    The study covers content analysis of the european uprising news represented in Turkish Media . 12 mainstream Turkish newspapers has been analysed between the dates of 1th – 30th July 2011. Correspodence analysis and mosaic plots has been used in order to develop a better picture. The news about “European uprising” found in only 65 newspapers of 236. As the main result, it can be stated that The uprising news in different newspapers on the same date are associated with the newspaper's perspective about democracy, human rights and global citizenship

    GENERAL TRENDS OF STUDIES ON FLIPPED CLASSROOM MODEL: BIBLIOMETRIC MAPPING AND CONTENT ANALYSIS

      This study aims to examine the research trends and results of bibliometric mapping analyses of the articles that have been conducted about the Flipped Classroom Model in the field of education in the last ten years. For analysis purposes, 126 articles were accessed from Web of Science for the years between 2010 and 2019. In total, 63 articles were selected from among the articles for bibliometric as well as content analysis. According to the bibliometric analysis the most frequently mentioned keywords are flipped classroom, active learning, and chemical education research, and that many of the articles have focused more on motivation in recent years. The content analysis determines that the variables including not only perception and motivation, but also academic achievement/performance have been the most common topics mentioned in the academic articles. Accordingly, achievement tests, questionnaires and scales have been preferred as data collection tools, and university students appear to have been mostly preferred as a sample group. The quantitative approach has been mostly used as the type of method in the articles in the last decade

    Work-life conflict experienced by Turkish women managers during the Covid-19 pandemic: A qualitative research

    The changes in business life during the Covid 19 Pandemic had a significant effect on work-life balance of individuals, especially women as their roles at home and work have increased and the conflict between these roles has become more pronounced. Considering this fact, this research aimed to determine the conflicts and changes on the work-life balance of female managers during the Covid-19 pandemic. In this context, the research was carried out within the framework of workplace responsibilities, private life responsibilities, work-private life conflict, and the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. This research was carried out in educational institutions of Turkey, through interviews with 16 married women employees who have children. The obtained data were classified following the main purpose of the research and content analysis, then coded and analyzed using the MAXQDA.The findings showed that the dominant factor in the pandemic period was Work-Life conflict and job responsibilities restricted private life responsibilities more. The fact that working at home decreases productivity, low productivity extends working hours, and the negative effects of technology increasing the workload have caused female managers, who are aware of their job responsibilities, to work more

    Dijital materyal hazırlama öğretiminin sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının teknolojik pedagojik alan bilgisi öz-güvenlerine etkisi

    This study examines whether digital material preparation training provided to pre-service teachers’ using instructional technologies affects their levels of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) Self-Confidence. The research is conducted using the Embedded Design, one of the Mixed Methods Research Designs. Study group consists of 24 pre-service social studies teachers. Data is collected using TPACK Self-Confidence Scale (TPACK-SCS) and Semi-Structured Questionnaire. Pre-service teachers are trained on different Web 2.0 tools throughout the implementation phase and thereafter were asked to prepare different digital materials specific to social studies. Quantitative data collected were analyzed using descriptive and predictive statistics. Content analysis of qualitative data was performed using MaxQda 2020 qualitative data analysis software. Research findings revealed a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores of pre-service teachers’ TPACK self-confidence levels. Pre-service teachers’ fear of failure, presumed failure and reluctance for being a part of the process turned into a perception of success and self-efficacy following the training and their learned helplessness disappeared. Teachers should be supported with a practice-based training that will allow to integrate technological, pedagogical and content knowledge for developing TPACK, as a comprehensive answer to 21st century teaching competencies.Bu çalışmanın amacı, öğretim teknolojileri üzerinden sağlanan dijital materyal hazırlama eğitiminin öğretmen adaylarının TPACK öz-güvenleri üzerindeki etkisini incelemektir. Çalışmada karma araştırma yaklaşımı içerisinde yer alan gömülü desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 24 sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada Teknolojik Pedagojik Alan Bilgisi Öz Güven Ölçeği, yarı-yapılandırılmış görüşme formu veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Uygulama sürecinde öncelikle öğretmen adaylarına farklı Web 2.0 araçları eğitimi verilmiş daha sonra öğretmen adaylarına sosyal bilgiler öğretimine özgü farklı dijital materyaller hazırlatılmıştır. Öğretmen adaylarından toplanan nicel verilerde betimsel ve kestirimsel istatistikler kullanılmıştır. Nitel verilerin çözümlenmesinde ise MaxQda 2020 nitel veri analiz programı kullanılarak içerik analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğretmen adaylarının TPACK öz-güven düzeyleri ön test ve son test puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. Öğretmen adaylarının başlangıçta taşıdıkları başarısız olma endişesi, ben yapamam ön kabulü, sürecin bir parçası olmaya gösterilen isteksizliğin verilen eğitim sonrasında başarabilirim, ben de yapabilirim algısına dönüştüğü, öğrenilmiş çaresizliğin ortadan kalktığı tecrübe edilmiştir. 21. yüzyılın öğretmen yeterliğine kapsamlı bir cevap olan TPACK’ın gelişimi için teknolojik, pedagojik, alan bilgisini bütünleştirmeye imkan sağlayan uygulamaya dayalı bir öğretmen eğitimine ihtiyaç olduğunu düşünülmektedir

