    LEO and GEO missions

    Get PDF
    The occurrence of the Challenger disaster in early 1986 caused a severe reevaluation of the space program. Plans already established had to be drastically revised and new plans had to be made. NASA created the Space Leadership Planning Group (SLPG) to formulate space mission plans covering a 50 year period based on Agency goals and objectives responsive to the National Commission on Space recommendations. An interim view of the status of SLPG plans for low altitude and geosynchronous missions is presented

    Need for expanded environmental measurement capabilities in geosynchronous Earth orbit

    Get PDF
    The proliferation of environmental satellites in low altitude earth orbit (LEO) has demonstrated the usefulness of earth remote sensing from space. As use of the technology grows, the limitations of LEO missions become more apparent. Many inadequacies can be met by remote sensing from geosynchronous earth orbits (GEO) that can provide high temporal resolution, consistent viewing of specific earth targets, long sensing dwell times with varying sun angles, stereoscopic coverage, and correlative measurements with ground and LEO observations. An environmental platform in GEO is being studied by NASA. Small research satellite missions in GEO were studied (1990) at GSFC. Some recent independent assessments of NASA Earth Science Programs recommend accelerating the earlier deployment of smaller missions

    Displacing Androcracy: Cosmopolitan Partnerships in Bapsi Sidhwa's Water

    Get PDF
    Set against the backdrop of Gandhi's Freedom Movement, Water pushes the boundaries of India's male-dominant cultural narratives beyond patriarchal predicaments by questioning the religious tradition and the oppressive constraints imposed on Hindu widows. This paper aims to show how Sidhwa's characters move toward more caring and life-enhancing scenarios by portraying relationships of mutual support in which human beings give evidence of 'other' possible patterns of construction of the self and forms of co-existence, thus overcoming the rigid discourses imposed by dominator hierarchies

    Analyse des réseaux sociaux et communautés en ligne : quelles applications en marketing ?.

    Get PDF
    Dans cet article, l’analyse des réseaux sociaux (ARS) est décrite comme une nouvelle méthodologie d’étude des communautés en ligne. Afin d’amener à une meilleure compréhension de l’ARS, une synthèse des recherches antérieures est proposée. Elle détaille les techniques de collecte de données, les mesures structurelles utilisées (densité, centralité, trou structural…), les propriétés des réseaux, les logiciels existants, les rôles et positions des acteurs. Les apports de l’analyse des réseaux sociaux dans le marketing des communautés en ligne sont mentionnés. Un accent particulier est porté sur les applications empiriques et les développements futurs de ce nouveau champ.This paper identifies social network analysis (SNA) as a newly emerging methodology for the study of on-line communities in marketing. In order to examine what constitutes SNA, this paper reviews prior research on the topic: data-gathering techniques, measures of network structure (density, centrality, structural holes…), network properties, software review, roles and positions of actors. We explore the ramifications of using social network analysis in marketing processes and in an on-line community context. Marketing empirical applications and innovative developments in the field are mentioned.marketing des communautés en ligne; Méthodologie; Analyse des réseaux sociaux;

    The Gift of Partnership

    Get PDF
    Riane Eisler’s partnership model and David Loye’s theory of Darwinian moral sensitivity are effective interdisciplinary frameworks for highlighting the dynamic interplay between dominator and equalitarian constructs that shape the history of our time. In this period of limited individual freedom and impending predatory globalism, branded as philanthropic altruism and environmental sustainability, this article uses both theories to offer life-enhancing and caring scenarios to move beyond top-down elitism and to promote a culture of peace

    I BUY YOUR PRODUCT WHEN I FEEL I KNOW YOU: USING BLOG DISCLOSURE TO INFLUENCE CONSUMERS

    Get PDF
    Whilst confidence in certain companies has fallen as a result of the feeling amongst consumers that their private life has been violated, it would seem that at the same time, consumers are very eager to know more about the private life of the bloggers they follow. In return, bloggers are revealing more and more about themselves and displaying their private lives on their blogs. We show that the role of disclosure is a key determinant in consumer persuasion and that the exposure by bloggers of their private lives has a positive influence on their visitors. A quantitative study made of fashion and beauty blog enabled us to assess the impact of such disclosure on confidence in the blog, attitude towards the blog and the brand, and on the various routes to persuasion observed. The managerial implications of this research are presented in conclusion to help managers choose relevant blogs
