    Radiative corrections to the Dalitz plot of K_{l3}^\pm decays

    We calculate the model-independent radiative corrections to the Dalitz plot of K_{l3}^\pm decays to order (\alpha/\pi)(q/M_1), where q is the momentum transfer and M_1 is the mass of the kaon. The final results are presented, first, with the triple integration over the variables of the bremsstrahlung photon ready to be performed numerically and, second, in an analytical form. These two forms are useful to crosscheck on one another and with other calculations. This paper is organized to make it accessible and reliable in the analysis of the Dalitz plot of precision experiments and is not compromised to fixing the form factors at predetermined values. It is assumed that the real photons are kinematically discriminated.     The influence of social support on the wellbeing of immigrants residing in Italy: Sources and functions as predictive factors for life satisfaction levels, sense of community and resilience

    Moving from one country to another involves not only separation from the country of origin, but also the tiring process of integration into a new physical, institutional, and sociocultural context, which may expose migrants to acculturation stress. The loss of former support networks, or at the very least their transformation, presents immigrants with the need to rebuild their social support systems in the host country, involving an active search for support. Therefore, the aim of study is to analyze the structure of informal social support and its capacity to predict immigrants’ sense of community, resilience, and satisfaction with life. The results confirm that social support predicts satisfaction with life, sense of community, and resilience. Our findings highlight the way sources and frequency of support, and the satisfaction with which they are associated, have different degrees of predictive value on the dependent variables under investigation. In this study, it can be concluded that social support is an important factor in the well-being of migrants and their integration into the host community. The results have an important practical value in promoting interventions that improve immigrants’ support networks and, consequently, increase their satisfaction with life, sense of community, and resilience

    Quantifying irregular pulsation of intracranial aneurysms using 4D-CTA

    Recent studies have suggested that irregular pulsation of intracranial aneurysm during the cardiac cycle may be potentially associated with aneurysm rupture risk. However, there is a lack of quantification method for irregular pulsations. This study aims to quantify irregular pulsations by the displacement and strain distribution of the intracranial aneurysm surface during the cardiac cycle using four-dimensional CT angiographic image data. Four-dimensional CT angiography was performed in 8 patients. The image data of a cardiac cycle was divided into approximately 20 phases, and irregular pulsations were detected in four intracranial aneurysms by visual observation, and then the displacement and strain of the intracranial aneurysm was quantified using coherent point drift and finite element method. The displacement and strain were compared between aneurysms with irregular and normal pulsations in two different ways (total and stepwise). The stepwise first principal strain was significantly higher in aneurysms with irregular than normal pulsations (0.20 ± 0.01 vs 0.16 ± 0.02, p = 0.033). It was found that the irregular pulsations in intracranial aneurysms usually occur during the consecutive ascending or descending phase of volume changes during the cardiac cycle. In addition, no statistically significant difference was found in the aneurysm volume changes over the cardiac cycle between the two groups. Our method can successfully quantify the displacement and strain changes in the intracranial aneurysm during the cardiac cycle, which may be proven to be a useful tool to quantify intracranial aneurysm deformability and aid in aneurysm rupture risk assessment

    Contributions of order O(mquark2){\cal O}(m_{\rm quark}^2) to Kâ„“3K_{\ell 3} form factors and unitarity of the CKM matrix

    The form factors for the Kℓ3K_{\ell 3} semileptonic decay are computed to order O(p4)O(p^4) in generalized chiral perturbation theory. The main difference with the standard O(p4)O(p^4) expressions consists in contributions quadratic in quark masses, which are described by a single divergence-free low-energy constant, A3A_3. A new simultaneous analysis is presented for the CKM matrix element VusV_{us}, the ratio FK/FπF_K/F_{\pi}, Kℓ3K_{\ell 3} decay rates and the scalar form factor slope λ0\lambda_0. This framework easily accommodates the precise value for VudV_{ud} deduced from superallowed nuclear β\beta-decays

    Antimicrobial Effect of Silk and Catgut Suture Threads Coated with Biogenic Silver Nanoparticles

    Two bionanocomposites based on suture threads, silk-silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) and catgut-Ag NPs, were prepared through a green chemistry methodology using Chenopodium ambrosioides (Mexican Epazote) as reducing agent. UV-Vis spectrophotometry (UV-Vis), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), were used for their characterization. UV-Vis confirmed the synthesis of silver nanoparticles. Micrographs showed polydisperse, mostly spherical, Ag NPs attached to both suture threads. The bionanocomposites antimicrobial properties were evaluated through cultures and inhibition zones tests. The Chenopodium ambrosioides-assisted synthesized bionanocomposites have proved antibacterial effect against S. aureus and E. coli in both sutures (silk and catgut) and could be potentially useful for oral or periodontal surgery. There was no significant difference statistically in inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus versus Escherichia coli
