    One of the most commonly used data mining techniques is document clustering or unsupervised document classification which deals with the grouping of documents based on some document similarity function; This thesis deals with research issues associated with categorizing documents using the k-means clustering algorithm which groups objects into K number of groups based on document representations and similarities; The proposed hypothesis of this thesis is to prove that unsupervised clustering of a set of documents produces similar results to that of their supervised categorization

    Corporate governance is a process, relation and mechanism set up for the corporations and firms based on certain guidelines and principles by which a company is controlled and directed. The principles provided in the system ensure that the company is governed in a way that it is able to set and achieve its goals and objectives in the context of the social, regulatory and market environment, and is able to maximize profits and also benefit those whose interest is involved in it, in the long run. The division and distribution of rights and responsibilities among different participants in the corporation (such as the board of directors, managers, shareholders, creditors, auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders) and inclusion of the rules and procedures for making decisions in corporate affairs are identified with the help of Corporate Governance mechanism and guidelines. The need to make corporate governance in India transparent was felt after the high profile corporate governance failure scams like the stock market scam, the UTI scam, Ketan Parikh scam, Satyam scam, which were severely criticized by the shareholders. Thus, Corporate Governance is not just company administration but more than that and includes monitoring the actions, policies, practices, and decisions of corporations, their agents, and affected stakeholders thereby ensuring fair, efficient and transparent functioning of the corporate management system. By this paper, the authors intend to examine the concept of corporate governance in India with regard to the provisions of corporate governance under the Companies Act 2013. The paper will highlight the importance and need of corporate governance in India. We will also discuss the important case laws which contributed immensely in the emergence of corporate governance in India

    Clinical Study and Assessment of Efficacy of Polyherbal Combination (KNDBHU) in COVID 19 Patients

    Even three years after the COVID-19 pandemic initially appeared in December of the year 2019, it is still raging over the globe. There have been numerous attempts to use well-known medications in new ways to treat COVID-19 infection. Many nations, including India, implemented a series of lock downs in an effort to limit the pandemic. Sanitation practices, social seclusion, routine mask wearing, testing, and quarantining of suspected carriers were among the recommended methods for limiting the illness. Numerous treatment strategies have also been used to prevent and treat the illness, but no formal studies using well-known Ayurvedic formulations or any polyherbal combinations have been conducted. A clinical study was planned to test the noble polyherbal combination containing Withania somnifera, Tinospora cordifolia, Moringa oleifera, Adhatoda vasica, Piper longum, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Ocimum sanctum and Curcuma longa. The study checked the rate of symptom remission in individuals receiving the polyherbal combination in addition to standard of care (SoC) to that in patients with mild and moderate symptoms of COVID-19 infections receiving SoC alone. A prospective randomized interventional clinical study was planned comparing outcomes in 2 cohorts with mild to moderate COVID-19 as under. Cohort-1 was trialled with conventional treatment as per government advisory. Cohort-2 was trialled with polyherbal combination and with conventional treatment as per government advisory. With the current add-on Polyherbal regimen, an early clinical improvement in breathlessness was seen along with early ageusia and cough reduction when compared with conventional treatment. The polyherbal combination (KNDBHU) enhanced recovery in COVID-19 Patients. Given the lack of hospital beds in India, the median length of hospital stays was shortened; this development is significant.     Measurement of electrical properties of electrode materials for the bakelite Resistive Plate Chambers

    Single gap (gas gap 2 mm) bakelite Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) modules of various sizes from 10 cm \times 10 cm to 1 m \times 1 m have been fabricated, characterized and optimized for efficiency and time resolution. Thin layers of different grades of silicone compound are applied to the inner electrode surfaces to make them smooth and also to reduce the surface resistivity. In the silicone coated RPCs an efficiency > 90% and time resolution \sim 2 ns (FWHM) have been obtained for both the streamer and the avalanche mode of operation. Before fabrication of detectors the electrical properties such as bulk resistivity and surface resistivity of the electrode materials are measured carefully. Effectiveness of different silicone coating in modifying the surface resistivity was evaluated by an instrument developed for monitoring the I-V curve of a high resistive surface. The results indicate definite correlation of the detector efficiency for the atmospheric muons and the RPC noise rates with the surface resistivity and its variation with the applied bias voltage. It was also found that the surface resistivity varies for different grades of silicone material applied as coating, and the results are found to be consistent with the detector efficiency and noise rate measurements done with these RPCs.Comment: 9 Pages, 6 figure

    HtrA, a Temperature- and Stationary Phase-Activated Protease Involved in Maturation of a Key Microbial Virulence Determinant, Facilitates Borrelia burgdorferi Infection in Mammalian Hosts

    High-temperature requirement protease A (HtrA) represents a family of serine proteases that play important roles in microbial biology. Unlike the genomes of most organisms, that of Borrelia burgdorferi notably encodes a single HtrA gene product, termed BbHtrA. Previous studies identified a few substrates of BbHtrA; however, their physiological relevance could not be ascertained, as targeted deletion of the gene has not been successful. Here we show that BbhtrA transcripts are induced during spirochete growth either in the stationary phase or at elevated temperature. Successful generation of a BbhtrA deletion mutant and restoration by genetic complementation suggest a nonessential role for this protease in microbial viability; however, its remarkable growth, morphological, and structural defects during cultivation at 37°C confirm a high-temperature requirement for protease activation and function. The BbhtrA-deficient spirochetes were unable to establish infection of mice, as evidenced by assessment of culture, PCR, and serology. We show that transcript abundance as well as proteolytic processing of a borrelial protein required for cell fission and infectivity, BB0323, is impaired in BbhtrA mutants grown at 37°C, which likely contributed to their inability to survive in a mammalian host. Together, these results demonstrate the physiological relevance of a unique temperature-regulated borrelial protease, BbHtrA, which further enlightens our knowledge of intriguing aspects of spirochete biology and infectivity