    The aim of this study is to explore the status of dental care. For this purpose, the data set is taken from a real data set which the survey was carried out in 2003 at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine, Turkey. The population is defined to be people who are over the age of 18, living in Istanbul. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute indicators, Istanbul is divided into three regions. In these regions, there are 25 towns in total and all of them are included. From these 25 towns, 285 districts are selected randomly. In total, the analyses are performed with the participation of 931 individuals. Taking into account the nested structure of the data set (individuals are nested within districts, districts within towns and towns within regions), multilevel modelling approaches are investigated

    Pirofosfatların sentetik analogları olan bifosfonatlar kemik metabolizması ile ilgili birçok hastalığın tadavisinde yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadırlar. Bifosfonatların kullanımının hastaya sağladığı yarar yanında, çenelerde osteonekroz oluşması gibi yan etkileri de vardır. Bifosfonata bağlı gelişen osteonekrozun tedavisinin zorluğu ve hastanın hayatını olumsuz etkilemesi erken tanı ve koruyucu önlemleri önemli yapar. Bu nedenle bisfosfonat osteonekrozuna ait klinik ve radyografik özelliklerin iyi bilinmesi erken tanı ve tedavi açısından önem taşımaktadır. Bu derlemenin amacı bifosfonatlar ile ilgili bilgi vermek, bifosfonata bağlı çenelerde görülen osteonekroz tanısında önemli olan noktalara dikkat çekmektir. Ayrıca, hastalar için çok önemli olan osteonekrozdan korunma ve önleyici tedbirlere de değinilecektir

    Bir Grup Türk Populasyonunda Görülen Meziodenslerin Sıklığı, Özellikleri Ve Meydan Getirdikleri Komplikasyonlar

