Current-constraining variational approaches to quantum transport
Presently, the main methods for describing a nonequilibrium charge-transporting steady state are based on time-evolving it from the initial zero-current situation. An alternative class of theories would give the statistical nonequilibrium density operator from principles of statistical mechanics, in a spirit close to Gibbs ensembles for equilibrium systems, leading to a variational principle for the nonequilibrium steady state. We discuss the existing attempts to achieve this using the maximum entropy principle based on constraining the average current. We show that the current-constrained theories result in a zero-induced drop in electrostatic potential, so that such ensembles cannot correspond to the time-evolved density matrix, unless left- and right-going scattering states are mutually incoherent
A theorem regarding families of topologically non-trivial fermionic systems
We introduce a Hamiltonian for fermions on a lattice and prove a theorem
regarding its topological properties. We identify the topological criterion as
a topological invariant (the Pfaffian
polynomial). The topological invariant is not only the first Chern number, but
also the sign of the Pfaffian polynomial coming from a notion of duality. Such
Hamiltonian can describe non-trivial Chern insulators, single band
superconductors or multiorbital superconductors. The topological features of
these families are completely determined as a consequence of our theorem. Some
specific model examples are explicitly worked out, with the computation of
different possible topological invariants.Comment: 6 page
Dynamical phase transitions at finite temperature from fidelity and interferometric Loschmidt echo induced metrics
We study finite-temperature Dynamical Quantum Phase Transitions (DQPTs) by
means of the fidelity and the interferometric Loschmidt Echo (LE) induced
metrics. We analyse the associated dynamical susceptibilities (Riemannian
metrics), and derive analytic expressions for the case of two-band
Hamiltonians. At zero temperature the two quantities are identical,
nevertheless, at finite temperatures they behave very differently. Using the
fidelity LE, the zero temperature DQPTs are gradually washed away with
temperature, while the interferometric counterpart exhibits finite-temperature
Phase Transitions (PTs). We analyse the physical differences between the two
finite-temperature LE generalisations, and argue that, while the
interferometric one is more sensitive and can therefore provide more
information when applied to genuine quantum (microscopic) systems, when
analysing many-body macroscopic systems, the fidelity-based counterpart is a
more suitable quantity to study. Finally, we apply the previous results to two
representative models of topological insulators in 1D and 2D.Comment: 20 pages, 8 figure
Hartree-Fock theory of a current-carrying electron gas
State-of-the-art simulation tools for nonequilibrium quantum transport systems typically take the current-carrier occupations to be described in terms of equilibrium distribution functions characterized by two different electrochemical potentials, while for the description of electronic exchange and correlation, the local density approximation (LDA) to density functional theory is generally used. However, this involves an inconsistency because the LDA is based on the homogeneous electron gas in equilibrium, while the system is not in equilibrium and may be far from it. In this paper, we analyze this inconsistency by studying the interplay between nonequilibrium occupancies obtained from a maximum entropy approach and the Hartree-Fock exchange energy, single-particle spectrum and exchange hole, for the case of a two-dimensional homogeneous electron gas. The current dependence of the local exchange potential is also discussed. It is found that the single-particle spectrum and exchange hole have a significant dependence on the current, which has not been taken into account in practical calculations since it is not captured by the commonly used functionals. The exchange energy and the local exchange potential, however, are shown to change very little with respect to their equilibrium counterparts. The weak dependence of these quantities on the current is explained in terms of the symmetries of the exchange hole
Asymptotic self-consistency in quantum transport calculations
Ab initio simulations of quantum transport commonly focus on a central region which is considered to be connected to infinite leads through which the current flows. The electronic structure of these distant leads is normally obtained from an equilibrium calculation, ignoring the self-consistent response of the leads to the current. We examine the consequences of this, and show that the electrostatic potential Delta phi is effectively being approximated by the difference between electrochemical potentials Delta mu, and that this approximation is incompatible with asymptotic charge neutrality. In a test calculation for a simple metal-vacuum-metal junction, we find significant errors in the nonequilibrium properties calculated with this approximation, in the limit of small vacuum gaps. We provide a scheme by which these errors may be corrected

Karnaugh Map (K-map), a method to simplify the logic equations in a logic circuit, was a compulsory topic on Digital Electronics\u27 subject, yet the learning process in TE-PNJ was still done manually. Therefore, the result of this research was a web-based software which was used as an interactive tool for teaching K-map. Furthermore, the main purpose of that tool was so that the learning process becomes more attractive, easily understood, and interactive for the students. Besides that, a web-based programming was applied to build that so it was considered as an open source application. More over, It could simplify logic circuits with 2 to 4 input variables and DON\u27T CARE conditions. In addition, it could display both input and output logic equations and also number of logic gates (AND, OR and NOT) contained in each of those logic equations.

Analisis Penerapan Metode Konvolusi Untuk Untuk Reduksi Derau Pada Citra Digital
Noise in digital image processing is a disorder caused by deviations of the data received. There are three types of noise, Additive, Gaussian and Speckle. Currently, there are many methods for reducing noise in digital images. One method that can be used for reducing noise is convolution method, which consists of Low Pass Filter, High Pass Filter, Median Filter, Mean Filter and Gaussian Filter. This research will analyze an output by applying the convolution method for noise reduction with various parameters such as histogram, Timing- Run calculation and SNR calculation. Noise reduction will be imposed on the three types of noise.
