Magnetoresistive Effects in Ferromagnet-Superconductor Multilayers
We consider a nanoscale system consisting of Manganite-ferromagnet and
Cuprate-superconductor multilayers in a spin valve configuration. The
magnetization of the bottom Manganite-ferromagnet is pinned by a
Manganite-antiferromagnet. The magnetization of the top Manganite-ferromagnet
is coupled to the bottom one via indirect exchange through the superconducting
layers. We study the behavior of the critical temperature and the
magnetoresistance as a function of an externally applied parallel magnetic
field, when the number of Cuprate-superconductor layers are changed. There are
two typical behaviors in the case of a few monolayers of the Cuprates: a) For
small magnetic fields, the critical temperature and the magnetoresistance
change abruptly when the flipping field of the top Manganite-ferromagnet is
reached. b) For large magnetic fields, the multilayered system re-enters the

Relativistic dynamics of Qqq systems
The bound state of constituent quarks forming a composite baryon is
investigated in a QCD-inspired effective light-front model. The light-front
Faddeev equations are derived and solved numerically. The masses of the spin
1/2 low-lying states of the nucleon, , and
are found and compared to the experimental data. The data is

Advancing the use of secondary inputs in geopolymer binders for sustainable cementitious composites: A review
Because of concerns over the construction industry's heavy use of cement and the general dissatisfaction with the performance of building envelopes with respect to durability, there is a growing demand for a novel class of "green" binders. Geopolymer binders have re-emerged as binders that can be used as a replacement for Portland cement given their numerous advantages over the latter including lower carbon dioxide emissions, greater chemical and thermal resistance, combined with enhanced mechanical properties at both normal and extreme exposure conditions. The paper focuses on the use of geopolymer binders in building applications. It discusses the various options for starting materials and describes key engineering properties associated with geopolymer compositions that are ideal for structural applications. Specific properties, such as compressive strength, density, pore size distribution, cumulative water absorption, and acid resistance, are comparable to the specifications for structures incorporating conventional binders. This paper presents geopolymer binders, with their three dimensional microstructure, as material for structural elements that can be used to advance the realization of sustainable building systems. © 2011 by the authors
The pion electromagnetic form-factor in a QCD-inspired model
We present detailed numerical results for the pion space-like electromagnetic
form factor obtained within a recently proposed model of the pion
electromagnetic current in a confining light-front QCD-inspired model. The
model incorporates the vector meson dominance mechanism at the quark level,
where the dressed photon with decay in an interacting quark-antiquark
