    Optimization of commercial net spacers in spiral wound membrane modules

    CFD simulations have been used to determine mass transfer coefficients and power consumption of commercial net spacers. The simulations show transversal and longitudinal vortices, vortex shedding and instationary flow behavior leading to the enhanced mass transfer in spacer filled-channels compared to empty channels. The results of the simulations were validated with experiments and compared with data reported in literature, showing satisfactory agreement. Furthermore, CFD simulations were used to optimize the geometry of commercial net spacers in terms of mass transfer and power consumption. The performance of these optimized spacer geometries will be used as reference for future work on the development of new high-performance spacer shapes

    This capstone thesis examines the question of how dance/movement therapy can be combined with tai-chi to support the emotional regulation of children who have experienced trauma. The paper examines a possible method that combines dance/movement therapy with tai-chi, grounded in the theories of Trudi Schoop. It highlights the application of tai-chi as a movement intervention that impacts participants ability to engage in treatment. Through the literature it was found that dance/movement therapy techniques of deep breathing, balance, and slow, rhythmic movements can impact emotional regulation. In combination with dance/movement therapy and tai-chi principles of internal awareness, body alignment, and weight control a method was developed. There were seven participants who engaged with the method. Through the development of the method, dance/movement therapy when combined with tai-chi was found to have an impact on participants ability to regulate and engage in treatment

    Sometime in the early 20th century the Groninger Museum acquired a primitively constructed door of an early date and presumably from Warffum. Recent research of the door revealed the identity of the building concerned, notably the ‘Johannietenklooster’ (monastery of the knights of St John) in the aforesaid village. The door is circular-arched and composed of two wide, thick oak parts and connected by means of two forged tail hinges. With the passage of time the inside was completely clamped with pinewood parts. This fact could have been marked by the date 1586 and some other signs carved in the wood. A heart-shaped shield in which the Maltese cross, the emblem of the monastic order of the knights of St John, has been carved twice, dates back to the original period. The door probably dates from the early 16th century

    (Liquid + liquid) equilibrium data for ternary systems of several aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons with the ionic liquid 3-methyl-N-butylpyridinium dicyanamide were determined at T = 303.15 K and 328.15 K and atmospheric pressure. As aromatics benzene, cumene and p-xylene have been chosen, as paraffins n-hexane and n-nonane were used. The experimental data were regressed and could be adequately correlated with the NRTL model. A logical order in the extraction capacity of 3-methyl-N-butylpyridinium dicyanamide for the different aromatics is obtained: benzene > p-xylene > cumene