    Objectives: the purpose of the study was to analyze the frequency, characteristics and associated complications of mesiodens in a group of patients in Turkey. Materials and Methods: The present study included 3782 patients (1590 male, 2192 female), who attended the Department of Maxillofacial Radiology, Faculty of Dentistry, Erciyes University for their dental problems. Panoramic radiographs routinely obtained during dental examinations served as the study basis for detection of the prevalence of mesiodens. In the case of mesiodens detection additional occlusal radiographs were obtained from the patients. In addition to age and gender, descriptive characteristics of meziodens, including number, shape, position, complication caused by mesiodens were recorded. Results: The prevalence of mesiodens in the present study was 2.7% (3.9% male, 1.8% female). The sex ratio was 2.17:1, favoring boys, the ratio was statistically significant (p<0.001).The majority of the mesiodens (50%) were conical in shape. A majority of the mesiodens (62.1%) were vertically aligned. Inverted and horizontally positions were observed in 20.2% and 16.1% of the cases. 17 patients had two, and two patients had more than two mesiodens. Most of the mesiodens (58.1%) were associated with complications and only 41.9% were asymptomatic. Conclusions: The prevalence of mesiodens was found to be high comparable to similar studies in the literature. The majority of the mesiodens were impacted and thus, in case of retention or delayed eruption, dentists should bear in mind that mesiodens may be the cause and early detection and timely surgical intervention should be kept in mind to avoid unwanted complications. Keywords: Supernumerary teeth, prevalence, panoramic radiographs, mesiodens.  ÖZET Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı bir grup Türk populasyonunda görülen meziodenslerin sıklığı, özellikleri ve meziodens dişlerle ilişkili komplikasyonların araştırılmasıdır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışmada çeşitli dental problemleri nedeniyle Erciyes Üniversitesi, Dişhekimliği Fakültesi, Ağız Diş ve Çene Radyolojisi Anabilim Dalına başvuran, 3782 hastanın (1590 erkek, 2192 kadın) rutin dental muayene nedeniyle alınan panoromik radyografları ve klinik verileri değerlendirilmiştir. Radyograflarında meziodens saptanan hastalardan dişlerin lokalizasyonu ve meydana getirdikleri komplikasyonların değerlendirilmesi için okluzal radyografiler alınmıştır. Meziodens saptanan hastaların yaşları ve cinsiyetleri yanı sıra, dişlerin sayısı, şekli, pozisyonları ve meydana getirdikleri komplikasyonlar kaydedilmiştir. Bulgular: Meziodens görülme sıklığı cinsiyetler arası istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur (erkek/kadın oranı 2.17:1 olarak bulunmuştur p<0.001). Meziodenslerin çoğunluğunun konik şekilli(%50) ve vertikal pozisyonda olduğu (% 62,1) olduğu saptanmıştır. Dişlerin %20,2 sinin inverted ve % 16,1 sının horizontal pozisyonda olduğu görülmüştür. 17 hastada iki, iki hastada ikiden çok meziodens görülmüştür. Meziodenslerin çoğu (%58,1) komplikasyona yol açarken % 41,9’u komplikasyona yol açmamaktadır. Sonuç: Çalışmamızda meziodens prevelansı literatürdeki diğer çalışmalarla uyumlu bulunmuştur. Meziodenslerin büyük bir çoğunluğu gömülü oldukları için dişhekimleri intraoral muayene sırasında diş sürmesinde gecikme veya retansiyonla karşılaştıklarında meziodensleri de hatırlamalıdırlar. Erken tanı ile gecikme olmadan yapılan cerrahi tedaviler ile istenmeyen komplikasyonlar önlenebilmektedir

    Circulating irisin levels in newly diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea patients

    Introduction: Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is commonly associated with obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, and coronary artery disease. Irisin is a newly identified myokine and its serum concentration was found to be correlated with cardiac troponin and creatin kinase-MB in acute myocardial infarction patients. Furthermore, irisin levels were positively associated with endothelium-dependent vasodilation in type 2 diabetic patients.Aim: In this study, we aimed to investigate serum irisin level in the newly diagnosed OSAS patients.Materials and Methods: After obtaining ethical approval, 32 OSAS patients were included. All patients gave written informed consent. Diagnosis of OSAS was verified by an overnight polysomnography (PSG) and made by an apnea hypopnea index equal to or higher than 5. Venous blood samples were collected in the morning between 08.00 – 10.00 after PSG (n=25) or after one-night CPAP treatment (n=7). Serum irisin concentrations were studied by ELISA.Results and Conclusion: Serum irisin concentrations were significantly higher in newly diagnosed OSAS group than in OSAS group after one night of CPAP treatment (199.7±42.4 vs 159.7±18.3 ng/mL respectively; p<0.01). These results suggest that increased serum irisin levels can be reduced by CPAP treatment and elevated serum irisin levels may be due to increased respiratory muscle activity and body temperature.
