Discursive practice of construction of journalistic texts about sexual harassment

Normally sexual harassment is covered in mass media either in the genre of journalistic investigation or sensational news. A discursive analysis of journalistic investigations regarding sexual harassment has shown that this genre requires special practice of construction of the truth, the journalist’s subjective position, the character of the victim and the aggressor. Sensational texts accumulate different versions of events and contradictory characteristics of their participants. Moreover, their authors avoid jumping to unambiguous conclusions

The degree of trust of audience to the current emergency situations reported by the journalists depends on tight cooperation between the PR-service of the emergency department, namely “temporary mobile press-center” which is situated on the site of emergency, and the media. The thing is it’s more difficult to work in extreme conditions if there is no reliable contact between them. The article is devoted to the principles of such interaction.

The journalists are guided by the ethical standards during their work, which are adopted by the professional community. But the ethical issues for those of them, who highlight different extreme situations, often come into conflict with the specifics of the dangerous zone. The article lists the codes and documents, which should be based on the representatives of the journalistic profession. In addition, the author of the article analyzes one of the current problems of ethical behavior of journalists working in emergencies, connected with "journalism of drones".

Creation and development of low-allergenic food products in sour-milk drink groups is the urgent trend in dairy industry development. By the results of patent search, one of challenging methods to reduce the dairy product allergenicity has been identified. To produce such products, the method involves using whey protein hydrolysates, in particular, β-lactoglobulin hydrolysate obtained by using enzyme preparations Flavorpro 750MDP and Promod 439L. The research aimed to study normalized milk mixtures fermented with β-lactoglobulin hydrolysate with the resulting changes in the chemical composition, as well as to select starter microorganisms that provide the required stability and structure of the milk coagulum by producing exopolysaccharides. The researches were carried out at the base of several laboratories as follow: The Federal Research Centre «Fundamentals of Biotechnology» of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Christian Hansen LLC, the Voronezh State University of Engineering Technologies and the Federal Research Centre of Nutrition and Biotechnology. This work is based on standard and conventional research methods. Advanced tools and information technologies were used to assess the properties of raw materials, semi-finished products and food products. By the results of studies completed, it was found unreasonable to replace over 20% of whole milk with β-lactoglobulin hydrolysate during normalization, since such replacement resulted in an increase in the mixture acidity and prevented the normal growth and development of Streptococcus thermophilus, the basic exopolysaccharide producer. At the same time, the length of fermentation increased up to 5-6 h as the mass fraction of β-lactoglobulin hydrolysate increased. The viscosity of the resulting coagulum increased due to the reaction of exopolysaccharides with the protein gel mesh and fixation thereof on the surface of protein matrix. The residual antigenicity of the finished product decreased to 48.5% relative to that of sour-milk drinks produced as per traditional technology

Secoisolariciresinol diglucoside of flaxseed and its metabolites: Biosynthesis and potential for nutraceuticals

Secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG), found mainly in flaxseed, is one of the essential lignans. SDG, as well as the beneficial fatty acid composition and high fiber content, has made flaxseed an important source of functional food or nutraceutical ingredients. Various studies have shown that SDG offers several health benefits, including protective effects against cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, and mental stress. These health benefits have been attributed to the antioxidant properties of SDG. Additionally, SDG metabolites, namely mammalian lignans, enterodiol and enterolactone, have shown promising effects against cancer. Therefore, understanding the biosynthetic pathway of SDG and its molecular mechanisms is a key to enable the production of new flaxseed cultivars rich in nutraceutical content. The present review highlights studies on the different health benefits of SDG, as well as lignan biosynthesis in flaxseed and genes involved in the biosynthetic pathway. Since SDG, the predominant lignan in flaxseed, is a glycosylated lignan, we also focus on studies investigating the genes involved in secoisolariciresinol glycosylation. These genes can be used to produce new cultivars with a novel level of glycosylation or lignan composition to maximize the yields of lignans with a therapeutic or protective potential. Genetics polymorphism of poplars from Moscow region based on high-throughput sequencing of ITS

    No full text
Poplars are widely used in landscaping of Moscow due to the ability to effectively purify the air from harmful impurities and to release a large amount of oxygen. The genus Populus is characterized by a high level of intraspecies polymorphism, as well as the presence of natural interspecies hybrids. The aim of our work was to evaluate the genetic diversity of poplars, which are growing on the territory of Moscow city by high-throughput sequencing of internal transcribed spacers of 45S rRNA genes (ITS sequences). Sequencing of ITS of 40 poplar plants was performed on Illumina platform (MiSeq) and about 3 000 reads were obtained for each sample in average. Bioinformatics analysis was performed using CLC Genomics Workbench tool. The involved set of poplars had a high level of genetic diversity – the number of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) detected in each genotype relative to the reference ITS1 and ITS2 sequences of P. trichocarpa varying from 4 to 44. We showed that even trees which had been planted on the same territory and, probably, at the same time had significant genetic differences. It can be speculated that highly polymorphic plant material was used for planting poplars in Moscow. For some sites with SNPs, several variants of nucleotides were found in the same individual and the ratio of SNPs was different. We assume that close to 50/50 ratio is observed in interspecific hybrids due to genetic differences in the ITS sequences between maternal and paternal genotypes. For SNPs with a predominance of one of the variants, the presence of paralogues among numerous genomic copies of ITS sequences is more likely. The results of our work can provide a framework for molecular genetic markers application with the purpose of Populus species and interspecific hybrids identification, determination the origin of a number of natural hybrids, and monitoring the diversity of genus Populus in the Moscow city. © AUTHORS, 2018

Production of biomedical cell products: Requirements for the quality of donor material and excipients of animal origin (review)

    No full text
Donor biological materials and excipients of animal origin are important components in the production of biomedical cell products (BMCPs). Their quality ensures the stability, safety, effectiveness and purity of the final product. This review discusses quality requirements for biological excipients intended for the production of biomedical cell products, in terms of the necessary information that should be included in the BMCP registration dossier during state registration and is subject to expert assessment during quality control. Considering that there is currently no production of biomedical cell products in the Russian Federation, the authors considered international approaches to ensuring the safety of donor material and excipients for the manufacturing of human cell- and tissue-based products (BMCP analogues).
