Background :Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) was a widely used marker for skeletal and hepatobiliary disorders, but its activity was also increased in atherosclerosis and peripheral vascular disease. Several study has showed that ALP activity was increased in the sera of diabetic patients. The current study was conducted to evaluate ALP activity in type 2 diabetic patients and optimum conditions for enzyme activity in their sera. Methods: This study was carried out at in AL-Yarmok hospital(diabetic center) between February /2009 and April /2009. Fifty two patients with type 2 diabetes have been enrolled. Besides BMI, WHR, serum fasting blood glucose, ALP, HbA1C,uric acid and lipid profile levels have been performed .The relationship between ALP and other biochemical factors have been studied. Results: From a total 52 cases, FBG, HbA1C and ALP were significantly elevated P value < 0.01 while Uric acid, Cholesterol, TG, HDL, LDL,VLDL and LDL/HDL were significantly different P value < 0.05 in diabetic patients when compared with that found in control group . ALP was significantly associated with LDL (P < 0.05) and significantly negative correlation with HbA1C (

Folic acid modulates several disorders in humans, pregnancy mostly because of the mitochondria-rich placenta, is a condition that favors oxidative stress.Transitional metals, especially iron, which are particularly abundant in the placenta, are important in the production of free radicals. Adenosine deaminase (ADA), an enzyme essential for the differentiation of lymphoid cells, has been used for monitoring diseases with altered immunity. In the present study we investigated the effect of regular and irregular administered folic acid in the first and second trimester of pregnancy to be compared with non-pregnant women ,and also the effect of regular and irregular using of folic acid  supplement on  oxidative stress parameters and  several biochemical features in first trimester pregnant women. Methods :The Hemoglobin  ,Random plasma glucose, transferrin, iron, adenosine deaminase  in addition to antioxidants(Total antioxidant capacity (TAC), Glutathione (GSH), Glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), Glutathione reductase (GSH-R) and Superoxide dismutase (SOD)), had been measured in studied groups[non pregnant women],group B-I[first trimester], group B-II[second trimester who used folic acid supplementation regularly 5 mg daily] and group B-III  [second trimester who used folic acid supplementation irregularly].Results: The level of transferrin, adenosine deaminase (ADA), malondialdehyde (MDA) and  uric acid showed significant increase  by comparing group B-II and group B-III] ,also when compared to [non pregnant women],group B-I.Iron, Total antioxidant capacity (TAC), Glutathione (GSH), Glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), Glutathione reductase (GSH-R) and Superoxide dismutase (SOD) showed significant decrease  in group B-II and group B-III  when compared to [non pregnant women and group B-I. In conclusion irregular supplementation of folic acid  increased indicators of lipid peroxidation in first trimester of pregnancy. Therefore, this regimen of supplemental folic acid may provide excessive amounts of folic acid and appears to increase the risk of oxidative stress. Key words: Folic acid, lipid peroxidation, adenosine deaminase ,antioxidants, transferrin, Iron and pregnancy

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a custom of leukemia, or cancer of the white blood cells categorized by excess lymphoblasts and Chemotherapy is the initial treatment of choice. Most ALL patients will receive a combination of different treatments.Osteopontin (OPN) is a glycoprotein that cooperates with a variety of cell surface receptors, as well as several integrins and CD44. OPN is secreted by numerous human malignancies. We aimed to evaluate serum levels of osteopontin and growth hormone(GH) in patients with Acute lymphoblastic leukemia in childhood. We studied serum levels of OPN ,GH and other biochemical levels of 60 patients that diagnosis as  acute lymphoblastic leukemia.      The mean levels of OPN were significantly higher in patients (10.00± 1.15 ng/ml) than in control (7.62± 0.60 ng/ml). The mean levels of GH levels were significantly lower in patients (2.98± 0.51ng/dl) than in control  (6.02± 1.00 ng/dl. The mean levels of the iron and total protein  in ALL patients  were (95.78± 10.11 µg/dl), (6.08 ± 1.16 g/dl)respectively. The present study  showed a significant  negative correlation between GH with  osteopontin (OPN) ,while there a positive significant  correlate  between GH with  hemoglobin  in patients group compared to control group. The present study Conclude that elevated levels of osteopontin and decreased GH levels at the diagnosis may predict an unfavorable result in  ALL childhood

Background Lead poisoning is a health condition that occur when people are showing to lead compound through inhalation, swallowing, and rarely, through the skin. Lead poisoning frequently occurs from repeated contact to small amounts of lead. Objective: The aim of the current study is to evaluate the level of the alpha amylase activity , Lead and several biochemical factors in sera workers which working to turn on and control on the large private electrical generators. Results: The group50 male employed on large private electrical generators workers, mean age (35.47 ± 5.29 years) comparing with 40 male (34.80±4.28) apparently healthy control , the result showed that serum of S. Lead ,α-amylase activity and specific activity, were significantly increase(p<0.001) in large private electrical generators workers group compared to the control group. Conclusion: Lead poisoning has serious risks to human health, and exposure to lead possibly will decrease lifespan and have health effects in the long term for these worker

The present research included synthesis of silver nanoparticle from(1*10-3,1*10-4 and1*10-5) M aqueous AgNO3 solution through the extract of M.parviflora reducing agent. In the process of synthesizing silver nanoparticles we detected a rapid reduction of silver ions leading to the formation of stable crystalline silver nanoparticles in the solution. The characteristics of silver nanoparticles were studied by using UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy, and atomic force microscope (AFM) analysis. The AFM measurements showed that the average size of silver nanoparticles synthesized using (1*10-3,1*10-4 and1*10-5) M aqueous AgNO3 solution through the extract of M.parviflora were 102 to 114nm. UV-Vis spectra of the aqueous medium containing silver nanoparticles showed a surface peak at 220nm and 445nm for (1*10-3,1*10-4 and1*10-5) M aqueous AgNO3 solution through the extract of M.parviflora. The study of nanoparticles due to the possible application for the development of new technologies such as exhibited inhibitory effects on Ecto-5'- Nucleotidase (5'-NT), ADA and AMPDA enzymes in Sera of control and Patients with Arthrosclerosis. Further studies on other biological activities are required to exploit their full potentia
