Three-dimensional rotation of even-even triaxial nuclei

With the self-consistent three-dimensional cranked Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (3d-cranked HFB) method, various types of rotational motion near the yrast line are investigated in an even-even nucleus in the $A\simeq 130$ mass region ($^{134}_{58}$Ce$_{76}$). The possibilities of chiral rotations, tilted-rotations, and dynamical aspects of these rotations are discussed through the analysis of the 3d-cranked HFB solutions. Although a stable planar solution of the chiral rotation is obtained, an aplanar chiral configuration is found to be unstable when triaxial deformation is treated self-consistently.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures; accepted for publication in Phys. Residual-based localization and quantification of peaks in x-ray diffractograms

We consider data consisting of photon counts of diffracted x-ray radiation as a function of the angle of diffraction. The problem is to determine the positions, powers and shapes of the relevant peaks. An additional difficulty is that the power of the peaks is to be measured from a baseline which itself must be identified. Most methods of de-noising data of this kind do not explicitly take into account the modality of the final estimate. The residual-based procedure we propose uses the so-called taut string method, which minimizes the number of peaks subject to a tube constraint on the integrated data. The baseline is identified by combining the result of the taut string with an estimate of the first derivative of the baseline obtained using a weighted smoothing spline. Observation of the lowest energy gamma-ray in any superdeformed nucleus : 196Bi

New results on the superdeformed $^{196}$Bi nucleus a re reported. We have observed with the EUROBALL IV $\gamma$-ray spectrometer array a superdeformed trans ition of 124 keV which is the lowest observed energy $\gamma$-ray in any superdeformed nucleus. We have de velopped microscopic cranked Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculations using the SLy4 effective force and a realistic surface p airing which strongly support the $K^\pi=2^-$($\pi$[651]1/2$\otimes \nu$[752]5/2) assignment of this su perdeformed band

Remarkably, this is stable throughout the entire lifespan of the Republic and not just in the later years and despite the varying content of votes across the lifespan of the Republic, and (2) that nearly all parties were troubled by intra-party divisions, though, in particular, the national socialists and communists became homogeneous in the final years of the Republic.Zukunftskolleg, University of Konstan

Fully differential cross sections for photo-double-ionization of D2

We report the first kinematically complete study of the four-body fragmentation of the D2 molecule following absorption of a single photon. For equal energy sharing of the two electrons and a photon energy of 75.5 eV, we observed the relaxation of one of the selection rules valid for He photo-double-ionization and a strong dependence of the electron angular distribution on the orientation of the molecular axis. This effect is reproduced by a model in which a pair of photoionization amplitudes is introduced for the light polarization parallel and perpendicular to the molecular axis

State Selective Scattering Angle Dependent Capture Cross Sections Measured by Cold Target Recoil Ion Momentum Spectroscopy

We have developed a new kind of recoil ion momentum spectroscopy technique, using a precooled supersonic gas jet target, to determine state selective, scattering angle dependent cross sections for swift ion-atom collisions ( 0. 25 , ..., , 1 MeV He2+ on He), by measuring the transverse and longitudinal momentum of the recoil ion. A longitudinal momentum resolution of ± 0.13 a. u. was achieved, about a factor of 30 better than ever obtained before, which enables a clear separation of K and L shell capture. In the transverse direction a resolution corresponding to a projectile scattering angle uncertainty of Δ ϑ P = ±1 μ rad was obtained

A framework for intelligent policy decision making based on a government data hub

Author ProofThe e-Oman Integration Platform is a data hub that enables data exchanges across government in response to transactions. With millions of transactions weekly, and thereby data exchanges, we propose to investigate the potential of gathering intelligence from these linked sources to help government officials make more informed decisions. A key feature of this data is the richness and accuracy, which increases the value of the learning outcome when augmented by other big and open data sources. We consider a high-level framework within a government context, taking into account issues related to the definition of public policies, data privacy, and the potential benefits to society. A preliminary, qualitative validation of the framework in the context of e-Oman is presented. Spätestens seit den gesellschaftlichen Modernisierungsschüben in den sechziger Jahren identifiziert auch die Germanistik Erkenntnis- und Wissenszuwachs, ja allgemeiner den "Fortschritt" ihres Fachs, mit Komplexitätserhöhung. Vor diesem Hintergrund erscheint es mir wenig plausibel, die seitdem erfolgten inneren Ausdifferenzierungen und interdisziplinären Grenzüberschreitungen als durch Identitätsverlust, Zerstreuung und Desintegration gekennzeichnete Niedergangsszenarien zu beschreiben.
