudur, bu kitaplarda annenin daha çok yer bulduğu görülmüştür.
Yakın tarihlerde basılmış okul öncesi çocuk kitaplarının “egemen baba”yı içerse bile
bu baba tipinin çocuğuyla ilgilendiği görülür. Bakım verme noktasındaki örnekliğe
ise yalnızca eşitlikçi aileyi temsil eden kitaplarda rastlanmaktadır. İncelememize
dahil edilen kitapların büyük kısmında ilgili, destekleyici ebeveyn tutumu örnekliği
sunulmuştur.In this study, which examines the way the family is handled in preschool
children's books between 1980 and 2023, the focus is on family types and parental
attitudes regarding the communication of the child and the parent in order to better
understand the position of the child in the family. In order to see the type of parent
that the child takes as a role model, it has been tried to explain the historical and
social changes through the family. While all these explanations were being made, the
schooling process was reached with the understanding based on literacy proficiency
after the invention of childhood in the middle of the fifteenth century, from the
periods when childhood was defined as a small adult. Then, it was mentioned that the
childhood created in bourgeois families was seen as a guarantee of the future and a
great investment for the state, and at the point it has reached today, performancebased
parenting with expert knowledge, child-centered families were mentioned.
Although it is seen that the family categorized by modernization in the examined
children's books cannot be included in the standard definitions, it is concluded that
the most common representation among the stories in the mentioned books is the
nuclear family. The biggest factor in this is the visible realization of social changes.
In addition, the mother is now involved in business life, the father's responsibility for
providing for the house is shared, so the representation of the more participatory and
flexible family structure in children's books has increased. On the other hand, it is
seen that there are children's books in which traditional gender roles are expressed
with the concern of the dissolution of the family. When we look at the books
published today, we encounter a supportive father figure who is sensitive to the needs of his child, meets his interests and expectations, and spends time with him.
Moreover, the number of books in which the father is the center is quite high. When
we look at the books published in the past, the opposite is the case, it was seen that
the mother found more place in these books. It is seen that this type of father is
interested in his child, even if the preschool children's books published recently
include the "dominant father". The exemplary care at the point of care can only be
found in the books that represent the egalitarian family. Most of the books included
